Summer Solstice and the Mayan End Times: Evolutionary Change
It's suddenly the season of busy-ness. The mutable Gemini air blowing through our heads and hearts has us thinking, talking, moving and grooving. I notice many, many motorcycles on the highways, more kids and people in the public pools, traffic jams and road construction on my way back and forth to wherever I'm coming or going. The days are hot; fires burn out of control in beetle-kill forests, parched earth turns to dust and the most recent news tells me that snow pack for the season in southwest Colorado is 0% of normal. Zero percent?
Things to do, things to ponder, things to wonder about. Summer solstice is rapidly approaching [June 20th @ 5:09 pm MDT]; this is the last official week of spring 2012. Collectively, as a species on planet Earth, we have reached a point of no return. We cannot go back to the naivete and ignorance of Neolithic man or the even more recent eras of humanity's historically documented, intellectually and artistically advanced pre-industrial societies. Here we are, with iPads and iPhones, hand-held devices that we can talk to - and they talk back - telling us what's available and how to get it. Robotics and virtual realities, hybrid foods and genetic engineering, part and parcel of life as we know and experience it today. Right now, in the present moment, living and breathing: Technology.
People often ask me about the Mayan End Times. Summer solstice marks the halfway point to the prophesized date of December 21, 2012 - when the winter solstice Sun lines up with the Galactic Center and the Mayan long count calendar [which is based on the 25,920 year precessional cycles of the equinoxes] comes to an end. Obviously, the collective consciousness has taken the hook on this one. Movies, jokes and media in general promote and project doomsday images and dramatic, wild possibilities. The good/bad news is that we are already there. We are living and breathing - right now, right here - the Mayan End Times. The planet Earth is already in alignment with the Galactic Center. Any day now, a space ship could sail right through that big, black vortex and awaken us to the fact that we are not the only advanced intelligence in the Universe. Or it could be something far beyond our wildest imaginations. Things could definitely change. And let's face it, everything is already changing radically each and every day. In my view, the world "as we know it" or more accurately, "as we have known it" is ending, it has ended.
The Mother Earth, our great nurturer and provider, has been here for us as the greatest Mother a human could ask for. She has never thrown us out of our cradle, stopped providing us with the food and resources we need to survive and thrive. She remains ever-constant, loyal, dependable, loving and supportive. And yet, we have fished her oceans to depletion, killed her wildlife to extinction, ravaged her forests and polluted her rivers. We suck her blood like vampires to quench our thirst for oil and gas, mine her precious gems and minerals and drain her aquafers. We have lived as if there was no end to her great, unbridled wealth and generosity. This is now coming to an end.
On June 19th at 9:02 am MDT, the Sun and Moon come together in the conjunction aspect of a New Moon, and a fresh lunar cycle begins. This takes place at 28 43' Gemini - a celestial point exactly opposite the Galactic Center at 28 Sagittarius - and also conjunct the red giant star Betelguese in the constellation Orion the Hunter. This lunation occurs just 36 hours prior to summer solstice and a few days before the first [June 24] of seven exact squares of Uranus and Pluto; Saturn's station direct [June 25]; and Venus's ending retrograde cycle [June 27]. Translation: We are standing on the precipice of radical evolutionary change. What we do, say and feel resonates throughout our neighborhood, world and galaxy. You [we] are a powerful evolutionary force upon this planet and universe. Think good, do good, feel good, act good. And so it is...
Onward, Cosmic Traveler.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) Spring merges into summer with a fresh new Moon in Gemini. This heralds a major cycle of endings and beginnings for the Ram. The way you think, act and communicate has changed radically over the last year. Now you are ready to embrace the new you and live accordingly. Nurture a happy heart at home and in the world. Good brings more good.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) The world's heavy dose of Venus has awakened our personal and global values and value systems. With so much political, economic and social polarity, we must find some middle ground upon which to wage our campaigns, fight our battles and, ultimately, fulfill our needs. Cooperation and negotiation are big. Let the opponent win now and then.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) An important physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual cycle closes as you put the finishing touches on your year and step into a fresh frontier of personal awareness and growth. The actual and metaphorical process of pruning the bush continues as you realize that what once seemed so important is no longer so. Clean, discard and move forward.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) Another lunar cycle begins as springtime ends and your birthday month unfolds. Summer solstice 2012 is one of great, metamorphic potential and possibility, and Moonchildren are forever sensitive to seasonal shifts. Embrace the regenerative, productive power of the Mother Earth and live in harmony with her cycles. Nurture plants, animals and most of all you!
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) Summer solstice provides an energetic gateway for those willing to take a leap of faith, connect with angelic realms and let spirit guide the journey. Upcoming galactic conjunctions and planetary squares are forcing attention on what is good, bad and ugly. Awareness and review turn into action, practice and progress. Show up, suit up and move forward with courage.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) Venus retrograde in Gemini is drawing to a close as summer solstice initiates our most productive season. Planetary aspects and galactic positioning reverberate awareness of current climate and overall global changes. Body, mind and spirit; it's time to treat yourself and your Mother Earth with respect. Touch and nurture what feeds you. Be good.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) The Sun, Moon and Orion's bright star Betelgeuse come together in late Gemini and oppose the Galactic Center in a powerful celestial cycle prior to summer solstice. This heralds a major turning point in your annual metaphysical cycle of birth, growth, death and rebirth. Grab the moment and seize the day; its time to produce, create and manifest. Go forth!
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) Power and desire are forever motivators and stimulants for the Scorpion. This week, celestial forces align in a dance of cosmic synthesis and emergence. Tap into the universal flow and go with it. Ride the river of life, listen to the music and dance to the harmony of the spheres. You are a creator and powerful force of change. Begin with yourself and move outward.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) Orion the Hunter, a constellation observed for millennia, has been a point of celestial reference and alignment for pyramidal cultures and structures worldwide. Influential and potent forces are emanating from its great stars now, stimulating heart and head chakras around the globe. As a spiritual warrior and time traveler, embrace the cosmos and take the ride.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) Seasonal shifts deliver galactic messages that come via a daily spiritual practice that includes physical, emotional and psychological self-care and self-nurturing. This may sound like a large order to fill, but it's imperative to work toward its manifestation. Remember, it's all about progress, not perfection. One day and one step at a time, make it happen.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Super galactic emanations provide open gateways for those willing to buy the ticket and take the ride. Easier said than done for those who doubt the cosmos or refuse to accept the power of invisible forces. Today, you understand the magic of surrender and the balance of stop and go. Early to bed and early to rise; rest when you can and work when you need to.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Mutable forces surround the planet with shifting tides and waves of change as a late degree Gemini new Moon and the solar ingress of summer solstice pave the way to a season of personal creative force. Tap into your heart and feel the power of love. It's in and all around you, waiting to be used in the beautiful expression of life. Let it flow.

Visible Planets: Morning: Jupiter Evening: Mercury, Mars and Saturn
You, Me, the World. It's there for the Taking. Open Your Heart
The transit of Venus across the face of the Sun - our solar system's primal, central star - last Tuesday, June 5th, was a stellar planetary event, and one that will not repeat itself for another 105 years.
The next transit of Venus is not due to happen again until 2117, and because we are now living on the highly advanced technological cusp of the Pisces/Aquarian Age, we are privy to images, information and insights that in previous times were simply unavailable or inaccessible. Hail the Internet, with its cyberspace connection to outer space and inner space; scientists and theologians, spiritualists, occultists, atheists, metaphysicians and magicians.
