Visible planets: Morning: Venus, Mars Evening: Mercury, Saturn
We cross the bridge from August to September this week, moving ever closer to Autumn Equinox and summer’s end. Meanwhile, a big and bright “super” full Moon comes to fruition on August 29th at 06°06’ Virgo-Pisces, calling us to balance our physical and spiritual worlds in a dance of the visible and invisible.
As human beings, we live a material-ethereal life. We have in-body and out-of-body experiences. We instinctively seek out food, shelter and earthly pleasures, use our senses to perceive, navigate and intuit the road ahead, utilize our brains to analyze, assess and interpret the conditions and circumstances of our relationships and environments, make choices and decisions, and then, after all of this, we crave escape. We yearn to transcend our physical reality, discover a place beyond pain and suffering, stress and competition. A place we can check our egos at the door and slip into the numinous waters of non-self and non-judgment, heavenly bliss, divine light and eternal love. And this material-ethereal, physical-spiritual human dilemma and challenge comes to us this week in the celestial lunation of the Virgo-Pisces polarity.
Virgo, a sensible, practical earth sign ruled by fast-moving planet Mercury – the messenger of the gods - and asteroid Chiron – the wounded healer, finds comfort and meaning on the material earth plane and strives to improve and heal the world via work, service and daily practice.
Pisces, the opposite polarity and balance to Virgo, is a dreamy, transcendental, idealistic water-sign ruled by all-is-one Neptune, god of the sea. Pisces surrenders the ego to spirit, dissolves limitations and boundaries, intuitively understands separation as an illusion, inherently loses its once individual, well-defined shape and form and merges into One. The universal, cosmic soul.
This weekend’s full super-Moon in the Virgo-Pisces polarity opens mystical, magical, metaphysical doors of perception, expanding our view of reality, and consequently, what is possible. Our five senses perceive less than 5% of the Universe; only a tiny fraction of what is out there makes it through the filters of our programming, education and condition. We are limited by our definition and perception of reality. And yet, we consistently attempt to discern, dissect and define
So, here we are, standing on the precipice of a mysterious new world, a Universe of unlimited potential and possibility. Stars sparkle, shadows dance and moonlight shimmers. Everything is as it should be. Shall we let go of fear, trust faith and open the door?
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) Mental Mercury enters diplomatic Libra this week and reminds you that it’s better to be sweet than sour when it comes to others. Toxic words generate toxic emotions and it’s a potion of poison that’s better off left on the shelf. But that doesn’t mean you aren’t supposed to express your feelings. Do it in a calm, honest way that promotes self-respect and dignity. We teach other people how to treat us, after all.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) Venus retrograde in Leo, your solar 4th house of home and family, may have you returning to a childhood place or space, literally or metaphorically. Whatever the manifestation, know you are reviewing and reliving important family of origin issues. Money, love and value systems are themes, most likely being played out with partners and mates. Focus on balanced thoughts and discussions. Follow your heart.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) Home and family life continues as the top focus and priority now. Parental roles and issues, family-of-origin relationships and concerns, as well as understanding your own desires and emotions - in the light of it all - keeps you busy and working. This is a fabulous time and upcoming year to feel and heal wounds that may have generated in childhood. Self-love and compassion are allies in the quest of personal freedom.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) A powerful blend of Leo-Virgo energy permeates the cosmos this week as the Sun and Jupiter champion service and humility while Venus and Mars join force in a showy display of self-will, pomp and circumstance. Chances are, you’ll be personally involved and ultimately responsible for the words you speak and the actions you take. Good news is you have the gift of free will. Just make good, conscious choices.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) A passionate Venus-Mars conjunction in Leo roars with lion-hearted courage and self-will just days before the Sun and Jupiter join force in modest, meticulous Virgo. And here you are, smack dab in the middle of it all. Calm down and enjoy the show, move off the hot seat and let others dance ‘til dawn. Think you can resist the urge to engage? Yes or no, focus on balance and moderation, recovery, rest and relaxation.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) You may experience your day in the sun or a happy highlight of illumination and spiritual grace as giant Jupiter and our central star shine down upon your holy, holistic path of self-recovery and self-improvement. Others see you as one who has done the work as well as the time, come out on the other side more competent, compassionate and capable. Humility is a golden key to strength, keep the key.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) The good energy surrounding you now is a preview of what shimmers before you in the year to come. Jupiter in your solar 12th house of soul and spirit beckons expansion and growth in the mysterious, metaphysical realms of the numinous and divine. Whether or not you are currently committed to or interested in a religious or spiritual path, you can expect to be shown a way to its discovery. Keep your eyes and heart open.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) The golden road of discovery and enlightenment, a path to your hopes and dreams, awaits those willing to explore and travel it. The only requirement is the willingness to step out of your comfort zone and experiment with new and different techniques, environments and people. For now, identify what uplifts and inspires you. Consider what you would do if money was no object. Then get out the maps and carve out a plan.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) You have arrived at one of those 12-year career milestones, a place that encourages you to take a good, honest look at what you’ve been doing over the last twelve and consider what you want to do over the next twelve. This is an optimum year to explore and discover options, as recognition for your accomplishments opens doors and puts you in contact with the people and places that will help you do what you desire.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) The Moon in Aries squares Pluto in Capricorn the same day Venus and Mars join force in Leo and Neptune in Pisces opposes the Moon. This translates as a rather powerful week regarding intimate relationships and issues of surrender or control. A loved one or partner may exhibit passionate behavior that upsets or challenges you emotionally. Tap into soul and spirit. Take the high road and ask your angels.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Sweet Venus is retrograde and mighty Mars in marching forward, both in Leo. This week they meet, going in opposite directions, on the courageous road of lion-hearted love and spirit. As this takes place in your solar 7th house of important others, don’t be surprised if a variety of extra-potent and power-packed encounters come to you by way of those you hold near and dear. Go with the flow and ride the wave.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) A big, bright August full Moon shines down upon you and your loved ones. Neptune in your sign opposite the Sun and Jupiter portends a week of hope and inspiration regarding the closest and most important people to you now. Whether it’s children, friends, family, partners or mates, you can be sure their dreams are close to your heart. Make a wish; say a prayer, plant seeds of good intention. Then let the Universe do the rest.

The Sweet Surrender of Summer Sets the Lion Free
Here we are, approaching the end of August. In some neighborhoods, school bells ring and classrooms are full of students. Teachers are back to work. Football practice and pre-season NFL games have started. The hot, dramatic beauty of the fiery Leo zodiac month is morphing into earth-centered, harvest-happy Virgo, closing the door on midsummer night’s dreams and the long, luscious days of summer.
We feel our hearts, beating with summer’s bounty, not quite ready to let go of the magic magnificence of this sizzling, sensational, sultry time of year. Sun-kissed Palisade peaches, Olathe sweet corn and gardens of fresh fruits and vegetables fill our tummies and delight our senses. Deep green grass and bubbling brooks, swimming pools and mountain picnics have awakened the child within, it’s time to play and romp. Seductive summer nights, moonlight dances, shimmering stars and midnight kisses. It’s a time for love and romance. Memories and nostalgia, here today and gone tomorrow. It’s always hard to let go of that laughing, luscious, life-loving Leo the Lion.
But today the wind is blowing in the winds of change. Fall is in the air, even though it’s still hot outside and a smoky haze from too many western wildfires lingers in the canyons. I must surrender. I must surrender to change. I must surrender to Virgo the Vestal Virgin, the Madonna of the Harvest, the Mother Earth dressed in robes of gold and purple, auburn, orange and crimson and set the Lion free. We must bow to the will of the seasons, turn over our hearts and practice the art of sweet surrender. In synch with the cosmos...
Blessings and joy. Love and beauty. Peace and starlight. May the Strength of the Lion and the Fabulous Force of Virtuous Virgo be with us all.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) A supportive Venus-Uranus trine in fiery Leo-Aries awakens you to the golden truth and value of friendship in relationships. Existing romance deepens with the spirit of freedom and the absence of jealousy, control and guilt. Honesty and trust are the foundation stones in all good relationships, and it takes strength and courage for both. New potential blossoms in existing partnerships, explore and discover.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) As the Sun enters Virgo, your solar 5th house of what you love and love to do, you may feel suddenly uplifted and excited about life and living. The Mother Earth’s natural beauty and abundance blossoms all around you, calls you out and beckons engagement. You may find inside work and boring people tedious and difficult. It’s time to follow your heart, rekindle romance, express love and embrace joy.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) With ruler Mercury, magnanimous Jupiter and the Sun now in Virgo, you may find yourself on a journey home, returning to projects and programs of domestic and personal importance. Good news is that you are set to get a lot done, clean up messes, organize and purify the space and environment in which you live and love. Sweet! Cleaning house, weeding the garden - inside and out - is exactly what you need.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) You may feel more like communicating, traveling, reading or exploring education in one way or another as the Virgo zodiac month begins. Also on the agenda: cleaning, organizing and pruning the bush. All those messes and lose ends are ready to shape-shift into something new. Possessions have a way of weighting us down and now is the perfect time to lighten up. Also big: health is wealth. Take good care of you!
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) With voluptuous Venus still retrograde in Leo and recently liberated by a freedom-loving fiery Uranus trine in me-first Aries, you may find yourself awakened to the multi-faceted beauty and value of friendship. And to have good, trustworthy friends, we must be good, trustworthy friends. Simple and sweet, loving and kind, celestial force encourages self-love, self-responsibility and self-resource. Be the best you can be.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) Your Happy Birthday month officially begins on August 23rd at 4:38 am MDT and opens the door to several weeks of celebration. Congratulations on another revolution around the Sun! And lucky you. From now until September 9, 2016 good-luck, good-will Jupiter will be transiting your sign, awarding you with favor. This is a time of growth spurts, honing your skills and adding new tools to your toolbox.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) As the Sun enters Virgo and your solar 12th house of spirit, prepare yourself for a zodiac month of sweet surrender. This is a time when you are more in touch with soul that usual, a time when you find great solace in quiet, beautiful places and soul-nurturing spaces. But for now, inspiration and aspiration are staunch allies and guides. Follow our heart’s desires, commune with uplifting people and embrace life.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) The Sun joins mental Mercury and expansive Jupiter in Virgo this week, shining light upon the multi-faceted, multi-dimensional possibilities of the next 12 months. This is a year when hopes, dreams and visions for the future will be illuminated, a time to identify heartfelt aspirations and carve out a practical plan for their manifestation. Crafty, industrious Virgo favors artisan skills, holistic health, DIY and daily practice.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) Although you’ve been running fast and strong, make sure you’re not runnin’ on empty. Proper nutrition, physical exercise and a daily spiritual practice are mandatory for what you’ve signed up for. Putting too much on your plate, running from your messes and avoiding things because “you don’t have time” is a recipe for disaster. This Jupiter in Virgo year favors practical, sensible action. Slow down now.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) As summer winds its way toward autumn, Capricorns feel the wheel of fortune turn toward life’s ever-expanding horizons. The Virgo zodiac month and current Jupiter-in-Virgo year favor practical, commonsense approaches and techniques, both of which come to you easily. And with the supportive trine energy of another earth-sign, the future looks extra bright. Sensible actions today guarantee cosmic backing tomorrow.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) With Venus [retrograde] and Mars still transiting Leo, and ruler Uranus [retrograde] in Aries fast off a happy trine to Venus, you may be feeling simultaneously content and excited about the condition and status of both your relationships and your creations. Life is good. And now it’s time for Virgo, when you are asked to step sideways and look at everything from a different and new perspective. Focus on improvement, everywhere.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) As the Leo zodiac month draws to a close and the Sun enters Virgo, you may find yourself jumping back into the deep waters of relationship. Commitment and marriage are themes as you engage in discussions and possibilities of your own and other’s pairing and sharing. In the process, explore outside options. This is a year of expansion regarding who and what you find attractive, so get out do some research.