The transit of Venus across the Sun was, and continues to be, a supernatural experience for me. Just like the day [May 20th] of the stunning annular solar eclipse; it was late afternoon and I was standing out in our yard, in direct line with our white-hot, brightly shining primary star, feeling the heat and basking in the glow. I donned my husband's welding helmet and looked right in the face of the Giver of Light, Father Sun, the One Who Holds Us All Together on Mother Earth in the Family of Mankind, Plants, Rocks and Animals. There in the upper right corner was a small dot; the planet Venus! Something cosmic happened to me right then and there. I don't know what it was, I can't really explain it. I felt connected to something larger and bigger, higher and sweeter, vast and phenomenal, far and near, beyond the beyond. I took off the helmet, closed my eyes and raised my hands to the sky. I took a deep breath and let it all come in, body and soul.
My heart opened and I felt a warm, burning sensation, as if I was cleansing my heart with the pure light of spirit, eternal sunlight, the energy of the Sun. And then, I felt Venus, the goddess of love and beauty, mixing her heart with my heart, shimmering with sweet, loving-kindness, courage and compassion. Embracing and comforting, peaceful and serene. I smiled and felt blessed. The grace of a moment, the grandeur of gratitude, the mystery of humility and the magic of simplicity.
You, me, the world. It's there for the taking. Open your heart. Peace, love and joy.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) Great gains come by looking at personal patterns of perceiving, thinking and communicating. How can you change the ways in which you react negatively to others, experience anger or feel hurt by what they do or say? Recognize the difference between whats yours and whats theirs as you embrace total responsibility for yourself and your life as it is today.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) Big buddy, generous giant, guardian spirit Jupiter moves through the last degrees of Taurus this week and waves goodbye to a year of personal growth and expanded consciousness. No need for sorrow. This past year is only the beginning of a fortuitous 12-year cycle; count your blessings, smile and be happy. Continue opening heart and mind, Explore the world.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) Love patterns, personal talents, resources and value systems in general come under heartfelt review as you take a poignant look at who you are today in the illuminating light of the past. People with whom you have partnered and shared your life return in the flesh or in spirit; communication is big now. Enjoy the review. Its all exactly as it should be.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) The Gemini sun-time is full of emotion and feeling for Moonchildren and this year is no different. You may actually be more sensitive or in touch with feelings than ever. Recognize the connection between thoughts and emotions and examine the difference between negative and positive thinking. Fear comes via speculation and hypothesis. Live in the holy present.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) Planetary activity in your solar 11th house of friendship and camaraderie shines light on those with whom you share inspiration, common interest and spiritual support. Connect with and surround yourself by people you admire and respect. Osmosis is real, its a process of becoming. Choose wisely and act consciously as you travel a path of heart and soul.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) The forward motion of Mars in Virgo interacts with the retrograde movement of Venus through Gemini in a mutable square dance of metamorphic change. These are days of great opportunity, growth and epiphany, embrace each and every one of them as you do your best and follow your heart. Recognize internal goodness and share it with the world.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) Hallelujah! A break in the clouds, shimmering sunlight and glittering rainbows. The wild roller coaster ride of the previous month comes to a halt as planetary vibrations calm the waters and clear the air. Perspectives have shifted and perceptions have changed. You can see the value in each and every twist and turn, highs and lows, ups and downs. Enjoy the view!
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) The Gemini zodiac month is forever a time of adjustment for the Scorpion. Relationships deepen as others invest and confide in you emotionally and spiritually. Great gains in intimacy, financial partnership and psycho-spirituality come via calm cooperation and sharing. Take your time, explore options and quietly work for the good of all concerned.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) A fertile, rich atmosphere of sharing ideas, communicating desires and attracting those with whom you can successfully interact and partner surrounds you now. Others want and are willing to engage and pair up in joint venture endeavors and experiences. Maintain inner and outer calm, focus on realistic equations and manage your life via attention and skill.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) Self-improvement physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual is where its at now. You are in a fortuitous position of great gain and growth regarding personal programs of self-betterment, especially when it comes to health body, mind and spirit. You understand the interplay and interconnectedness of all life on planet Earth. Do good, be good and its all good.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Wild and wooly are two words that do not scare or frighten excitement oriented, thrill-seeking Aquarians. Isnt that what makes life fun? Of course, there are limits to all shenanigans and entertainments. Today you understand the value of rest, relaxation and quality time with people you admire and respect. Take time to just be and enjoy simple pleasures. Yes!
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Challenges come in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes they are welcomed and sometimes not. Whatever the latest, acceptance and gratitude are golden keys to experiencing the beauty and grace of life. Home life is the best life now. Happiness comes via lifes most simple pleasures. Feel the sunshine, enjoy the rain. See the rainbows and know all is as it should be.

Visible Planets: Morning: Saturn Evening: Mars, Venus and Jupiter
"As above, so below...as within, so without." - Hermes Trismegistus.
With so much going on - heaven and earth - the cosmos rock n' roll. We are living in a symbiotic universe of interrelated interconnectedness, where what we do, think and say as human beings resonates, resounds and reverberates in a co-creative dance of visible and invisible electromagnetic evolutionary force.
And so it is, here we are. Taking our first baby steps into a new millennium. Experiencing the advent of the Mayan End Times. On the cusp of the Pisces/Aquarian Age, waving goodbye to the naive exploitation of our Mother Earth's natural resources. Facing an era of virtual and technologically synthetic reality, we play with cards of hope, action, intention, compassion, uncertainty and courage.
In New Orleans, I have learned much. I have witnessed a culture of conflicting emotion, a city filled with heart; living and dying, struggling to survive. I hear music on the streets; small boys with big trombones and shiny trumpets, in jeans and tattered T-shirts, playing in vacant lots with wizened old men and strong, smiling young ones. The intoxicating beauty of the French Quarter seduces and intrigues me, and the food is divine. The House of Blues awakens my senses and serves up a mean French Dip. The Voodoo Bar, the painted porch, the fabulous artwork inscribed with compelling words. I'm in the heaven/earth place. It's wild and sad, full of sorrow, joy, lost dreams and ghostly beauty. If nothing else, deeply moving...
And now, for the astrology of it all. On June 4th at 5:12am MDT, a lunar eclipse bookends the magnificent annular solar eclipse of May 20th and reaches an engaging celestial crescendo. The following day, on June 5th, planet Venus makes a visible transit across our Sun, and much like the recent solar eclipse, can be viewed [with a welding helmet or the proper equipment] as a small black disc passing directly between the Sun and Earth.
This is one of the rarest of predictable astronomical events, as these transits occur in a pattern that repeats every 243 years, with pairs of transits eight years apart separated by long gaps of 121.5 years and 105.5 years. The companion transit to the June 5, 2012 transit took place on June 8, 2004. The previous pair of transits took place in December 1874 and December 1882. After 2012, the next transits of Venus will be in December 2117 and December 2125.
According to a guru I met this week, who claimed to have received a message from a Tibetan lama regarding the June 5th transit of Venus, this particular stellar phenomena presents us with the magnanimous opportunity to clear 4,000 years of karma. Wow! For more on the astronomy on this fabulously historical celestial event, check out the Internet. Wikipedia has a good general site via this link: Transit of Venus , and of course, there are many, many more...
Venus is the planet of love, peace, beauty and money, attraction and value. It is heart-centered, artistic and fabulously sensual, connected to the physical, material plane and yet living and breathing in a world of romantically charged emotion and experience. As Venus conjuncts and crosses the Sun - planet of essential being and pure spirit - we are gifted with a fortuitous chance to open our hearts and fill them with sunlight; pure, fiery solar rays of bountiful brilliance, burning bright, cleansing doubt and purging fear.
May the stars bless and keep you. And may magnetic, magical Venus be your guide to open-hearted love, happiness, health, wealth and - yes! - clean karma.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) Another important astrological week presents itself as the June 4th lunar eclipse bookends the powerful May 20th new Moon solar eclipse and brings to light all matters of thought, perception and communication. What do you think and what do you know? The golden key here is inner and outer truth. Above all else, honesty is your ally. True blue, be you!
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) This week's Gemini/Sagittarius lunar eclipse illuminates issues of security and stability, finance and romance. Love planet Venus - your planetary ruler - crosses the Sun on June 5th and pumps you up with all matters of personal worth and value. Once again, truth and honesty get you where you need to go. Temper the delivery with compassion.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) Everything and everyone coming and going throughout the last few weeks has great meaning and message for you now. The cosmos resonates with invisible, primordial forces and energies. 96% of our universe is imperceptible, even to our most sophisticated scientific instruments. What is consciousness? What is spirit? Self knowledge comes via inner peace.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) Answers to problems are often solved in the heart, rather than the head. And this week, heartfelt solutions are more appropriate and accurate than ever. As the Earth blocks solar rays to the Moon, tap into your deepest knowing and intuition. Wisdom comes in quiet, peaceful moments, places and spaces. Feel and heal. Love and live.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) Full Moons are all about illumination and expose. Eclipses are powerful electromagnetic events. Cosmic energies build and shift in a process of transformation and metamorphosis. A type of destablization and reconfiguration takes place. Epiphanies and feelings of rebirth are common. Connect with people who uplift and liberate soul and spirit. Live free.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) This week's lunar eclipse takes place in the Gemini/Sagittarius polarity, forming a dynamic square aspect to Virgo. This heralds an important turning point of great intensity and potential for the Virgin, a time when you are being given the opportunity to make sweeping, positive, uplifting choices and changes. Follow your heart, and to your own self be true.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) Spirit runs rampant in the realms of the invisible; guardian angels are everywhere. No problem for those who breathe in beauty and walk in grace, but rather challenging for those of us who stumble and fall. The key here is found in higher self knowing and living, opening our hearts and focusing on goodness. Seek the bigger picture, connect energetically with the cosmic heart and soul.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) A loaded deck on the opposite side of the Scorpio Sun-ship calls for extreme balance and grace this week. Maintain inner calm, focus on the positive and seek solutions rather than problems. Spiritual generosity and gratitude consciousness are huge. Consider how good you have it compared to the majority of people on this planet and give a big dose of love to the world.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) Wow! This eclipse week resonates with mega-doses of love, gratitude and bliss if you let it. No matter what the case or cause, be ready and willing to see and touch life's shimmering silver linings whenever those metaphorical clouds appear and thunder threatens rain. Life is filled with electric lightening and raging storms. Embrace it all and understand, it's all good.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) The almost exact square of freedom-loving Uranus in self-focused Aries to obsessive Pluto in social-conscious Capricorn involves you personally in a dance of should, could and would. Throw out the speculations and focus on the facts. Recognize the difference between thinking and feeling, truth and mistruth. Cultivate honesty in your relationships and be set free.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) A rather uplifting enthusiasm for life and all its games, gambles and mysteries envelopes you as the Earth eclipses the Moon and illuminates the spirit. Friends have always been a big part of your life, heart and psyche, but this week you experience a depth and understanding of just how important a true friend can be. Brothers and sisters in arms, forever.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Inner and outer magic takes place this week as the Moon grows full in your solar 10th house of social recognition and Venus crosses the Sun in your solar 4th house of home and heart. You are loved and cherished by many, embrace the goodness in and all around you. Self-nurturing and self-care are essential to health and wealth. Relax and enjoy life's simple pleasures.

Visible Planets: Morning: Saturn Evening: Mars, Venus and Jupiter
Ups and Downs, Sanity and Insanity, Chaos and Order
Last week was wild. The May 20th new Moon annular solar eclipse peaked in a power-packed package of delusion and delight. I was subterraneously stressed in getting ready for a two-week sojourn to Denver and then New Orleans - visiting family first and then flying to the Crescent City for an international astrology conference - subliminally ecstatic in that I would be getting away from daily chores and wifely duties to visit and stay with friends and loved ones; rushing around and losing track of time, juggling responsibilities with possibilities.
All day last Sunday - the eclipse day - I was feeling and absorbing waves of extreme energetic intensity, which had been building for days. Somehow, the combination of the Cinco de Mayo full Moon "supermoon" with the advent of Venus going retrograde in Gemini - which is my rising sign - and the approaching square of freedom-hungry Uranus in independent Aries to obsessive Pluto in control-compulsive Capricorn put me on a roller coaster of stop and go, up and down, sanity and insanity, chaos and order.
Now, smack-dab in the middle of 2012's first eclipse window - the companion lunar eclipse to the May 20th solar eclipse takes place on June 4th - I am feeling the ecstasy, unpredictability, surprise, pain, pleasure and enlightenment of life in all it's mysteriously rich twists and turns. Here in New Orleans - where there is plenty of everything - the graveyards are above ground, the Katrina disaster remains a strong presence, the French Quarter is as intriguing as ever and my very good from-high-school-friend Molly is as sweet, beautiful, kind, intelligent and compassionate as ever. Lucky me!
Love, peace and starlight; let us give from our hearts and live in the aura of goodness and grace. And please, help all those who need help. Amen.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) Millennium prophecies and Mayan end times aside, 2012 is packed with powerful potential for dramatic change. With wildcat Uranus in Aries tuning up to exactly square Pluto in controlling Capricorn, you may feel the restricting limitations of economic, legal, social and government systems upon your freedom. Hang in there, this too shall pass.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) Ruler Venus went retrograde in Gemini in mid-May and will remain so until Junes end. This translates as a time to re-assess personal values and relationships. Parental influences, childhood circumstances and social standards shape us. Education, religion and culture can override essential truths and desires. Tap into your heart and reawaken inner truth.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) The eclipse window opens wide and a Venusian breeze blows sweet memories of love and lust into your heart and head. A certain poignant longing for days of childhood innocence, idealistic hope and romantic fantasy encourage creative self-expression. Art, music and literature reconnect you to the past. Feel your heart, seize the day and live in the now.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) You may feel somewhat reticent and reclusive as ecliptic energy encourages peace, quiet and solitude in a very busy world. Prayer and meditation are allies as you balance private time with social commitments and responsibilities. Seek out spaces and places that calm and refresh body, mind and spirit. Dream, and then dream some more.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) After all, it's 2012. Transformational energies run rampant, whether we like it or not. There are so many things we cannot change, its wise to accept most of what makes us crazy and do the best we can to take care of ourselves. Blessed with spiritual courage and inherent strength-of-heart, you are a beacon of light in a raging storm. Stay happy, and help the world.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) The Gemini new Moon solar eclipse initiates an incredibly powerful segment of life regarding personal performance and achievement. The world sees you as capable, talented and attractive. Now it's your responsibility to feel the same. Remember, youre good enough, smart enough, and doggone it, people like you! Heal the world with your heart.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) You may find yourself reading, researching and reviewing spirituality in all its shapes and sizes. Reconnecting with higher-self being and doing is where it's at now. Have a party with your spirit guides, look for guardian angels and get in synch with the cosmos as the universe opens doors of enlightenment, expansion and opportunity.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) If you desire to enhance sexuality, deepen commitment or feel better about your most intimate relationships, now is the time. Be your sweetest self and focus on the positive aspects of sharing and pairing. If you're interested in psychotherapy, acupuncture or metaphysical practices, go ahead and research options. Heal via laughter and love.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) Last weeks solar eclipse in Gemini sent rays of light through the heart and soul. Family relationships, career goals, personal self and partnership desires ignite in a dance of enlightenment and illumination. Finding your place in the world is a theme and now it's time to get fully in touch with feelings and desires. Examine values and think about what really matters.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) Venus retrograde in Gemini combines with strong ecliptic energies this week along with the 2012 apocalyptic undertones of the collective consciousness and pulls you toward a practice of personal responsibility and self-improvement. Being happy and healthy is the best way to help yourself, others and the world. Pray and practice daily.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) You may feel somewhat explosive when it comes to passion and drama as Gemini spirit ignites the heart and fuels creative urges. Express yourself artistically, have fun and connect with what truly makes you happy. Reading, exploring, connecting and communicating with those you love is a fine way to get in synch with the universe. Smile and enjoy the joy.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) In the middle of a very powerful eclipse cycle, you may find yourself at home with your closest and dearest, enjoying the magnificent beauty of life here on planet Earth. Retracing steps of childhood and reliving poignant memories of how you got to here from there proves rich in understanding what means the most to you today. Nurture self and heal.