A Time to Find and Follow Our Hearts....
I finally got on my motorcycle and took a ride. Yeah.
The other day I was running around, feeling desperate. So much to do and not enough time to do it. The internal dialogs running me like a train, almost out of control, but not quite. I germinated way too many tomatoes, peppers and basil seeds way back in March and April, around the Vernal Equinox. And seedlings turn into little plants that need attention, transplanting and care. Since then I’ve been watering, feeding, nurturing and pruning plants outside in pots and in a greenhouse…and then, of course, there are my two other outside gardens. Melons, beans, potatoes, onions, garlic, spinach, carrots, lettuce, Swiss chard and herbs…dare I mention the weeds?
Well, I decided the other day. Only a crazy woman would set herself up with such an impossibly unmanageable situation. I did it to myself! Sure, I’ve harvested magnificent greens for amazing salads, sweet tomatoes and plenty of basil and garlic for pesto, and I do love working with live plants and tending gardens, but this crazy desperation I feel so much of the day and night has got to go! Too much, too much! So…
The Leo New Moon is the perfect time to awaken my truth. To feel my heart and know it. To understand what I need to do, and do it. Leo is all about personal truth and self-authenticity. Heartfelt emotions and lion-hearted courage. Taking responsibility for how I have and am creating my life. Yes, my life. In all its fabulous, fantastic glory. The divine spark, the divine gift, the Great Mystery of life, here today and possibly gone tomorrow. It’s my life and no one else’s. No one else can live my life. No one else can change it. It’s up to me how I behave, react and act. Happiness and serenity are ultimately choices. Day by day, night to night. One day and one night at a time.
So, here’s to grasping the moment, seizing the day, making wise choices and counting the abundant blessings of life. Slowing down and taking time to appreciate the here and now, making the most of personal energy and resources. Relaxing as I work. Accepting my limitations and being more realistic about what I can do and not do. Seeing the goodness, paying attention to quality rather than quantity. Getting on my motorcycle when my heart says “go” and going with a joyful, happy heart. Feeling the liberty and freedom of the road. Breathing deep, filling my heart with love and my lungs with clean, fresh Colorado air. Exhaling with gratitude for the simple act of breath and the great good fortune of living on this magnificent, magical planet Earth.
Remembering that everything is exactly as it should be in this moment. And that I am blessed with the divine gift of life. We are all blessed with life. May we all make the best of it, this life, and also make the most of this powerful Leo New Moon lunation and lunar month. May we find, feel and follow our hearts.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) The Leo New Moon gives us all a fresh start in matters of the heart, but for the Ram, it is extra-powerful and potent as it falls in your solar 5th house of what you love. And with Uranus - planet of truth and self-authenticity - in Aries also trine sweet Venus conjunct the Moon, the celestial stage is set for an amazing breakthrough and courageous new beginning in relationships. Be true to heart and act from, for and with love.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) With your ruling planet Venus halfway through its current retrograde cycle in lion-hearted Leo, you have reached a midway point in the cycle of your most important personal relationships. Your home, family and immediate environment provide you with the who and where, your actions provide the rest. This week’s Leo New Moon awards you with a golden, open, loving heart. Feel the power of love and enjoy the joy.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) Uplifting, positive fire-sign energy infuses you with love and light as the Sun, Moon and Venus conjoin on August 14th in a passionate Leo New Moon. This celestial event initiates a lunar month of fresh starts and new beginnings regarding personal creative projects, romantic relationships and all matters of the heart. Taking place in your solar 3rd house of thoughts and ideas, be prepared to write, communicate and record.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) The Leo New Moon shines light upon your personal gifts, talents and resources in a quest of self-reliance, self-sufficiency and self-responsibility. You are the most important person in your life, the one who makes the choices and decisions that put you wherever you are today. Accepting responsibility for the condition of your life and relationships is the most empowering thing you can do. Create the life you want.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) Your happy birthday month gifts you with love and beauty as the Sun, Moon and Venus join force on August 14th @ 22° Leo. Life excites and compels you to explore and expand, envision and encourage, hug and kiss. Embrace the people and ideas that open your heart and guide you toward goodness. This is one of the most favored and auspicious times of the year for rebirth and renewal. Give it your best shot.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) With good luck, good fortune planet Jupiter a new guest in Virgo, open your door, arms and heart to embrace our solar system’s largest, most magnanimous member. Take a deep breath and know you are blessed. The coming year shimmers and shines before you. Confidence, courage and faith are allies on your journey and with Jupiter’s support, you will discover their worth, value and beauty. Lucky you!
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) Exciting, uplifting cosmic energy surrounds you as the August 14th Leo New Moon begins a lunar month of increasing love, beauty, peace and grace. Ruler Venus roars with confidence, encouraging you to resurrect, reinvent and re-embrace your dreams. The golden keys to manifestation lie in the hearts and hands of people and places that inspire you. Enchant and embrace the muses, listen for the music and follow the signs.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) A magical life awaits those who seek out and discover the magic. Buried treasures lie within reach; it’s all in the seeing. You may find yourself in places far from home, traveling new territory or in familiar homelands that have changed beyond recognition. The function is one of awakening, awakening your heart. Feel the deep feelings of love in and all around you. Trust the power of love and embrace it.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) Fire, fire, fire. Climate change and global warming are real, something the Archer has known for years. The hotline to heaven is sizzling, and these days it’s hard to get a good connection. But never fear, brave and spiritual warriors are here. While others may be afraid to face the truth and engage in the battle of right action and good intention, you are ready and willing to fight. Sharpen the arrows and reach for the sky.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) Sweet, love, money and beauty planet Venus spent her last retrograde period (12.21.2013 to 01.31.2014) in Capricorn, redefining boundaries, responsibilities and goals. Now a new Venus cycle in Leo amplifies the cosmic support for opening our hearts and more fully loving ourselves, others and life. This is a call to go deep, body and soul, mind and spirit. Courage, creativity, loyalty and love are allies on the path.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) You may feel overwhelmed by the abundant beauty and bounty surrounding you and don't see why others cannot see it. Or perhaps it’s the apparent ignorance, lack of awareness or sense of entitlement you find in places you least expect it. Good news is you understand the mechanical, spiritual, physical and metaphysical forces that turn the wheels of fortune. Relax and enjoy your knowledge. Others may not.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Work and service, health and wealth are themes as the Sun, Moon and Venus conjoin in a heart-opening, spirit-invoking Leo New Moon this week, turning the tide and shining light upon the inner workings of self and soul. You may feel the need or calling to improve the world, help others or live a more organic, Earth-sustaining life. This is a fabulous time to start programs of betterment, for you and the planet.

After All, We Are the Stars....
The last edition of the Telluride Daily Planet Watch ran a cover story entitled “Stars Unseen: Visibility of the Night Sky is Rapidly Decreasing in America, but Advocates in Southwest Colorado are Trying to Keep the Nights Dark and the Stars Bright. Yes!
So happy to see an article on this very dear-to-my-heart topic. For years, I have cherished the magnificently dark, blue-black canopy of deep space spanning above my home here on Wrights Mesa. And before that, living up on Hastings Mesa, I also had the great good fortune of watching the same starry night sky shimmer and sparkle in darkness as the seasonal constellations moved from east to west. Comets and asteroids, morning and evening stars, dancing planets, lunar eclipses and the ever-flowing River of Souls – the Milky Way – meet and greet me evening to evening, night to night, thanks to the grace of living in places void of city lights and their inevitable nocturnal light pollution.
Wow! I have to admit, the night sky is a big part of my life. It’s my heart and soul, the physical-metaphysical stuff that fuels my spirit and connects me to the infinitely larger, ever-expanding Universe. It is what I’m made of. The cosmos, the mysterious place from which we come, from which we are born, where worlds and planets are created, exploding suns and collapsing stars, the bridge to forever, a touchstone to the eternal and divine, the infinite and timeless. It is here we catch a glimpse of the Great Mystery of life and death, birth and rebirth, the beginning and end, the alpha and Omega, the One.
I find peace and solace in the quiet magic and stunning beauty of the night sky. It reminds me that I am not alone. Venus and Jupiter, the Sun, the Moon and stars are my here-on-Earth-life companions. They will not desert me, leave me crying or lost in a world of self-absorbed pity or anger. They always greet me with the same heavenly light, the light of love, truth, non-judgment and acceptance. They are my friends and allies, consistent, dependable, far older and wiser than I.
The night sky keeps me sane, it puts things into perspective. It brings me up and out of my human self and world. I am reminded that I am not all that important, and that my problems just might not be that important either. I might be the center of my universe, but I am certainly not the Center of the Universe. And for that, I am eternally grateful.
So, here’s to a great article in our sweet local paper about the advocates in southwest Colorado who are “trying to keep the nights dark and the stars bright.” Thank you, thank you, thank you for your fabulous, outstanding efforts. After all, we are the stars.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) Following a busy, busy astrological week of expansion and contraction regarding love, money, work and desire, the stars align for an even more exciting show. Ruler Mars enters proud and courageous Leo, your solar 5th house of passion, motivating you to action in matters of the heart. As always, be aware of impulse and risky business. Focus on value, clarify intention and use good judgment.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) Good luck planet Jupiter moves into virginal Virgo this week and will remain there long into 2016. This heralds the beginning of an increasingly more romantic, creative year for the Bull, a time of heart-opening experience and spiritually enriched opportunity. Consider what inspires you. What are your highest goals and aspirations? The coming months lay out a golden path to your dreams. Are you willing?
Gemini (May 20-June 20) Ruler Mercury joins force with Venus and Jupiter in Leo before entering discriminating Virgo, adding fuel to the fire when it comes to love. Thoughts or conversations may turn toward relationship issues that need resolution, especially if someone feels unloved or unappreciated. It’s time to be honest about motives and expectations, honor the complexity of individuality and focus on positive, proactive solutions.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) Motivator Mars in Cancer trines taskmaster Saturn in fellow water-sign Scorpio as the forecast week begins, giving you a hefty boost of energy and will when it comes to matters of the heart. You may find yourself suddenly pursuing something or someone you love or desire, or taking care of a longstanding romantic or financial debt. Whatever the manifestation, keep the ball rolling and be willing to move on.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) As the Lion roars in celebration of another revolution around the Sun, several planets change signs, shape-shifting the cosmic landscape and providing you with the perfect venue to embrace life. Mars now in Leo promises almost two months of positive, pro-active, strong physical energy to tackle projects large and small. Focus on good intentions, motives and outcomes. Seek beauty, give love and experience joy.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) Generous, jovial Jupiter, planet of good luck, good will and good fortune, enters Virgo on August 11th and opens the door on a year of golden opportunity and expanding horizons. Take a deep breath and count your blessings. You have worked long and hard in a variety of disciplines and situations. Keep the faith and stay the course. The next twelve months are glittering gold, literally and metaphorically.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) Sweet, seductive Venus - in all her shimmering beauty and bounty - has been dancing with Jupiter for weeks in brilliant Leo, keeping you inspired. Meanwhile, taskmaster Saturn has been cracking the whip in seething Scorpio, telling you life is serious and you had better make the most of your time here on Earth – do the work! Good news! Serenity, peace and freedom are on the way. Relax, let go and let it flow.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) A supportive trine from energetic Mars in Cancer to serious Saturn in Scorpio provides you with a powerful spiritual uplift, illuminating a path of higher purpose and perspective. The tests, trials and tribulations of the last few years have redefined your reality and restructured your world. Congratulations! You are stronger, wiser and more beautiful than ever. You have everything you need.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) Ruler Jupiter moves from passionate, dramatic Leo into virtuous, virginal Virgo this week, opening the door on a year of increasing career opportunity and expanding professional options. Your innately positive attitude and enthusiastic approach to life provides the world with light and hope, helping others on the path. These days, that’s a precious commodity. Stay the course, shine your light and keep the faith.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, Mercury and Mars align in a combination of opportunity and illumination regarding love, hope and inspiration. Partners and mates are willing and wanting to provide you with what you need and assist you in getting what you want. Of course, communication is essential here as others aren’t exactly skilled at reading your mind. Open your heart, trust the Universe and accept what comes.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) As the Leo Sun moves through your solar 7th house of relationships, why not get out and about, make contact with friends and family? See the people, places and things that beckon discover and engagement. You are moving into the second half of your solar year now. The last six months have served as a process of self-discovery and self-improvement. Now it’s time to join force with others, partner up and share life.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) The last six years of your life have given favor to inner work, self-discovery and personal process. Jupiter moving through the bottom half of your solar chart provided you plenty of opportunity to work, heal and grow. On August 11th Jupiter moves into Virgo and enters your solar 7th house of engagement, partnership and sharing. Are you ready? Dust the furniture and polish the silver. The guests are coming.

Once in a Blue Moon…
“The phrase “once in a blue moon” dates back 400 years and originally meant a rare or dubious event. In the 19th century, a Farmers’ Almanac editor used a blue pencil to circle the date of the fourth Full Moon occurring within a season, which eventually led to an “extra” Full Moon in a month being called a “Blue Moon.” In reality, Blue Moons are not that rare; two Full Moons fall within one calendar month every two to three years. The occurrence of a Blue Moon is due to the structure of our calendar and is not astrologically significant, but has gained attention through widespread repetition, This illustrates the theme of this Full Moon: how the power of individual intention and the force of the collective consciousness combine to create our reality.”
- Stephanie Austin, The Mountain Astrologer, June/July 2015
Thus, we open our eyes, mind and heart to an unusually potent Full “blue” Moon in the early morning hours of July 31, 2015, not so much because of it being the second Full Moon in the July calendar month, but because of the combined energy of the collective notion and feeling that a blue Moon is an unusual, ominous celestial event, and the fact that this particular blue Moon takes place in the power-packed Leo-Aquarius polarity, the polarity linking the individual heart and head with the collective heart and head.
The cosmic door of mass mind and heart opens to the individual mental, social, emotional and spiritual mind and heart within us and we realize we are One. It is a time of “entrainment” that calibrates the individual heartbeat to the collective heartbeat. As a result, we feel the pull to get out, interact with others, see and feel what's going on with the people in our world and neighborhood.
Along with the motivation to connect and interact with others comes an uplifted, Aquarian idealism that awakens us to new realms and possibilities. We see the need for a more enlightened world, a world in which cultural, racial and religious diversity is encouraged and accepted rather than persecuted or exterminated. A world of equality, liberty and freedom, where individual responsibility and respect for others takes precedence over prejudicial feelings, acts and ideas.
And then we have the Lion, romping and roaring, dancing and romancing. Good luck and may the courage and heart of the Lion and the genius and humanity of the Waterbearer be with us All.Happy July “Blue” Moon!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) On August 1, 2015 Master Teacher Saturn ends its yearly retrograde cycle, which began on March 14, 2015 at 05° Sagittarius. Saturn forces us to reassess limits and boundaries, accept responsibility for our actions, circumstances and relationships, set realistic goals and work diligently toward manifesting them. The last months have been a period of review, now it’s time to move forward. Perseverance furthers.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) You’ll be happy to hear that Task Master Saturn turns direct on August 1st in your solar 7th house of important relationships. This heralds the end to a long period of reassessment, review, restructure and rehabilitation regarding others. And in step with several other planetary aspects, the stars align in a major shift from stasis to progress. Reach for the sky, keep your feet on the ground and stay on the path.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) July’s second Full Moon takes place on the 31st in the early degrees of the Leo-Aquarius polarity, one of the year’s two “party” moons. Leo is the sign most associated with fun, romance and creativity while Aquarius seeks collaboration and inspiration from the collective. This translates as a signpost for honoring our common humanity while contributing our individual gifts, light and love to the world.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) A July “blue” Moon comes to fruition on the last day of the month, shining light into the heart and soul of Moonchildren worldwide. You may feel personally illuminated and romantically inspired as a combination of planetary energy kicks in this week to uplift and redirect your course of action and pace of accomplishment. Good choices and personal responsibility are powerful allies now. Do your best and enjoy the rest.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) Personal agendas and desires are illuminated this week as the Leo-Aquarius full Moon lights up matters of partnership, marriage and commitment. The people with whom you share your life, romantically and otherwise, step forward with feedback about your place and space in relationship. Meanwhile Saturn moves forward regarding homelife, children and family. Open your eyes and heart to the new and different.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) Benevolent, good luck Jupiter enters your sign on August 11th, shifting its expansive focus from fiery Leo creativity to earthy Virgo pragmatism. This influence lasts until September 2016 and gives strong favor to simplicity, discernment and self-improvement. It’s an extremely powerful year to clean up messes from the past and move into healthier, happier realms of living and being. Focus on positive solutions and keep the faith.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) The July 31st Leo-Aquarius full Moon favors romance and conviviality. The forward station of Saturn in neighboring Scorpio August 1st indicates a subtle but major change regarding personal will and desire. As you’ve been thinking and re-thinking your modus operandi, what you’ve signed up for and how you’ve loaded your wagon, you know choices are awesome, powerful acts of manifestation. Make wise choices.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) Planet Saturn, Master of Karma, stations direct at 28° Scorpio the day after the July 31st full “blue” Moon. This translates as a powerful shift of awareness, intention and direction regarding personal desires, agendas and will. It’s time to get super-serious about what you want to manifest in life. Knowing what you want – realistically! – is the first big step to getting it. Keep an open mind and heart, do the work, stay the course.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) You may find yourself suddenly involved with something or someone you thought had left or disappeared, vanished from your life. Funny how karma comes back to reward, bite or haunt us. The good news is you are now more prepared to deal with the relationship than you were in the past. Positive solutions and practical actions are winning teammates. Communicate, explore and discover. Just remember to keep it real.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) A convivial, romantically infused full Moon takes place at month’s end, opening hearts and stimulating engagement. You understand the powerful influence and responsibility you have in your own life, which is an incredible gift. Many blame others, give away their power and become victims. Today you stand strong in this knowledge and can act accordingly. Release fears and falsities that may hold you back.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Welcome to a week of shape-shifting awakening and awareness. Game-changing events require a new set of plans and roster of options. Consider the players and who you want on the team. Summer shimmers while autumn beckons. Meanwhile, things are coming to fruition. Keep your eyes on the prize, but don’t count your chickens before they hatch. Focus, patience and perseverance are allies. One day at a time.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) The upcoming Leo-Aquarius full Moon puts you somewhat in the center of the circle when it comes to family and friends. Angelic forces encourage engagement while a call to service opens your heart. Doing what you can to help while maintaining a good set of healthy boundaries is key to success. Positive attitudes and solutions, combined with realistic actions, prove effective. Do what you can, then let it go.

Goldilocks, the Lion and a New Earth-like Planet
Last night on the news I saw that NASA has discovered “a planet at the right temperature within the habitable [Goldilocks] zone, and only about one-and-a-half times the diameter of Earth, circling a star very much like our own sun.”
According to news flashes and Internet articles, this one could be the one. The one that has organic life much like our own home planet Earth. What great stuff for the imagination! It’s fun to consider the possibilities of such an idea. And yet, at 1,400 light years from Earth, we won’t be going there anytime soon.
And then, there’s all the hubbub about our recently demoted “dwarf planet” Pluto. Photos taken by NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft of our far-distant neighbor on its historic flyby of July 14, 2015 has reignited the collective consciousness when it comes to what we have so long referred to as “outer space.” Just the nine-and-a-half-year, 3.6 billion mile journey is daunting.
So, here we are on Earth. Our beautiful, bountiful home planet. What a miraculous wonder to be living and breathing, walking the human evolutionary journey, one moment and day at a time. Like a ginormous Ferris wheel or carnival merry-go-round, we orbit around our Sun, again and again, year after year.
Our time here on Earth is precious. As an innocent, curious child, 100 years sounded like a long, long time. A century? The year 2000? A new millennium? Hard to fathom such far-off, distant points in the ever-mysterious future. But just like the rising and setting Sun, each day folds into the next one and, once again, we are here.