Visible Planets: Morning: Mercury Evening: Venus, Mars and Saturn
The Ecliptic Ring of Fire: Be Careful, Be Cautious and Watch Your Step!
On May 20th, the first annular eclipse in 18 years will be visible from the United States. Albuquerque, New Mexico is said to be the best urban location to view this "ultimate astronomical event." An annular eclipse occurs when the moon covers most of the sun's disk leaving a thin ring of light around the edge appearing as a "ring of fire."
And, yes, here we are in southwestern Colorado, on the edge of the eclipse path, wondering just how much we will be able to see. And since we're not too far from Albuquerque, we just might get lucky!
The Sun will be low on the horizon for the event: 1st contact (when the Moon begins to cover the Sun) takes place at 6:28 pm MDT. 2nd contact (when the Moon is completely within the disk of the Sun) is at 7:33 pm, and will last for 4 minutes and 26 seconds at optimum posts for viewing. 3rd contact is at 7:38 pm (when the Moon touches the edge of the disk of the Sun on its way out of the Suns disk). The Sun sets at 8:20 pm, before the eclipse is over, so it's possible we may see the entire event - a sunset to remember.
May's event is called an annular or "ring" eclipse because the Moon passes directly in front of the Sun but will cover only 88% of it. The undersize lunar disk results because the eclipse occurs just one day after the Moon reaches apogee, the most distant point in its orbit around Earth. So the black lunar silhouette will appear completely surrounded by the Sun's disk from a generously wide path that's at least 150 miles (240 km) across. Astronomers refer to this kind of incomplete lunar shadow as an antumbra.
Now all that is astronomy. What about the astrology of it?
As always, eclipses are paramount celestial events in Earth's annual cycle around the Sun. From four to six lunar (full Moons) and solar (new Moons) eclipses take place each year, and they occur in pairs. (A full Moon lunar eclipse follows a new Moon solar eclipse, or vice versa). As long as I have tracked eclipses, I have found that the events and energies within two weeks before and after each eclipse (what I refer to as the eclipse window) is a period packed full of feelings, synchronicities, omens and messages that resonate with the collective evolutionary intention and ultimate direction of humanity and all life on planet Earth at that particular point in time.
Deaths and births, shocking news, scandals, breakthroughs and epiphanies take place during these poignant, powerful days and weeks. Princess Diana and Mother Teresa both passed during the Virgo/Pisces eclipse cycle of 1997. Virgo and Pisces reverberate with service, humility, compassion and spirituality. Michael Jackson left us during the Cancer/Capricorn eclipse cycle of 2009. We looked at issues of family, parent, child, control, dependence and co-dependence. George H. Walker Bush announced the invasion of and first War in Iraq during the eclipse cycle of January 1991. Another Capricorn message regarding government, money, resources and power.
This eclipse cycle began a couple weeks ago, with the advent of the May 5th Scorpio/Taurus supermoon. A high point in the eclipse graph comes about on Sunday, May 20th with the annular solar eclipse at 01 degrees 21' Gemini. Two weeks later, on June 4th, a lunar eclipse bookends the cycle at 14 degrees 14' Gemini. The two weeks following the June 4th eclipse, we integrate the energies, events, epiphanies, etc. of what we have experienced. All I can say is; pay attention to what you do, say, hear and see, where you go and how you feel. Don't look directly at the Sun. Be careful, be cautious, and watch your step!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) An extraordinary annular solar eclipse takes place on May 20th as the Sun moves into mutable Gemini. This translates as an extremely powerful new, multi-dimensional beginning in almost every facet of your life. The way you think, talk, communicate and actually perceive reality has transformed. What once was, no longer is. Embrace the change and go with it.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) A rather long period of education and learning comes to an end. 18 years of exploring life via trial and error comes to a close. You can see the value of every stumble and ascent, understand the equation of action and consequence and embrace the power of personal choice. Once upon a time, you blamed others for distress and pain. No more. Now you know, it's up to you.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) Gemini symbolizes learning gained by the exploration of duality. As the first air sign, it represents the development of mental perception, intelligence and communication. This week, the Gemini solar eclipse aligns with the Pleiades star system, opening your heart and mind to cosmic consciousness via stellar transmission. Go with the flow and stay in the light.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) You may feel mysteriously adrift in the numinous waters of cosmic consciousness or lost in a dream world of divine light and stellar intelligence. Whatever the manifestation, relax and let it flow. Connect with people and friends who inspire and uplift you. As you move into a period of heightened creative sensitivity, protect your muses and take good care.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) Solar eclipses are extra-powerful new Moons, signaling major endings and beginnings. Take a look at where you were 18 years ago, in the spring of 1994. The completion of a cycle and a spiral to the next level is taking place. Pay attention to the signs and omens, especially the people and places that inspire you. Stick with the winners and do the next right thing.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) A grand new plan for your personal achievement and success is on the table. Take time to examine, assess and execute the terms via action. You know exactly what you need to do. Routine and practice are keys to making it work, one day at a time. Self-defeating, self-destructive patterns and behaviors are history. Its time to think, act and be positive. Yes!
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) A potent solar eclipse in fellow air-sign Gemini awakens higher-self being and living. Inter-galactic messages are emanating throughout the cosmos, adjust your antennae and tune the dial via quiet calm and inner peace. Spiritual practice is the best practice in these days and times. This includes daily walks, a healthy diet, meditation and prayer. Look, learn and listen.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) Soul and psyche rule this week as the Moon eclipses the Sun in your solar 8th house of deep sharing and pairing. This is an excellent time to start fresh in your most intimate and committed relationships. Cultivate rigorous self-honesty as you express feelings and communicate needs. Karma plays a powerful role here. Give to others what you want to receive.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) Take a stroll down memory lane and explore the places and remember the people in your life 18 years ago. Whoever and wherever you were then is now winking goodbye and encouraging you to glean the lessons, embrace the wisdom and start fresh in lifes precious journey of love and learning. Surround yourself with goodness and go forth.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) The Sun and Moon conjoin the Pleiades in a powerful solar eclipse this week, turning the page on another saros cycle that connects you with days and themes of 1994. Something significant from then is ending now. Take a deep breath, count your blessings and consider your commitment to spiritual rebirth and physical renewal. Its time for a daily practice.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) The sacred path of the warrior beckons to humanitarian Aquarians as the Moon conjoins the Sun in fellow air-sign Gemini. Armed with compassion, loving-kindness and an open and courageous heart, you do no wrong. Remain flexible in the face of adversity and focus on solutions rather than dwelling on what went wrong. Humility and gratitude are allies.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Today we associate intelligence with learning skill, verbal acuity and problem-solving, but there are many paths to acquiring and applying knowledge. This week, you are somewhat like a cell phone tower as ruler Neptune squares the solar eclipse. Cosmic and psychic information flows. Tap into intuition and heart-centered wisdom. Look, learn and listen.