The news of another earth-like planet came to me the on the first day the Sun moved into Leo, sign of life and living. Ruled by the Sun, Leo rules the heart, the center, the core of our being. It is our life force and spirit, the eternal energy that ignites, creates and animates life. It’s what keeps us alive and strong, happy and awake, loving and giving,
Happy Leo zodiac month. May we roar like the Lion, play like children and enjoy each and every moment of our precious lives.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) The Leo zodiac month asks us to be generous of spirit and strong of heart, flamboyant, dramatic and good. For fiery Aries, it’s a call to honesty, integrity and truth. Everything you feel and know in your heart. The center of soul and self, true love and childlike innocence. Focus on gratitude, embrace goodness and experience grace. The world is a magical, magnificent creation. Life is a miracle. And so are you.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) Venus and Uranus go retrograde this week, joining Saturn, Neptune and Pluto in apparent backward motion. This translates as a subtle but powerful shift of energy and will when it comes to wanting, attracting and manifesting. Mercury, Mars and Jupiter direct keep you thinking, doing and exploring, but as far as love and relationships, be patient and sweet. You are preparing for major change, so take it slow.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) Thinking and doing, communication, travel and learning are themes as the Sun tracks through your solar 3rd house of education, curiosity and thought. You may discover the child within as you explore old neighborhoods or return home to visit friends and family. Tap into heartfelt emotions and cultivate the courage to express your feelings. Dare to be corny. Follow the yellow brick road. Have fun. It’s summer!
Cancer (June 20-July 22) As the waxing Moon tracks toward full, summer evenings enchant and intrigue engagement. Get out and listen to music, hold hands with someone you love or discover the healing joy of water. Sweet Venus enters your solar 3rd house of travel this week and gives you a hint of things to come. But for now, home is where the heart is and it’s good. Leo says, “You’re the boss!” and today, you are. Enjoy the show.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) Congratulations on another revolution around the Sun! Your birthday month is here and it’s time to celebrate life. Once again, focus on gratitude and the amazing miracle of birth. Who and what do you love? How much do you express your appreciation and affection for the ones closest and dearest? As you know, courage and fortitude, honesty and integrity are staunch allies on this incredible journey. And you are blessed.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) Sweet, seductive Venus moves into Virgo for a two-week stay and then dances back into Leo. Like a beautiful girl who appears suddenly, loves and comforts you, then suddenly disappears, you may feel enchanted and elated, then left alone at last. Answer to the question of what and why: enjoy what comes and keep the faith. The Universe works in mysterious, magical. Everything is exactly as it should be.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) Inspiration and elevation are themes as the Leo Sun moves into your solar 11th house of hopes, dreams and aspirations. Happiness is a choice that centers on gratitude and golden humility. An unhealthy ego is the root of emotional pain and mental suffering, blocking us from the sunlight of spirit. A variety of multi-faceted jewels glisten in the magical light of day. Open your heart to blessings and choose joy.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) With the Sun, Mercury and Jupiter transiting fiery Leo, you may feel hot flames of achievement heating up your career path and world. Whatever the manifestation, know that good things come to those who get out and about, engage in the social whirl and do the best you can when it comes to manifesting your dreams. Discuss, communicate and express desires. Others find you incredibly attractive. Ask and you shall receive.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) Strong and courageous, true to heart and fiercely loyal, the Lion is a powerful ally to the Archer. Warriors of spirit and crusaders of justice, you make a good team when it comes to the fight for right. Of course, the challenge is in staying out of self-righteous judgment and refraining from the wanton lust of power. That said, enjoy the seductive pleasure and elevated perspective of doing good works. Keep the faith.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, know you are exactly where you should be in this moment. Pluto’s long, ongoing transit through your sign has and continues to be the most transformational, deep and thorough spiritual cleansing of your life. Some astrologers call it “power through pain.” And yet, you remain victorious, a warrior of heart, willing to embrace what comes. Be true to the journey, stay on the path.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Summer is in full force, zodiac Leo roars with passion and you live in the light. Life is good and today you have the great good fortune of knowing how lucky you are. People are also willing and wanting to assist you in achieving your goals, manifesting your dreams and following your lead. Of course, compassion and gratitude are allies on the high road of life. Cultivate humility in the light of success.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) As the Sun enters Leo and lights up your solar 6th house of health and self-improvement, you may feel encouraged and uplifted when it comes to daily practices and routines. Organization is forever a Pisces tonic, a way to put the cosmos in order and keep a handle on the chaos right here on Earth. So why not pull out your broom and go for a ride? A healthier happier you is a healthier happier planet.

Equal and Opposite, Equations and Quantum Mechanical Physics
Light and dark. Day and night. Man and woman. Hot and cold. Love and hate. Faith and fear. Good and bad. Good and evil. Evil?
Our world is a world of polarities, opposites, forever seeking balance. Our Universe and cosmos seek resolution, and eternally, resolution evolves over time. Every action generates an equal and opposite reaction. It’s an equation of energetic force and mass, put into words by Sir Isaac Newton in his Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy, first published in 1687. Thus, Newton’s Laws of Motion, combined with his Law of Universal Gravitation, explained astronomer Johannes Kepler’s Laws of Planetary Motion, three scientific physical laws describing the motion of planets around the Sun, published between 1609-1619.
While Kepler’s Laws of Planetary Motion improved the heliocentric theory of Nicolaus Copernicus, published in 1543 (the year of his death) as a body of work entitled On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres, Newton’s Laws of Motion illuminated the dynamics of astronomy, deepened the understanding of cosmology and laid the foundation for classical mechanical physics.
But we don’t need a science degree in physics to understand a body and a force acting upon that body, or the reaction to that force. We live and breathe it every day of every year of our lives upon this planet Earth.
Today I see the light and dark, good and bad, good and evil in the world. I understand the polarized worlds of doubt and faith, yin and yang, positive and negative, hope and despair, strength and weakness, fear and courage, joy and sorrow. I know that pain and suffering engender compassion, but I have also watched pain and suffering give birth to the darkness of more pain and more suffering; hatred, war, killing and revenge. We really don’t know why or understand how two different people, children, exposed to the same basic circumstances and environment, same biological parents, turn out so different and unique. DNA, nature and/or nuture?
Mystics, magicians, medicine men and women, scientists, gurus, writers, cowboys and cowgirls, philosophers, lay men and women. Seekers of wisdom, knowledge and enlightenment of every shape and size, kind and stripe have pondered - and will continue to ponder - these questions. Forever and ever. Eternally seeking. As long as we humans inhabit the Earth. As long as we walk and live and breathe. And think, feel and heal.
Rainstorms, floods, tsunamis, earthquakes, droughts and other cataclysmic natural disasters, along with famine, war and genocide. All in the mix, all in the equation. And yet there is always the “x” factor in that equation, the unknown. The inevitable Great Mystery. The mystical and divine. Meditation, prayer, service, loving-kindness, acceptance, compassion, forgiveness, gratitude, courage, faith, perseverance; the metaphysical “quarks” of today’s quantum physical lives. The ever-eternal, unlimited possibilities and potential of our Universe.
Happy Cancer New Moon. May you discover your own magical “x” factor and bring your equation into balance and harmony. At least for a minute, a moment in the present. The eternal present. Eternity. Peace, love and starlight…
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) The July 15th Cancer New Moon turns your attention inward and close to home and family. What do you need to live and thrive, feel nurtured and secure? These are questions to ponder and answer in the coming weeks. Consider how important roots are to the health of plants. We humans are very much the same as plants. Also pay attention to emotionally fueled actions and reactions. For quick relief, slow down.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) The week begins with a delicate crescent Moon above the western horizon at dusk. On July 18th a lunar conjunction with Venus, your planetary ruler, portends several days of enhanced romantic and creative opportunity. Whether it is someone you find attractive or a heartfelt desire of some other sort, this is a great time to put the wheels in motion. Communicate feelings, take action and simply do your best.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) A late degree Cancer New Moon initiates a lunar month of personal action and responsibility regarding personal desires and agendas. As a multi-dimensional, multi-talented Gemini, you are capable of wearing many hats, juggling assignments and balancing a lot of plates on sticks. You can pull it off, but at a price. Now it’s time to prune the bush and practice the art of focus. One thing and one day at a time.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) Candles flicker and cakes are cut as the Cancer birthday month marks another revolution around the Sun. It’s time to celebrate life in all its beauty and bounty. Consider paying homage to the Mother Earth, carve out a ritual or say a prayer of gratitude for your many gifts, talents and blessings. Mars and Mercury in your sign call for the deepening of your emotional intelligence. Mind and heart, take the high road.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) Jovial, generous, giant planet Jupiter moves through the late degrees of Leo this week, preparing for an exit in mid-August. You have to admit, it’s been a wild, exciting, enriching ride. Opportunities knocked and you opened the door. And your world has expanded exponentially. Now it’s time to focus on what you’ve created and make it work as efficiently as possible. Practice patience and stay on the path.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 23) Clean out the cobwebs and shake out the rugs. Wash the windows and sweep the floor. It’s time to prepare for a very important guest and it’s wise to put your house in order. Giant Jupiter, the ancient king of gods and lord of thunder, is preparing for an entrance into Virgo in mid-August. This is actually a very fortunate thing, much like winning the lottery or finding buried treasure. The better you are, the better it will be.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 23) Personal and professional goals continue as a theme as a fresh new Moon strikes an emotionally charged chord within the heart and soul. What are you doing to make the world a more peaceful, beautiful, loving place? Are you using natural talents and abilities to create beauty and promote peace? Do you practice justice, honesty, compassion and harmony in your relationships? Do your best and let the Universe take care of the rest.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) Voluptuous Venus enters virginal Virgo this week, calming fires of desire and returning you to Earth in matters of love, romance and finance. In the process, you may discover a renewed sense of hope and inspiration. You can see the forest for the trees, the meaning behind the madness and the great gifts of life’s ongoing magical mystery tour. Surround yourself with goodness and just continue doing the next right thing.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 20) The last week of zodiac Cancer gives birth to a graceful, delicate Cancer New Moon. Shining above the western horizon in twilight, it joins force with beautiful Venus on July 18th for an evening of enchantment. Take note of your goals and aspirations now, pay attention to heartfelt emotions and practice the art of discernment. Put less on your plate, be realistic with your time and focus on what’s right in front of you.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) Love and money planet Venus enters Virgo this week for an extended stay, longer than usual due to an upcoming July 24th retrograde. This is good news for wizened Capricorns, a celestial trine that portends a rather long period of expansion, enlightenment and opportunity for those willing to walk the high road of spiritual truth and justice. Be honest with others, focus on goodness, gratitude and think positive.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Jupiter’s last few weeks in lion-hearted Leo encourage you to be as loving, spiritually generous and positive regarding others. Fairness, justice and equanimity are allies in your yearly journey around the Sun. Today you are gifted and blessed, in position to help and assist those less fortunate than you are. So be of service. Also favored are programs of self-improvement. Practice daily, do the work.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) As Master Teacher Saturn wraps up it’s last few weeks in Scorpio and prepares to resume forward motion into Sagittarius, take note of your spiritual philosophies and belief systems. How have you restructured your understanding of life and the after life? Is there more than matter in the Universe? What is spirit? Relationships move into a sweet space as Venus moves into Virgo. Enjoy the ones you love, love the ones you’re with.

Summer's Sweet Surrender
Here we are, moving through summer. The wild, wonderful 4th of July holiday has passed. Our hearts have felt the power and glory of sizzling summer days and enchanting summer nights. Flowers blossom and fruits ripen. Afternoon monsoons leave us with dewy meadows and shimmering rainbows. The night skies sparkle with stars.
Many of us are busy, busy, busy, watching summer slip away. But whatever we’re doing, it’s time to make hay while the Sun shines. Time to catch a free concert, or two or three, up at the Sunset Plaza or the Ridgway Town Park, go swimming in Ouray or take a hike to see the wildflowers up Tomboy Road or Yankee Boy Basin. And then there are all the other summer activities people do and want to do. Plenty to do, for sure.
The Cancer zodiac month is up front and center when it comes to summer. Although true mid-summer takes place during the powerful cross-quarter week of Leo in the first week of August, the strong initiating cardinal energy of the tropical zodiac’s first water sign [Cancer] surrounds us with hypnotic, nurturing waves of our Mother Earth’s abundant beauty and bounty.
The rhythmic sound and stunning, mystical beauty of her oceans, the magnificent mountains and whispering forests, sweet cherries and rosy peaches, seduce and sedate us like a magical tonic made just for summer’s sweet surrender.
Yes, surrender. Sweet. Summer. Surrender. Summer’s sweet surrender. Do it whenever you can. Surrender to the summer. The Mother. The Mother Earth's sweet summer. Surrender. Yes.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) As the Cancer zodiac month marches on, nights grow dark and the stars sparkle. It’s a great week for more reflection and less action, but good luck with that! Plenty of emotional awareness may have you thinking about relationships. Don’t get caught up in internal dialogs that focus on what you’re not getting from others and instead focus on what you do. Why create suffering? Life is a miracle, enjoy the mystery.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) With Saturn retrograde in secretive Scorpio, you may find yourself hiding out, withholding emotions or simply returning to old haunts and habits regarding others. Doubts and suspicions in relationships may resurface as you question progress and honesty in relationships. Hang in there and let it evolve. By week’s end, the stars align for that needed conversation or negotiation. Focus on a positive outcome.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) A late-rising, waning Moon leaves us with a stellar, diamond-studded night sky. Slip out into the evening darkness and catch a glimpse of the heavens. Summer provides us with a variety of options and opportunities to appreciate the natural life on our magical planet Earth. Don’t let it them pass you by. Also consider expressing the deep love and gratitude for the special people in your life. They won’t be here forever.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) As the Gemini lunar cycle moves toward closure, go out into the night and day; immerse yourself in its natural beauty and bounty. Stars sparkle and rivers rush, flowers blossom and fruits ripen. Summer is a time of embrace, a time to love and live fully. Do it. And while you do, accept responsibility for your personal health and happiness. You have everything you need; cultivate the wisdom to see and know it.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) Jupiter and Venus together in Leo, happy ever after. And with the Sun moving ever closer to entering your sign, you may be feeling the strong power and gratitude for life. How did you get so lucky? An open, loving heart guarantees that you will enjoy every day and night you have on Earth. Even if it hurts. So follow your heart and keep it open. Love is the answer and happiness is the key. Be courageously you.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) You may find yourself wanting to express some rather deep feelings to people you love and respect, yet you feel tentative and somewhat frightened at the prospect. The big challenge is in overcoming doubt and embracing courage. And, of course, you have nothing to fear, except fear itself. You will be amazed at the powerful, healing results of courage. Tap into your inner strength and be sweet as you go.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) As you approach the July 15th Cancer New Moon, take note of the world around you. Is your immediate environment nurturing and aesthetically pleasing? Do you find comfort and pleasure in the people with whom you share your homelife? How are your family relationships? Is there someone you need to hug or embrace with love? This dark moon week is perfect for enriching soul and spirit. Do the work, reap the rewards.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) Master Teacher planet Saturn retrograde in the late degrees of Scorpio squares sweet Venus in Leo this week, summoning you to bring more beauty and balance into your life, especially in regard to relationships, finances and creative pursuits. This is an excellent time to go deep and identify what might benefit by a little bolstering and improvement, consider how to get there and to commit to the path.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) Mercury, Mars and the Sun in Cancer line up to join the Moon in Cancer at week’s end in the advent of another fresh lunar cycle. This planetary combination calls for a deepening of our emotional intelligence and strengthens our innate spiritual ability to understand, communicate and act appropriately where our feelings are concerned. Be strong, be brave and be compassionate. And, as always, keep the faith.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) Serious Saturn retrograde in secretive, power-hungry Scorpio squares sweet, seductive Venus in flamboyant Leo at week’s end, paving the way for several days of examination regarding issues of control and freedom in relationships. Personal self-expression is a theme as you observe the behavior patterns at work in your closest, most cherished involvements. The answer: love and let go. Trust the Universe.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Love and faith are celestial themes as the Moon wanes and night skies sparkle. Life is good today and you know it. Of course, it didn’t happen overnight or arrive with out hard work, struggle and challenge. You are gifted with the divine talent of focus and power of commitment. Now it’s time demonstrate the appreciation and gratitude you feel for the people who have helped you along the way.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) The Moon rises later and grows smaller each night this week, moving ever closer to its new Moon conjunction with the Sun on the evening of July 15th. As always, waning Moons are perfect times for inner work, taking inventory and preparing for the lunar month ahead. And late degree Cancer is all about emotional evolution; the heart-to-head quotient and body-soul connection. Do your best, follow your heart.

My Oh My! The 4th of July...with Mom, Home and Apple Pie
It’s hard to believe it’s already the 4th of July. Wow! Time is moving at warp speed and it seems like everyone is busy, busy, busy. Busy at work, busy on vacation, busy in the garden…pulling weeds, transplanting tomatoes, peppers and melons, making sure everything has water – including me!
All around us here on Wrights Mesa, farmers are cutting and baling hay. Big fat windrows and magnificent hay-bales shimmer in the summer sun. Venus and Jupiter sparkle at twilight, while July’s mystical “guru” Moon rises full and bright, shrouded in silvery mist and iridescent clouds. Today I got drenched in an afternoon monsoon, tempting fate by staying outside just a little too long. Now the world is washed clean, the dust is settled and I can hear the faint, sweet sounds of baby bluebirds in the spruce trees around our house. They have successfully left their nest – in spite of all those gang-bang sparrows - and are being watched, fed and nurtured by a cerulean-blue daddy and silvery-blue mom.
And that’s what it’s all about now. Feeding and nurturing life, taking care of ourselves and others, feeling the great sustaining power of the Mother Earth in all her bounty and beauty. It’s time to feel the gratitude and experience the grace of our great good fortune, living and breathing on this magical planet, a planet full of organic life, plants and animals, rocks and minerals, our Home. Always here for us, rain or shine, night and day, in sickness and in health. Our Home, our Mother, our Earth, our Freedom and our Right to Pursue Happiness in the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Mom, home and apple – or cherry, blueberry, peach, strawberry-rhubarb – pie. And that’s what it’s all about. Happy 4th of July. Happy Independence Day. Blessings, peace and, of course, starlight! Or is that fireworks?
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) The Cancer-Capricorn full Moon comes to fruition each summer with the intention of opening our hearts and healing our pain. The great nurturing power of the Mother Earth remains constant, it is always there for us. Take note of what has happened to you over the last week. Who and what came into your life? Are you giving what you want to receive? Tap into natural love and trust in its power.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) Masculine Mars joined up with the guru Moon on July 1st for an illuminating look into the maternal side of men and boys. Summer reminds us of our youth, its innocence and vulnerability, our dependence upon our mothers, home and family. Tap into the sense of place and security that comes with childhood memories, 4th of July celebrations and the warmth of summer nights. Feel the Mother; embrace her love.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) Masculine and feminine, yin and yang dance a dance of love and power as you move through summer’s sizzling days and warm, embracing nights. Courage and compassion are themes as Mars in Cancer encourages the development of the emotional body and its capacity to feel. This is a call for the supportive, nurturing side of ego and will rather than domination and force. Be kind to yourself and others.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) Cancer is the sign of the mother and child, the archetype of nurturance and growth. Capricorn represents adulthood, authority, autonomy and responsibility. As the recent full Moon brought maternal-paternal polarities to light, it’s time to balance vulnerability with strength, dependence with independence. Take care of others, but first take good care of you – stay happy and healthy. It’s the best way to help the world.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) With Venus and Jupiter still dancing in Leo, life has to be good. If it’s not, what are you doing to make it not so? Disaster translates as “against the stars” so if you are party to any disasters these days, it is time to identify your part and quit playing the game. That said, you know life is a miraculous gift, a sparkling jewel. You are blessed and fortunate. It takes courage to open your heart and love unconditionally. Be courageous.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) Duty and responsibility, love and courage are themes as you move through the third week of the Gemini-Cancer lunar month. Mighty Mars, ancient god of war and men, has moved into the zodiac’s most maternal, nurturing sign, sending signals and mandates for a kinder, gentler approach to love and life. Align personal will with divine will for a happy, healthy existence here on Mother Earth. It’s the only way to go.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) A dynamic cardinal planetary square, following the fruition of a “Marsy” full Moon in Cancer-Capricorn translates as a week of powerful force and experience regarding love, life and relationships. Career goals, home, family and personal egos dance as Venus and Jupiter shimmer with idealistic visions, hopes and dreams. As always, keep it in the balance. Open the soft, sweet part of your heart and embrace its grace.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) The Cancer zodiac month comes as a time of annual inspiration and enlightenment for the Scorpion. And this year, with motivational Mars also moving through the sign of the Great Mother, you may feel even more positive and enthusiastic about pursuing personal themes of emotional healing and self-nurturing. What we feel, we can heal. Open your heart to the power of truth and trust the high road of spirit.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) The flags and flamboyance of America’s Independence Day hits you deep, heart and soul. You love the passion of patriotic pomp and ceremony, but you are also wise to know the reality of hypocrisy hiding behind the flash. Most of all, you enjoy the summer fun, camaraderie, fireworks and memories. It’s a perfect time to indulge in hope and idealistic thinking. So go ahead, indulge, focus on goodness and enjoy the festivities.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) Courageous Mars in opposite Cancer fuels personal wants and desires in relationships this week and month. Whether it is you doing the wanting or someone with whom you are involved, passion and will are themes. Whatever comes, accept it as necessary and destined for the two of you to learn, grow and evolve. Taking responsibility for your part in sharing and pairing is huge as it’s the happy road to freedom.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) You may be working overtime when it comes to personal projects and daily chores. Summer is like that, after all. The good news is that are serving a worthy purpose, making the world and environment a healthier, more beautiful place to live and thrive. And don’t forget how much others appreciate your efforts. In fact, they are ready and willing to help out and give you anything you ask for. All you have to do is ask.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) The Cancer zodiac month comes packed with ripe cherries, sweet strawberries and ripening corn, along with swimming pools and fireworks. What’s not to like? For the Fish, this translates as a very romantic, nostalgic time of year, a time to laugh, recreate, have fun and celebrate life. But don’t be surprised if you find yourself caught up in the pleasure of serving and improving. Balance work with play.