An Electromagnetic Cinco de Mayo Supermoon Peaks Gravitational Pulls
Last week I felt as if I might be losing my mind. It was a case of over-commitment, coupled with the sudden addition of unexpected professional and domestic duties. My cell phone disappeared, my husband lost his seasonal labor force and we showed up a day late with a trailer load of trees for an auction in Grand Junction. Bottom line: I couldn't find time to write my column, do the laundry or even wash my hair! Sounds crazy, but come to find out, I wasn't the Lone Ranger. Several friends and associates reported similar feelings and experiences: lost keys, broken cell phones, mechanical breakdowns, disorientation, confusion, insomnia...
Of course, I knew the supermoon of May 5th was one of the most intense lunations of the year - physically seductive and psychologically evocative - and I was prepped for that. But, I had no clue I would be dancing on the borders of insanity, feeling as if I was floating on a surrealistic cloud of iridescent light and multi-faceted possibility, lost in a sea of altered consciousness and Castaneda-like reality. And, yes - all this - 100% clean and sober.
The Taurus/Scorpio full Moon is forever and always one that pulls heartstrings, tests boundaries and tempts desires. We are awakened to primal lust and our own inherent physical and sexual power. The birthing season of spring takes hold, plants take root, the world turns green. The sensuality of life on Earth blossoms and blooms. This takes place each and every year.
But, because the 2012 Taurus/Scorpio full Moon was also a supermoon - which is when the Earth, Moon and Sun are aligned in the celestial aspect of a new or full Moon, and the Moon is within 90% of its closest point to Earth (perigee) [and this one happened to be the closest one of the entire year] - it's no surprise that it was even more intense than usual. (There are four to six supermoons each year). Then add in Mercury - the planet ruling cell phones, keys, cars, trips, travel, transportation, thinking and communication - in an exact opposition to Saturn retrograde in Libra. That could explain the muddled thinking, missing cell phone, lost keys and wrong day for delivery. But, even that couldn't satisfy this astrologer. There had to be something more. Sunspots and solar flares? Yes, go ahead and add that in, too.
And, then, it came. Of course! The Taurus/Scorpio full Moon lunation took place on Cinco de Mayo - May 5th!!! - one of the four cross-quarter days in our yearly orbit around the Sun, one of the four halfway points between each solstice and equinox. (Cross quarter days occur when the Earth is at 15 Aquarius [Feb.5], 15 Taurus [May5], 15 Leo [Aug.7], 15 Scorpio [Nov.7] on the celestial equator). Voila! Planetary electromagnetism peaking, gravitational pulls at maximum intensity and a Taurus/Scorpio supermoon! No wonder. Now I can finally rest in peace!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) The recent super Moon illuminated issues of finance and romance, personal earning potential, value systems, deep sharing and intimacy. Utilize the information and experiences of this lunation to stabilize both income and relationships. Once again, it's up to you. Do your best.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) Ruler Venus stations retrograde this week and pulls you back in to a process of personally charged reassessment and revaluation. Goals, values and relationships come under review as you qualify quality and quantity, progress and priority. This is a fortuitous chance to reawaken essential truths and desires. Take your time and enjoy the process.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) Voluptuous Venus goes retrograde in Gemini this week and heralds a six-week period of personal review regarding love, money, people, possessions and priorities. What really matters? Are we making a living or making a life? How about enjoyment and creativity? Are we utilizing natural talents and gifts? Relax and let it flow as you assess and reassess.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) You may find yourself reaching out to friends and making contact with people you admire and aspire to be like. Explore the world of all possibilities as you think out of the box and travel the space-time of expanding potential and visionary dreams. Venus retrograde in your solar 12th house of fantasy encourages art, imagination and creativity. Imagine.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) Professional activities and responsibilities lessen as you temper career demands with personal pleasures and enjoyable pastimes. Love planet Venus soon retrograde in you solar 11th house of inspirational causes pulls you back to people and projects that feed the soul and fuel the heart. Open communication pathways and make contact. Give and receive.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) The prolonged presence of Mars in Virgo has taken you up and down, around and about the roads and rooms of personal choice and consequence. Consider whether or not you have been or continue to be too hard on yourself and/or others in the process. Relationships may feel illusionary or somehow painful. Cultivate inner peace and outer calm.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) Ruling planet Venus goes retrograde this week in Gemini and blows the skirt up in relationships of spirit, religion and philosophy. It's mostly about belief systems and whether or not they are real: true or false? So much death and destruction in the name of God, it's hard to take. Peace, balance and equanimity are what you seek. Keep looking, doing and seeking.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) Relationships loom large on the proverbial horizon as super-Moons and Venus stations focus attention on who and what is most important to you. Take a deep breath and exhale. Do it again. You are experiencing a powerful, ongoing metamorphosis regarding what you think, what you say and how you perceive reality. As you transform, so does the world.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) You may discover a pleasant return of someone or something you were once in love with as velvet Venus stations retrograde in your solar 7th house of relationships. Whatever the manifestation, the next six weeks are packed with many auspicious opportunities for making amends, calming the waters and healing the heart. Open to happiness and enjoy the joy.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) You may feel slightly out-of-synch in love and romance or not up to your normal speed in matters of money and finance as vixen Venus goes retrograde in your solar 6th house of self-esteem and self-improvement. The good news is that the next six weeks are perfect for making yourself more beautiful, loveable and attractive to others. Smile, laugh and be sweet.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) The rather light-hearted approach to love and money, romance and finance continues as voluptuous Venus stations retrograde in your solar 5th house of the heart. Traveling through fellow air-sign Gemini, you are sure to revisit the nostalgic days of youth and reawaken the cherished desires that set you on the road of self-discovery. Feel the love, follow the path.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Taurus loves steady progress and calm perseverance. Pisces understands the value of adaptation and flexibility. Both signs are dancing with delightful Venus moving backward in Gemini. This translates as an upcoming six-week period of self-beautification and self-healing. Keep your hands busy and your heart happy; create both beauty and art.

Taurus/Scorpio: Sexy, Fertile and Seductive
This week we witness and experience the fruition of the Taurus/Scorpio full Moon - frequently classified as the sexiest, most fertile and seductive lunation of the year. Spring has sprung, the primal thrust of Aries has pushed us forward, propelled us into the verdant pastures of calm and peaceful Taurus, zodiac month of warming soil, greening grass and blooming flowers.
Here on Wright's Mesa, the lilacs are in bloom. Lime-green aspen flutter in the breeze as the first soft, sage-colored buds of blue spruce pop up, out of their hardened branches. I checked the bluebird boxes the other day and found them all filled with pale blue eggs nestled in their well-built, tidy nests. Baby lambs and calves frolic in the morning sunshine, while days grow longer.
A fertile, fecundity permeates the air, earth and ethers. Were on the front side of a warming trend and I love it. Drink it in, bask in the fertility, plant the seeds and till the soil. Touch the ones you love and kiss the ground you walk on. And, most of all, dont forget to smell the lilacs. Mmmmm...
The Full Moon comes to fruition on May 5th - Cinco de Mayo! - at 9:35 pm @ 16 01' Taurus/Scorpio. Enjoy the sensations and the season! Kisses, hugs and smiles...