Visible planets: Morning: Mercury Evening: Venus, Jupiter, Saturn
All Light and Bright and Shining, Shining, Shining...
If you haven’t noticed the celestial event happening in the western twilight sky the entire month of June, perhaps it’s time to take a look.
Our solar system’s two most brilliant and easily identifiable planets – beautiful Venus and magnanimous Jupiter – have been dancing above the western horizon at dusk, and on into evening for weeks. And it has been magnificent.
Venus and Jupiter come together in what is called a planetary conjunction approximately once a year, but due to perpetually changing astronomical conditions, including time of day and the astronomical location of each planet in its orbit around the Sun, views from Earth range from being not visible, too early in the morning for most people to see and spectacular. And this one is spectacular.
I have been watching Venus – the ancient goddess of love and beauty – and Jupiter – the mythical god of gods – ever since I was a teenager. I have found them both to be faithful and loyal companions, spirit guides and beacons of light and inspiration on my road of life. I understand why the ancients felt the planets, or the “wandering stars,” were gods and goddesses keeping watch on us down here on Earth. When I gaze into the infinite, blue-back canopy of deep space, I can feel divinity in the heavens. I see eternity; the boundless mystery of creation, sparkled with twinkling diamonds. Points of light, shimmering and shining. Forever and always, it’s from where we came, where we are and to where we are going. The spiraling cycle of life; from dust to dust, stardust to stardust.
And tonight and for several more nights, together in evening twilight, Venus and Jupiter, companion planets to our Mother Earth, caught in an intimate, divine embrace. With us all the way - day by day and night to night - on our journey through the cosmos. All light and bright and shining, shining, shining...
So, be sure to take a look at Venus and Jupiter tonight, and for several nights, above the western horizon in twilight. See what they have to say and share. They will be low and brilliant, shimmering and shining. And keep watching them as they move toward their exact conjunction on the evening of Tuesday, June 30th when they will be 0.3° apart. Jupiter will be slightly above Venus and less bright. Venus is closer to Earth [48 million miles] and brighter. Jupiter is duller and further from Earth [565 million miles] and on the other side of the solar system. And for those of you who want to know more about these planets and their recurring conjunctions, just google “Venus Jupiter conjunction 2015″ and you'll find all kinds of stuff. My favorite, go-to, user-friendly webslite is Sky & Telescope, Sky at a Glance. All of the graphic star charts on this post are courtesy of their website. Thanks!
All light and bright and shining, shining, shining…
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) As Venus and Jupiter move ever closer in the western twilight sky, take note of what you feel in your heart. This very visible planetary conjunction of love [Venus] and magnanimity [Jupiter] is taking place in your solar 5th house of romance and creativity, sparking passion, stimulating desire and opening you to the multi-faceted possibilities of sharing and pairing. Much like a precious jewel, handle it with care.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) Summer sizzles as sweet, seductive Venus – the Bull’s ruling planet - pairs up with happy-go-lucky, generous giant Jupiter, expanding personal boundaries and opening doors of spirit, compassion and love where family members and domestic issues are concerned. Somehow you see the magic behind the madness, the unique path each person travels and the ultimate freedom of acceptance. Embrace the peace of understanding.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) As you move into the second zodiac month of your solar year, embrace the freedom of self-responsibility. Understanding that we teach people how to treat us and that we are ultimately responsible for the quality and quantity of our personal life and relationships is authentically empowering. Victim mentalities simply create suffering and keep us stuck. Love and compassion are allies on the high road of spirit.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) Congratulations on another revolution around the Sun! It’s time to celebrate life in all its magic and magnificence. Consider what truly makes you feel good and prepare to let more of whatever that is into your head, heart and soul. Self-nurturing and self-care is often left by the wayside on the road of caretaking and caring for others. Now it is time to honor, love and take care of you. And you’re the only one who can. Happy birthday.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) The amazing power of love and the supreme power of spirit dance together in your sign this week as sweet Venus and noble Jupiter join force in a duet of open-hearted giving, sharing and pairing. As life evolves, we experience strong attractions to people, places and things. We become attached to ideas and outcomes. We attempt to control others. Now you see the true power of letting all that go. Welcome to peace and joy.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) Angels and spirits are floating and flying above and all around you this week. Your job is looking, listening and learning from them. How so? It’s all about relaxing, releasing, accepting, loving and sharing. Cancer energy favors nurturing behaviors for body, mind and spirit. Venus and Jupiter shimmer with love and good fortune. Treat yourself kindly and be kind to others. Eat good food, open your heart and live in the light.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) Welcome to one of the most metaphysically potent weeks of the year. As sweet, seductive Venus dances with strong, charismatic Jupiter, the cosmos resonate with the power of love and spirit. Yin and yang, male and female, it’s all about opening our hearts, trusting in goodness and keeping the faith. Mystery-funk is usually attachment to ego and the material world. Let it go. Trust in love and life. Let it go.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) A powerful, dynamic week presents itself and promises great gains in all matters of heart and spirit. Take a good look at the western sky at twilight and you will understand. Cosmic forces are at work, and it’s your job to get in synch with the universal flow. Listen for celestial music, spend time in natural environments and embrace the awesome power of the Mother Earth. This is your moment and the time is now.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) A magnificent fire-sign conjunction of Venus and Jupiter ignites a week of sweet love and uplifting spirit for the Archer. And with the Sun moving through maternal Cancer, you may find yourself reaching out to help others, be of service and nurture the best within to make the world a healthier, happier place to live and thrive. This may sound idealistic and altruistic, but after all, are not you here to do and be exactly that?
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) Other people, places and things call out to you for engagement, involvement and interaction as the Cancer zodiac month opens the door on the second half of your solar year. You may find yourself magnetically attracted to someone or something, as if some mysterious force were directing your course. Follow the signs and omens, trust your intuition and remain vulnerable when it comes to love. Release ego, feel your heart.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Love planet Venus trines your ruling planet Uranus in fire a couple days prior to its conjunction with all-powerful, Midas-touch Jupiter in Leo this week, adding a wildly good-luck, good-fortune glow to your week. Pay attention to your thoughts, ideas and conversations, contact friends, communicate feelings and listen to what others have to say. This is an excellent time to share time, emotions and experience. Go for gusto.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Heart and soul, love and romance, good luck and good fortune are themes this week as seductive Venus pairs up with generous Jupiter in the western twilight sky. Also at work are the nurturing forces of maternal Cancer A the Mother Earth shimmers and shines in all her power and glory. Find time to relax in beauty and peace, open your heart and discover the shimmering stars in and all around you.

The Magic of Music, Mountains & Memories
It’s Summer Solstice and Bluegrass in Telluride. How often these two stellar events coincide with each other. And rightly so. The Telluride Bluegrass Festival is a premier event celebrating music, mountains and the glorious, stunning magnificence of Mother Nature. After all, it’s Summer!
So many years, so many festivals and so much awesome music. From the homegrown, humble beginnings of that first Telluride Bluegrass Festival to the world class, state-of-the- art status of the TBF today - with a new, hot-off-the-press book Telluride Bluegrass Festival: Forty Years of Festivation by Dan Sadowsky, aka Pastor Mustard; one of Telluride’s best loved TBF emcees and amazing, talented musician himself - its essence remains the same. Dancing in the sun – or rain! – standing in the Telluride Town Park surrounded by the incredibly gorgeous peaks keeping watch over Telluride, witnessing the powerful hydro-dynamics of Ingram Falls cradled in the crotch below Ajax Mountain, listening to the sounds of banjos, mandolins, guitars and the magical harmonics of Sam Bush, John Cowan and Bela Fleck, it’s still all there.
I have so many memories, as we all do, of Bluegrass. Here’s to those sweet days gone by and all the memories – Fred Shellman, Dunton Hot Springs, motorcycle rides over Lizard Head Pass with the real Don Johnson, my husband Richard in charge of backstage security in those early days - employing all his rough and tumble friends to help – and being there up close and personal with the likes of Doc Watson, Willie Nelson, Rosanne Cash, Emily Lou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, et al, to today, the present. Thanks to everyone and everything. And most of all, thanks to the Sun, the Moon, the stars and our Mother Earth. Blessings, peace and starlight.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) Summer solstice marks the first major crossroads of your solar year, a time of personal reckoning and readjustment. Spring got you up and running, dealing with issues of personal desire and identity, income and resource issues. Now you are ready to take a good long look at where you live, how you feel and whether or not you want to make a move. This is a time to go deep and find out who you are now.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) As spring morphs into summer, the Bull finds plenty of things to do and people to see. The Cancer zodiac month is one of more social interaction, travel and fun, a time to relax in the warming weather and bountiful beauty of nature. Whether it is a magnificent flower garden or a delicious strawberry that delights your senses, indulge in the evocative smells, tastes and textures that come your way. Enjoy life.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) Now that ruler Mercury is direct and you are back on track, take some time to consider the quality of your life and health. No doubt there are a few areas that will benefit from some focus, attention and bolstering. How often do you consider your spiritual fitness and its direct connection to your physical and emotional wellness? Are you walking enough? It’s time to work on a happier, healthier you. Yeah, just do it!
Cancer (June 20-July 22) Congratulations on another revolution around the Sun! A year older and wiser, this is your birthday month, the time to celebrate life on this magnificent, magical planet Earth. Gather your time and energy, take a good look around and consider what sort of special and unique things you want to do on your birthday. As a mini-forecast of the coming year, it is a day to honor and respect. Just as you are. Do what YOU want to do.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) With sweet Venus and generous Jupiter both moving through jubilant Leo, embrace the power and grace of the strong and courageous Lion. As the king and/or queen of beasts, this majestic animal symbolizes the best of what you are, the best you can be. Consider how to be stronger, braver, more loyal, royal, loving and giving. Share your bounty with family, friends and lovers. Smile, laugh, hug, kiss and live in light.