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) The Scorpio/Taurus full Moon is the sexiest and most seductive lunation of the year. Pay attention to internal dialogs and correct the incorrect.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) Intensified electro-magnetic fields illuminate feelings, hopes and dreams as the Moon grows full. Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) This is one of two yearly must-pay-attention-to lunations for the Scorpion. What are you doing, how are you feeling and who and what is most important in your life today? Values and priorities, what you cherish and what you must transform are imperative themes. All is as it should be at this moment, focus attention and go forth with positive change.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) The full Moon lunation in Taurus/Scorpio calls for an assessment of values and relationships. How about honesty and trust? Money and possessions, responsibility and freedom? What and who really matters to you? Hiding out or simply taking a break from the social whirl calms the spirit and heals the soul. Too much work and busy-ness takes its toll.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) Personal creativity continues to shimmer and shine as moonlight illuminates artistic talents and expressions. Pooling resources and working with others who share the same goals and objectives guarantees success. Communicate needs and expectations, delineate responsibilities and maintain momentum.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Information, learning and communication are themes this week. You may have to balance the student and teacher as you read, research, express and educate both yourself and others. Cottage industries, home businesses and neighborhood commerce are favored. Think globally and act locally as you invent, create, manifest and materialize creative ideas.

New Life and the Fertile tierra of the Mother Earth
It's off-season in Telluride and that means a long-needed and well-deserved break for everyone in San Miguel, Montrose and Ouray Counties. Let's face it, whether it's actual employment or Reagan's infamous trickle-down economic paradigm, we who live here depend on or are affected by what goes on in that magnificently beautiful valley. When off-season rolls around, things slow down. We can relax and breathe a little deeper, sleep a little longer; indulge in a quieter, more peaceful way of life and living. Whether it's a vacation away from home or simply a vacation away from work and stress, it's a time to embrace those simple pleasures we so often ignore or don't feel we have time for. Clean fresh air, longer walks, increasing light, new life pushing leaves up and roots down in to the fertile tierra of the Mother Earth. Once again, ahhhhh, Taurus.
Here in southwestern Colorado we are facing serious drought conditions 27% of normal and an extremely warm spring. Snow on the peaks is melting super-fast and it looks like the run-off will be at least a month early. I'm busy with tomato, basil and ornamental flower starts in window boxes; raking leaves, preparing soil and putting pots together in our greenhouse.
I watch baby lambs and calves in greening pastures, budding aspen, oak and spruce, puffy white clouds and the most brilliant display of Venus in twilight that I have ever seen. Dazzling and downright breathtaking, this stellar goddess of love and sweet seduction seduces me each evening with her magnetic, magical light and enigmatic celestial power.
Venus rules Taurus and here we are; living, breathing, relaxing...and it's off-season!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) Anger is not your ally and getting mad because things don't go your way is a dangerous waste of time and energy, actually preventing you from getting what you want. This is an important time to practice programs of self-improvement and cultivate humility, especially regarding people in positions of authority, laws, rules and legal systems. Simply do your best.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) You may feel flirtatious and in good humor as romantic Venus moves through your solar 2nd house of personal charm and talent. Express personal creativity via the written or spoken word, share ideas and visit people and places you find attractive. The ongoing process of personal self-improvement continues as you do the work and get the job done.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) Family conditions and relations continue as a major theme, but the tide has turned for the better. Mars now direct in your solar 4th house of domestic concern shifts the focus from what you cannot do to what you can. A more positive, pro-active energy regarding parents, caretaking and nurturing takes hold. Meanwhile, you are beautiful and sweet. Nice!
Cancer (June 21-July 22) With the Sun in your solar 11th house of collective inspiration and Venus in your solar 12th house of dreaming and dream-states, you may experience a sense of other-worldliness, idealistic vision or artistic fantasy. Creative visualization, meditation and quiet, peaceful environments are favored. Surround yourself with beauty and relax.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) The Taurus zodiac month illuminates issues of professional ambition and success. And with good luck planet Jupiter also moving through the achievement sector of your solar chart, you may be collecting accolades or getting recognition for a job well done. In any case, it's an excellent time to expand and explore career options. What you conceive, you can achieve.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) Ride the wave and go with the motivational power of Mars now moving forward in your sign. This translates as a time of increasing self-confidence, positive action and personal productivity. Good results come by way of beneficial character and behavior. Focus on progress, remain optimistic and know this is a time of great potential growth and success.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) The symbiotic relationship between Venus-ruled Taurus and Libra makes this time of year one of potential inner peace, tranquility and grace. The earth's natural beauty and regenerative power nurtures and heals, comforts and encourages growth - physically, emotionally and spiritually. Take advantage of this special window. Touch the soil, embrace the love.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) The earth is always there for us - it doesn't throw us off or away. From dust to dust, we are born and die upon this magnificent, beautiful planet. A true Mother and nurturer, we must honor the gifts we are given by the miracle of our birth here. Drink in the sunshine, embrace the rain, touch the soil, smell the roses. Feel nature's power and let it heal you.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) Dealing with career choices and professional responsibilities is par for the course this week and zodiac month. Focus on facts, assess situations, identify resources and balance equations. You are totally immersed in and transforming the way you earn a living, utilize personal talents and provide security for yourself and others. Harmonize values with actions.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) The ongoing process of career evaluation continues as Saturn remains retrograde in your solar 10th house of professional achievement and success. Cultivate patience when it comes to work-related concerns. If you feel over-burdened or unhappy here, simply focus on doing your best. Prepare for a professional change this summer. For now, simply learn.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Vixen Venus in Gemini uplifts your spirits and entertains your heart with whimsical fun and creative ideas. Get out and explore the neighborhood, take short trips to exciting places and let go of worry - it never solves anything! Look around and identify what's right in your life and relationships. It's time to feel good. Happiness is an inside job - make the choice.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Home life is the best life now. Busy with the yard and garden, touching the earth, planting and planning are favored activities and pastimes. Brothers and sisters, neighbors and friends, projects and parties remind you of your roots. Tap into childhood memories and connect with the sweet innocence of youth. Feel the goodness and know you are blessed.

The Peace, Beauty and Fertility of the Taurus Lunar Month
Taurus teaches us that there are two ways to be rich: One is to have what you want and the other is to want what you have. - Stephanie Austin
Ahhhh, Taurus - life's most simple pleasures. Shimmering sunshine after a drenching rain, bright-red Indian paintbrush, delicate lilacs and yellow daisies in the peaceful quiet of a pinion-juniper forest; greening grass, baby lambs and frolicking calves; cerulean bluebirds building nests and great blue herons sailing gracefully across the deep-blue Colorado sky. Creature comforts: good food and drink - sparkling water, Mexican coffee with organic half and half, the delightful taste of home-cooked spinach lasagna and a fresh Caesar salad, dark chocolate mousse and sweet, ripe blackberries and a beautiful, happy, humble home - a comfy leather couch, a 55" HD flat-screen TV - the Rockies win! - surround-sound and an embracing Thermapedic bed at day's end. A good night's rest. Soothing hot springs, magnificent mountains, a refreshing morning walk...
The primal thrust of Aries the Ram pushes life forward, insists on rebirth and resurrection, reminds us that we are here to live, thrive and survive. Courageous and strong, the first zodiac month (Mar.20-Apr.20) of the natural year, Aries impels motion and fuels action. Ruled by planet Mars, the ancient god of war and men, we - as individuals - attune to instinct, prepare for battle, rekindle desire and refresh ourselves to the concepts of personal will, self-identity and ego. Then, along comes Taurus the Bull.