Virgo(Aug. 22-Sep. 22) Angels and guardian spirits open doors and illuminate pathways of goodness and grace as loving Venus and magnanimous Jupiter shine light upon the people, places and situations that promise to uplift, encourage, inspire and support you along the often challenging road of life. Stay present, pay attention to what comes your way and focus on the next right thing. A positive attitude and a grateful heart are allies.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) Summer solstice marks the halfway point through the second half of your solar year, a time of heightened achievement, professional and social activity. You may find yourself working hard for yourself and others, enjoying the action and reaping the rewards. Just remember to balance labor with a program of healthy recovery. Find time to relax and enjoy the magnificent beauty and bounty of summer.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) Welcome to the year’s most vibrant season. Summer is here and it’s time to take flight. Take out the road atlas and consider where you want to go. Distant horizons beckon and it’s a great zodiac month to explore what lies beyond. Discovery is what fuels your engines now, staying at home just won’t cut it. Walks in nature, camping, road trips and a good book uplift the spirit and renew the soul. Onward cosmic traveler!
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) With Mars and Mercury [now direct] in Gemini, you may feel as if the veil has lifted, the clouds have disappated. Partners and mates are finally showing appreciation, cooperating and behaving in ways you like. Ha ha! Remember, it’s really all about what you do, not them. We teach people how to treat us and personal responsibility is a staunch ally on the road of sharing and pairing. Identify your part and enjoy the ride.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) Welcome the second half of your solar year, a time to move from the personal realm of me, myself and I into the world of we. Sharing and pairing is the name of the game now. You are now ready to move from the personal, internal realm into the more social, interpersonal worlds of the people, places and things outside your door. Be and do your best. And go with grace.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Summer comes with guts and glory, brilliant sunsets and shimmering night skies. Warming days lead to enchanting evenings and while you may find yourself working overtime or burning the candle at both ends, make sure you don’t let this magical season rush by without a camping excursion or happy trails road trip. Think about where to go, what to do and whom you want to go with. Stay open; the rest will fall in place.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Summer, summer, summer! You love it and you know it. You can feel it heart and soul, in your bones. Childhood memories of warm nights, no school and neighborhood play-pals remind you of what makes it all so special. Now it’s time to rekindle the magic and romance of those times and embrace the most exciting, intriguing, sensuous season of the year. Feel and follow your heart, here and there.

The June New Moon Stop & Go, Start & Finish, Feel the Love
Here we are, the middle of June, with summer solstice rapidly approaching. Yesterday it rained cats and dogs, water everywhere. A little natural-flow-pond appeared in our yard around our healthiest aspen tree, voila! Hail pelted the beautiful spinach and lettuce in our cool weather crop vegetable garden, but the basil on the east side of the greenhouse came through unharmed. Fortunately, most of my tomatoes and all the peppers were under cover, so they survived unscathed. Everything else seemed to enjoy the flurry.
And I love the moisture, I really do. Living in the desert southwest, albeit on a high mountain mesa, rain and snow are magical and precious commodities.
Of course, these days we all talk and hear about climate change and global warming, disappearing flora and fauna. Severe weather seems the norm. Drought and deluge, burning hots and bone-chilling cold.
I have to admit this last winter was unusual. January and February felt like April and May, April and May felt like February and March. There was a noticeable lack of bald eagles wintering here last winter, and this spring the bluebirds are fewer and farther between. It makes me wonder what’s going on, and I feel a loss, a sense of sorrow. Is it fear?
I know in my heart, it’s all a bigger picture. The evolutionary effect of human life upon planet Earth is a powerful logrhythmic force, way beyond my control. I have to accept it. It is what it is. That’s not to say I’m unaware of my personal carbon footprint, or everyone else’s. I am. And that’s one of the reasons I have gotten into growing as much organic food as I can.
The June New Moon takes place in Gemini on June 16th @ 8:05 am MDT and initiates another lunar month. Mercury goes direct on June 11th at 04°35’ Gemini while Neptune turns retrograde on June 12th at 09°49’ Pisces. Both Saturn [in Scorpio] and Pluto [in Capricorn] are also retrograde, while Mars [Gemini], Venus [Leo] and Jupiter [Leo] are moving direct. This translates as a package of stop and go, start and finish, old and new. In general, it’s a great time to get going and put effort into either starting or finishing whatever you want to start or finish,
take inventory of your spiritual condition and seriously address your physical and material goals. This is an excellent time to go deep, come up with plans and strategies for achievement and work on manifestation, one day and project at a time. And, with Venus and Jupiter now direct in Leo, to truly feel the power of love in your heart and follow the love. Express and live in love, create and live life to its fullest. Good luck!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) Mercury goes stationery direct on June 11th and says goodbye to a three-week period of relative stasis, something action-loving Aries do not enjoy. Moving forward is what you live for, but rushing past what needs attention creates bigger problems in the long run. With Neptune going retrograde in Pisces June 12th, it’s a good time to refocus attention on your spiritual condition. Do the work, reap the rewards.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) A planetary combination of stop and go, start, finish and begin again continues as Mercury goes direct but several other planets move retrograde. A relationship issue you thought had been taken care of may return for another go-round, a partner may need extra time and attention or you realize that some people and situations aren’t worthy of your time. Seek out wise friends for counsel and stay true to your values.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) Saturn moves retrograde from Sagittarius into Scorpio this week, encouraging another look at personal programs of self-improvement. Health is wealth and you know it. Why then, do you avoid the challenges of commitment when it comes to losing or gaining weight, eating right and maintaining a daily spiritual practice? Good news is you may be finally ready and willing to commit. One day at a time.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) A fresh new Moon in late degree Gemini falls close to the cusp of the 12th and 1st houses of your solar chart. This translates as a fortuitous time for wrapping up whatever needs closure or completion, picking yourself up and starting fresh wherever personal wants and needs are concerned. Know thyself is the magic mantra here. Tap into your higher self and soar above your life. What do you see?
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) The Sun and Moon conjunct hot, metallic Mars in quicksilver Gemini feels like full speed ahead, but hey, not so fast! This new Moon sets the stage for the upcoming month, so it’s wise to take your time and look before you leap. Taking place in your solar 11th house of inspirational goals and heartfelt wishes, consider what you truly value and aspire to. Plant seeds of intention in the fertile cosmic soil of our ever-expanding Universe.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) This week’s late degree Gemini new Moon falls in the latter portion or your solar 10th house of career, achievement and ambition. This placement offers up a rather rich and bountiful basket of professional and social choices and possibilities, a veritable smorgasbord of options. Consider what is most important to you personally; does your work support your values? Start a project, enhance your image.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) Motivator Mars conjunct this week’s Gemini new Moon jumpstarts and awakens some of those sleeping ambitions and higher callings regarding your life purpose and spiritual path. You may have recently felt out-of-synch or lost in a sea of internal dialogs that caused static and preempted peace, going through the motions but feeling inauthentic. You may have been stuck, but now it’s time for traction.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) Master Teacher Saturn retrogrades into Scorpio this week, adding a touch of déjà vu to the colors and flavors of your days and weeks. Meanwhile, another lunar month begins with the June16th Gemini New Moon, providing you with a platform upon which to launch your most cherished, close-to-the-heart dreams and desires. Go deep and discover the secret, hidden treasure of what you truly love.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) Another fortuitous opportunity to utilize the power of intention and desire comes in the shape of a fresh new Moon this week. Taking place in your solar 7th house of long-term relationships and commitments, planetary energies favor activities and communications with existing or potential partners, mates and significant others. Focus on one-to-one encounters and quality rather than quantity. Share and pair.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) Health and fitness are themes in the upcoming weeks for the Mountain Goat as this week’s new Moon favors the initiation of any and all programs of self-betterment and self-improvement. Getting in shape and staying in shape are important ingredients in the recipe of a happy life. Take a good look at what you put in your mouth, how much you walk and whether or not you spend time in silence.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Personal creative juices flow fast and strong as the Sun and Moon come together in your solar 5th house of the heart. Whether it’s romance or finance, you may find yourself busy at work doing something you love. Happiness is often a choice and you are fortunate to be making good ones. Stay active and keep busy, but be sure to include some relaxation and recreation in your week. Life on Earth is a magical gift, enjoy it.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Planetary ruler Neptune goes retrograde in early Pisces on June 12th and is followed by Saturn’s entrance into Scorpio a few days later. Then comes the mutable sign New Moon in Gemini, setting the stage for another go round regarding personally important projects and relationships. Take a good look at your immediate environment and relationships. Identify what you want to improve and go forth.

Mercury Retrograde Rides Again!
It’s pouring rain and I’m thinking about the Chamber Day Celebration planned for today in Norwood. There’s a free pancake breakfast, a community yard sale and a pulled pork BBQ lunch at the Community Center in town. In Telluride, it’s Huck Finn Day, with festivities in the Town Park, including wagon rides with Roudy, my favorite local cowboy and very vocal proponent regarding the woes of Mercury retrograde. Today is no doubt going to be one of those Mercury Rx days he puts in his top 10.
Roudy loves to call me and leave messages on the answer phone about Mercury retrograde. And they are always classic examples, for sure, of what can, and does, go wrong during these three times a year, three-week periods of apparent backward planetary motion.
And how about the wild tornadoes, torrential rain, golf ball and baseball sized hail along the Front Range up north near Boulder, Berthoud and Longmont? I remember asking my Mother about tornadoes after she took us to see The Wizard of Oz at the Paramount Theatre in downtown Denver. It wasn’t the scary Wicked Witch of the West that gave me nightmares, it was the raging tornado that lifted Dorothy’s little farmhouse up off the ground and landed it on top of another wicked witch in a land far, far away from her home and family in Kansas.
My Mother wisely calmed my fears. “Don’t worry, honey. The Colorado Rocky Mountains keep the tornadoes away from us here in Denver. They protect us and keep us safe.” From that day forward, I loved the Rocky Mountains.
The rain is still pounding and I see there are flash flood warnings out on the Channel 9 News weather app on my iPhone for SE Utah and SW Colorado. My plans for the day have changed. I’ve canceled on the yard sale, notified my friend Marilyn – who said, “Maybe they’ll take a rain check” when I called her this morning – and have started a fire in our woodstove. There are plenty of things for me to do inside. You know, all those things I’ve put off while the weather was good and outside gardening projects beckoned. Or maybe just relax! Imgaine that. C’est la vie. I’ll just be glad I don’t have to go anywhere, enjoy the dramatic weather and bless the rain.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) If you find yourself returning to old patterns of thinking and behaving, don’t be surprised. Mercury retrograde – along with several other planets – in your solar 3rd house of thoughts and communication pulls you back to days and ways of living and being that may or not be who or what you find appealing today. The past is a magical mirror of reflection and direction. Move forward in the wisdom of its light.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) Sweet Venus enters flamboyant, romantic Leo on June 5th and lights a five-week fire of passion inside your heart and home. Whether it’s love for children, grandchildren, parents or other family members, you may find yourself reflecting upon childhood memories and experiences that actually deepen your feelings and appreciation for what you have today. Stay on track regarding chores and responsbilities. Get ‘er done!
Gemini (May 20-June 20) The last week of ruler Mercury retrograde in Gemini awards you with plenty of opportunities for cleaning up, fixing up, organizing and taking care of whatever needs to be taken care of. Most of this stuff is personal stuff, things you or want to do anyway, so there are tons of rewards and self-gratification in the process. Go ahead and be selfish, put yourself and your projects first. You’ll be glad you did.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) Love planet Venus gives a quick hug to Saturn in Sagittarius as she passes from five weeks of Cancer into Leo, blows you kisses and waves goodbye. Well, it was nice while it lasted, but there were also plenty of bumps along the way. Looking back, everything turned out in your favor, and it’s all good. Now you face the warming, happy days of summer. Tend your garden, enjoy the heat and count your blessings.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) With the Sun, Mars and [the last week of] Mercury retrograde in Gemini, there has to be plenty of retro action in your life regarding old friends and associates. Whether it’s Facebook, phone calls, letters, coincidental encounters or a planned trip to childhood haunts and homes, chances are you are living and breathing memories and feelings, reflecting upon where you are today in light of the past. Take it all in.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) If you find yourself reviving or reliving the past and regretting your choices, stop right now. Where you were got you to where you are today and it’s exactly where you are supposed to be. The past is a magical navigational tool. It is a golden treasure chest of gems and jewels, especially for you. Every day begins anew. There are solutions to every problem. Simply do your best and let the Universe take care of the rest.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) With ruler Venus entering Leo for a five-week stay, open your heart to friends and lovers, lovers and friends. It may sound corny, but dare to be corny! Tell the people you love you love them; show up with flowers, do something outrageously romantic. Tap into that inner child and have fun, explore your neighborhood and laugh as much as possible. And take the high road whenever possible. The veiw is superb.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) If you’re familiar with Mercury retrograde, you may know this rather contrary, tricky three-week period is known for mechanical breakdowns, communication glitches and travel problems. Good news is it favors returning to wherever you have been and whatever you have started. So, have at it. There are plenty of things you can turn to and take care of, including what you’ve postponed. Do what you need to.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) Relationship issues continue as a priority and focus this week, so stay the course and finish the job. Whether it’s helping someone relocate, move or relocating yourself, chances are it’s a plan that has been in the works for quite some time. The last week of Mercury retrograde promises great reward to those willing to honor a commitment and hang in until the end. Challenges offer the greatest rewards. Yes.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) As June begins and summer beckons, you may find yourself reminising about your deepest, most meaningful relationships. Venus is Leo is rather sentimental, and your solar 8th house of intimate sharing and hidden desire is where she happens to be traveling. With the last week of Mercury retrograde also at work, it’s the perfect time for compassion and forgiveness regarding past loves. Follow your heart.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) A combination of past memories and present feelings combine in a sweet mix of relationship appreciation and improvement as sweet Venus enters your solar 7th house of pairing and sharing for a five-week stay. And with the last week of Mercury retrograde moving through your solar 5th house of love and romance, what better time to make amends, calm the waters and enjoy the present?
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) The last and final week of Mercury retrograde in your solar 4th house of home and family awards you with everything you need to finish up unfinished domestic projects, tie up personal lo0se ends and prepare yourself for the, upcoming and busy month of June. Enjoy the somewhat retro energy of these days; redefine the present and revision the future. Good luck and may the Force be with you!

Gemini-Sagittarius Full Moonlight of the Mind & Mental Plane
Full Moons bring light to dark, illuminating what has been hidden, or in the shadows of our lives and consciousness. On a full Moon, we experience the Sun and Moon aligned in what is called a “planetary” opposition; one celestial body opposes the other at specific, and opposite, points along the ecliptic plane of the Earth’s 360° orbit around the Sun. The tropical zodiac’s twelve equal 30° astrological signs delineate the heavenly backdrop – as seen from Earth – giving us a star-studded map from which to chart the movement of the Sun, Moon and planets as we make our yearly journey around the Sun, providing us with the sign and degree of each and every new and full Moon of every solar and lunar month.
Each full Moon of every year takes place in consequential order, sign to sign, season to season. And the zodiac signs of the Sun and Moon in each and every full Moon of any given year are always opposite each other. Thus, at the time of this week’s Gemini-Sagittarius full Moon, which takes place on June 2nd @ 10:18 am MDT, the Sun will be at 11°49’ Gemini and the Moon will be at 11°49’ Sagittarius.
And so, what does that mean? It means that this full Moon energetically connects the Gemini-Sagittarius polarity, polar opposites of the mind and mental plane. Gemini is the inquisitive, curious gatherer and communicator of information and ideas. Sagittarius is the adventurous explorer and seeker of truth and meaning, the teacher, professor, guru and avatar. Gemini is the child, Sagittarius is the sage. Gemini is the student, Sagittarius is the ascended master.
At the time of the Gemini-Sagittarius full Moon, we are called upon to use our mind and spirit in a process of mental and spiritual awakening. What are we thinking? What are we doing in relation to what we are thinking? Who and what do we listen to? How have we been programmed? Who does the programming? What are the tapes running our internal dialogs? Are they repeating? How do thoughts create emotional, spiritual, psychological reactions? Are we creating suffering for ourselves and others with our thoughts and words or are we speaking with kindness and compassion, easing pain and healing wounds? And for all of us: How much time do I spend in quiet reflection, peace and quiet, where I can get in touch with my inner self [Gemini], and my higher self [Sagittarius]? What is spirit?
And don’t forget, both Gemini and Sagittarius love to have fun, play, joke and jive. Entertainment is a Gemini passion. So are books, communication, information and education. Sagittarius lives to go beyond the distant horizon, explore foreign territory and take the high road whenever possible. It's all about the quest. Gemini is air and Sag is fire, and we know what happens when those two elements get together. It’s hot! Enjoy the moonlight, explore your neighborhood and don't let your fire burn out of control. Good luck!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) A wildly enthusiastic full Moon in Gemini-Sagittarius comes to fruition this week, illuminating the paradox between more information and less knowledge. The 21st Century human brain is super-busy with overloads of data and stimuli. The challenge today is in finding quiet, peaceful places and spaces where we can reconnect to the higher self. Consider the consequences of insanity and find your space.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) How do we step off the information treadmill, still internal dialogs and discover the essential goodness and grace lying within? Quiet places and beautiful natural environments assist us in awakening the spiritual phenomena of inner peace. Are you living in too much chaos or confusion? This week’s full Moon highlights where and how you have become too busy and lost touch. Breathe, identify and amend.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) More information and less knowledge, more timesaving devices and less time. These are byproducts of the current Information [Aquarian] Age, the prophesized harbinger of knowledge and enlightenment. Meanwhile scientists work to transition the planet to the next geologic epoch – from the end of the last Ice Age [Holocene] into the Age of Man [Anthropocene]. Refrain from multi-tasking and just focus on what you’re doing.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) You may feel as if you are going in circles in the attempt to complete projects started or currently in the works. Rather than get upset and frustrated, why not choose to just accept it as being exactly as it should be in this moment? A numinous Neptune T-square to the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury and Saturn mandates the use of intuition and non-linear thinking. No problem, it’s your forte. Breathe deep, feel, deal and heal.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) A heavy dose of Gemini energy inspires thought, encourages communication and stimulates movement. Make contact with friends, catch up and share time with people you enjoy. With Mercury retrograde, a Gemini-Sag full Moon and a poignant Neptune square to a pack of planets, don’t flip out if you find yourself stuck. You’re exactly where you need to be. It’s here you will find what you’ve been looking for.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) Issues of communication come to a head as the Moon grows full. Good news is that you are more than willing to share your thoughts and ideas, bad news is that you don’t know if you can keep the emotional coloring out of the delivery. Challenge, rising to the occasion and facing the facts is both therapeutic and practical. After all, it is simply business, backed by responsibility. Take it one day and one thing at a time.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) Research shows that when we’re multitasking, we actually take much longer to accomplish things, make more mistakes and increase our stress. Libras love peace, beauty, harmony and equanimity. Why not drop the illusion of getting it all done in the shortest, most efficient time possible and focus on quality? And with so much Gemini energy in the wind, it's a great time to pick out a good spirit-book and read. Yeah, slow down.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) Full Moons bring light to darkness, illuminating shadows of two opposite areas of our lives. Gemini seeks to gather and share information; Sagittarius aims to discover truth and meaning. Today we have gazillion bytes of data flying through space, cyber and otherwise. Yet, do we have more knowledge? Are we enlightened or exhausted by it all? Find your quiet space, tap into the void and re-center your center.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) In an age of acceleration, nothing can be more exhilarating than slowing down. For faster action, stop the hurry. Focus on what is right in front of you, one thing and one day at a time. The busier you are, the more you need quiet, meditative soul time. The Archer is no different. Find the space-time to simply sit and breathe, feel your center. It is here, in the peaceful present moment, you will find power to change what you can change.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) How much life-time have you spent in quiet contemplation, soul reflection or deep meditation? Capricorn naturally finds comfort in the tangible, physical, material world. The world of spirit, not so much. And yet, you understand the value, payoffs and benefits of spiritual programs and a daily spiritual practice. This week’s full Moon shines light on busy-ness and calls you to escape via peace and quiet. Go for it!
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) A bounty of Gemini energy, including the June 2nd Gemini-Sag full Moon, may have you acting like a very excitable girl or boy, seeking entertainment and looking for fun. But with all the retrogrades and mutability, you may find yourself all dressed up with nowhere to go or there with no one there. Solutions come via a slower, calmer pace and less agitated approach. Go with the flow, refrain from upset and enjoy what comes – or doesn’t!
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) This week’s Gemini-Sagittarius full Moon hits you front and center, heart and soul. A mutable T-square involving Neptune, Saturn, the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Mars shine illuminating light on the foundational structures of your life. Parents, children, home, family, achievements, career, social relationships and significant others dance in a retro-movie where you are the star. Watch the film. Enjoy the show. Play your part.