Calm and placid, steadfast, patient and persevering, the Taurean archetype lives and breathes in the physical, material plane - the world of the senses - where we feel, smell and touch, see, taste and hear. The hurry-up impatience of Aries morphs into a slower pace and longer race, a place of persistence and realistic assessment, where we come to understand that wild, unbridled, exciting, spontaneous, impulsive, non-premeditated Aries-like actions have consequences. Life is not just a game of chance and luck, but also one of calculated risk and reward.
It is in Taurus that we are charged with developing a healthy relationship to our bodies, our physical resources and our beautiful, home planet Earth. We learn about matter, and what matters. We discover that true security and success is not just measured by money and material wealth, but by happiness, good health, kinship and meaningful work. Live the life you love and love the life you live. Its quality, not quantity.
On April 19th @ 10:12 am MDT the Sun moves in to Taurus and the solar zodiac month of the Bull begins. On Apr. 21st @ 1:20 a.m. MDT, the Sun and Moon conjoin @ 01 35' Taurus in the celestial aspect of a fresh New Moon. Happy, happy and may your solar and lunar months be filled with the peace, beauty and fertility of the calm and tranquil Bull. Blessings and grace...
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) The Taurus New Moon of April 21st initiates a lunar cycle of personal value and worth. Material security and financial realities are important factors in lifes equation of priorities; one must manage time, resources and money. That said; remember that true success is measured by the quality of one's happiness, good health, kinship and meaningful work.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) Your happy birthday month begins with a fresh new Moon and lunar cycle, so why not celebrate another revolution around the Sun with a bounty of moonbeams, sunshine and starlight? The Mother Earth encourages fresh starts and new beginnings; plant actual and metaphorical seeds in the fertile soil of her nurturing soul.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) With voluptuous Venus moving through Gemini, you may feel more amorous and attractive than usual. And why not? The world sees you as beautiful, talented and sweet, so the effect is automatic. Accept life's many gifts, smile and share the wealth of your great good fortune. A full and grateful heart has little room for fear, doubt and anger. Enjoy the joy.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) A bevy of planets in earthy Taurus calms the spirit and soothes the soul. The emerging greens of new life spring forth. Gather seeds, plan gardens and touch the soil. Friends and fellowships, support groups and social gatherings encourage camaraderie and fuel inspiration. Get out and about, dream new dreams and start fresh. Life is a journey to discover.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) You may feel the need to connect socially or professionally with others as the Sun and Moon conjoin in your solar 10th house of achievement and success. New beginnings and fresh starts are favored regarding individual hopes and dreams. Seek out and make contact with people who inspire and excite you. Explore creative talents and express heartfelt desires.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) Each year the Taurus lunar and solar months ask us to develop a healthy relationship to the physical plane, including our bodies, our resources and our beautiful home-planet Earth. For the Virgin, it's time to cultivate a practice of personal wellness. Addictions, compulsions and obsessions are maladies of the spirit. Treat them with spiritual medicine and be set free.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) Beautiful, sensual Venus rules both Taurus and Libra, making this zodiac month one of sympathetic, symbiotic resonance. The greening grass, baby lambs, frolicking calves and promise of luscious blossoms and languid summer cast magic spells upon your heart and soul. Identify what's right in your life, embrace the present and open it with joy.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) An elegant, delicate crescent Moon graces the twilight skies this week and shimmers rays of love and light upon the Scorpion. This lunar cycle and zodiac month requests your gracious presence in the magnificent dance of life. Show up for others and yourself with a happy, grateful heart and well-balanced psyche. Focus on the facts and stick with basic goodness.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) With the North Node and asteroid Juno conjunct in Sagittarius as the Moon is new, you may feel strongly pulled toward partnership and one-to-one relationship. Sharing the burdens and the wealth appeals to you now. Certainly, there is a lot to learn and glean from working and spending quality time with others. Choose individuals you respect and admire.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) Transformational planet Pluto went retrograde in Capricorn on April 10th and will remain so until mid-September. This heralds a prolonged period of exponential potential for metamorphic, deep inner work and ultimate self-empowerment. Face fears, purge demons and identify behavior patterns that create suffering for yourself and others. It's a process.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Focus this week and zodiac month is on the home and domestic environment as solar and lunar light illuminate the personal and familiar. Spring-cleaning, yard or garden work, physical exercise and emotional health are themes. Action is your ally and goodness is your guide. Examine facts, assess situations and balance equations. Be here now.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Taurus energy encourages time outside and in touch with nature. Earth Day celebrates and commemorates our relationship and dependence upon our beautiful, bountiful home planet - what a great prompt to get out and get ready to garden and grow! Visit a greenhouse, smell the roses.

Mars Rx: The Cosmic Phenomena of Planetary Retrogrades
I've been writing on and off about the rather muted energy of spring this year. Normally springtime runs rampant with primal passion and devilish desire. The emerging life force of the tropical zodiac's first sign and season impels us forward, encourages movement and metaphysically thrusts us out and about, into a world of fresh frontier and uncharted territory. Courageous, confident and cavalier, the archetypal Aries warrior charges into battle armed and ready, riding a fast horse, shimmering in the sun. It's a time of predator and prey, the hunter and the hunted, conquest and victory, rebirth and resurrection. Why then, have we not felt the bravery and bravado, the primitive, primeval push to pursue our passions, follow our most basic instincts and run wildly out of control?
Awaken to the cosmic phenomena of planetary retrogrades. Hard to believe, difficult to digest and downright silly when it comes to placing blame on a celestial body that isn't really moving backward, but just appears to be doing so as viewed from Earth, this particular astrological tradition is one that will forever mystify and intrigue me.
Many people have heard about or are familiar with the term "Mercury retrograde." They know or have experienced just enough about this recurring 3-week cycle to give it some recognition and/or credence. What most people don't realize is that all the planets, except the Sun and Moon - and Earth, of course, being the vantage point - experience recurring periods of apparent retrograde motion. And, this spring, Mercury, Mars and Saturn have all been retrograde, in tandem. Mars rules Aries, springtime and the primal force of life. It correlates with self and self-will, ego and identity, sex drive and sexual desire, motive and motivation, courage and confidence.
When Mars is retrograde all things ruled by this ancient god of man and war seem to revolve backward and we are forced to deal with our individual selves - personal behaviors, patterns and desires our performance records, how we got to here from there, how we may have hurt others or ourselves. Issues from the past return and persist until we face them head on, process and deal with them. It's somewhat like waging an internal war of good and bad, might and right, dark and light. Swords clash and lightening flashes. We are surging and purging; the battles are fought within.
On January 23rd Mars went retrograde at 23 Virgo. On April 14th Mars resumes forward motion at 04 Virgo. Hallelujah! Four long months of backward motion in the zodiac's most critical, analytical, self-deprecating sign will come to an end. The efforts toward self-improvement; the work, service and sacrifice, the humility - both voluntary and involuntary - and the rewards for the action and attention to clean, organize and prioritize our lives will emerge, like new life - clean, fresh and full of promise. Like the age-old, ancient warrior, the Indian chief, the young brave, the Crazy Horse of life - just like spring - we emerge victorious. We are reborn. With strength and courage, go forth!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) Aries planetary ruler Mars resumes forward motion this week, ending a four-month period of retrograde. This is big for the Ram. Take a good look at what you've done and where you've been during in this time. No doubt, your overall health body, mind and spirit - are themes in this review. You've learned lessons you needed to learn, now live them.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) Programs of self-improvement have been important to you over the last several months. Whether it's for you or someone else, you see the value in education, training and practice. The motivation to learn, clean up and organize has put you in the position to make great gains. Utilize the wisdom of humility as you recognize the power of personal choice.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) The characteristic quickened pace of spring has been dampened this year by the retrograde motion of the seasons planetary ruler, Mars. On Apr. 14th the ancient god of war resumes forward motion and the world changes. Take note of a subtle but major shift in the way you feel and how you react. Cultivate strength and go forth with renewed confidence.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) Mercury and Mars now moving direct wipes the mental slate clean and encourages fresh perspectives and new ideas. Harvest valuable information from the experiences and encounters that came your way over the last four months. These are precious gems and jewels, glittering metaphorical lessons to craft upon your crown. Wear it with honor.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) Planetary shifts encourage a more direct approach to life and love, friendship and fellowship. Seek out people of like mind and spirit, individuals willing to work with others via right action and common cause. Communicate, travel, explore and expand. Your energy is back on track and life is good. Seek and you shall find.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) Good news comes by way of Mars this week as you see the purpose of the practice and the message behind the madness. Once again, it's up to you to make the right choice and do the right thing. Personal responsibility is tremendously self-empowering and now that you know what it takes to be happy and healthy, what excuse do you have? Embrace the journey.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) A mysterious, metaphysical turn-around of soul and psyche takes place this week as Mars resumes forward motion in your solar 12th house of past and present life karma. Turbulent emotions, troubling dreams, anxiety, doubt and fear dissipate in the sunshine of spirit. A primal sense of confidence emerges and you are free. Breathe deep and go forth.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) The ongoing review of your life direction, friendships, hopes and dreams has been a huge part of the last several months. Whatever you've done and wherever you've traveled, know that everything has happened for good reason. Accepting life on life's terms, taking personal responsibility for your actions and relationships is the way to go. Follow a path of heart.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) We can always be stronger, no matter what. And recognizing just where and how is the magical key to unlocking those glittering doors of metaphorical gold. We become like the people, places and things that we surround ourselves by. Making positive, healthy choices in the dance of right and wrong keeps us on a path of happy destiny. Be good, enjoy the journey.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) Motivator Mars resumes forward motion in your solar 9th house of hope and inspiration this week, paving the way for philosophical breakthroughs and spiritual epiphanies. Look beyond the proverbial horizon as you explore new physical and metaphorical territory. Foreign cultures and travel accelerate this process. Seek and you shall find.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) A pleasantly plump romantic trend begins as voluptuous Venus enters your solar 5th house of creative inspiration this week. Be aware of and awakened to the flow of love in and all around you. Relax in the moment and seize the day, one day and moment at a time. Your life is a miracle and you are here for good purpose. Embrace the joy and share your heart.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Venus moves into Gemini and Mars goes direct in Virgo, both in mutable signs. This translates as a rather dynamic and potentially productive time regarding home, family and personal self. The most important people and relationships in your life are cued up to move in more positive, productive directions. Focus on what's good and feed it with positive thought and action.

The Aries/Libra "I am" & "We are" Good Friday Full Moon Light
Full Moons bring light to darkness, illuminating what we need to see, what may lie hidden and, at other times, is simply out of sight. The celestial opposition of the Sun and Moon and the location of the polarity point in the Tropical Zodiac at the time of the opposition provide clues and information necessary for understanding just what it is we are supposed to see. It's like a cosmic river, carrying us toward the energies and issues that are most beneficial and imperative to our ongoing awakening and enlightenment.
For many years now, I have been awed and inspired by the subtle, yet profound, seasonal messages and insights available at the time of each new and full Moon. And this week on Good Friday April 6th @ 1:19 p.m. MDT, the first lunar cycle of our natural tropical year comes to fruition @ 17 23' Aries/Libra, shining light on self and other, me and you, I and we, us and them.
Aries, the sign in which the Sun is transiting, symbolizes the individual "I am", while Libra, the sign in which the Moon is transiting, represents the paired together "we are" partnership, the place of joint collaboration and negotiation, where the individual joins force with another and works in harmony and with equanimity for a shared purpose, goal or desire. As astrological archetypes Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and initiates spring, a time of new beginnings and fresh starts, when life is reborn and attempting survival. Libra is the 7th sign of the zodiac and takes place at the time of harvest, when the seeds of Aries have been nurtured and have blossomed, ripened and born fruit. Life is full and rich.
As opposite signs Aries and Libra are mirrors of development, two halves of a shimmering whole. They are not mutually exclusive, but interdependent, each one seeking out and needing the other. The courageous, impetuous Aries warrior seeks out the strategy of the calm, peaceful Libra enchantress in a dance of balance and grace, will and sweet surrender, in which each contributes to and cooperates with the other, sharing the burdens, battles, responsibilities, joys and sorrows, victories and defeats equally - come what may. It's a natural, eternal attraction, an idealistic fairy tale of evolution and resolution.
And so, here we are. It's Easter weekend; the Sun will rise, the day will come, and night will follow. May your journey be holy and your chocolate be sweet. God bless and may the lunar Aries/Libra moonlight of courage, love and peace shine meaning and magic upon the "I's" and "we's" of your oh-so-precious life.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) Three planets changing direction within days of the April 6th Full Moon emphasizes the need to shift how you see and do things. Pluto retrograde in Capricorn exposes where its imperative to make fundamental changes in your economic, social and political beliefs and behaviors. This is an extremely powerful time when it comes to personal resurrection.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) Benevolent good luck planet Jupiter in mid-Taurus reaches a type of zenith as the Moon comes to fruition, illuminating what needs to be seen and what needs to change for the better. Embrace your many blessings, feel the joy of gratitude and take a deep look at how you got from there to here. Humility, truth and honesty are allies.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) Love planet Venus has recently moved into Gemini and, due to a long period of retrograde this summer, will remain there until Aug. 8, 2012. This heralds an important phase of self-enhancement and self-betterment as well as a time of personal re-evaluation and attunement. Nurture body, mind and spirit in a dance of creativity, beauty and art.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) The April 6th Good Friday Full Moon shines light on feelings and emotions, especially in relation to childhood memories and family relationships. Who you are in the world today may contrast sharply with where you came from. Examine parental modeling and social values as you balance courage with compassion and ambition with humility.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) The Aries/Libra full Moon asks us to move from duality to unity, step out of polarizing behaviors and view life from a more accepting, less rigid, self-righteous point of view. This can be difficult, especially when we're living by lessons learned in hard-won battles of morality and justice. Just for today, let go of fear and judgment, get off the high horse and smell the roses.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) Balancing the masculine with the feminine and the assertive with the passive is a challenge and exercise this week. It's important to stand up for what you value, but it is not appropriate to wield power over those who have difficulty standing up for themselves. Erase the old tapes of anger, doubt and resentment. Replace them with courage and confidence.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) This week's full Moon light illuminates issues of self vs. other, masculine vs. feminine, dark vs. light and good vs. bad. Rather than see it all as a battle of justice and right, accept it all as necessary. The shadow side of Aries is aggression, war and anarchy; the dark side of Libra is peace at any price. Balance, as always, is the key. Maintain inner calm and go forth.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) Take a second and third look at the people, places, situations and circumstances entering your life these days. Jupiter and Venus in the relationship sectors of your solar chart portend a time of great opportunity regarding the world outside your door. Explore, experience and discover. Treasures await those who journey. Seek and you shall find!
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) Asteroid Juno - ancient Roman goddess of marriage - conjunct the transiting north node in Sagittarius, mandates equality in male/female relationships and a balance of the archetypal masculine and feminine. While the cosmos favors the Archer's positive, pro-active approach to life now, remember that it's all relative. Cultivate respect and be fair.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) As powerful, demanding Pluto prepares for an extended period of retrograde in your sign, so also prepare for a time of courageous self-empowerment. Soul and psyche unite in a dance of metamorphic awakening as you travel through the mists of illusion to the pathways of transformation. Breathe deep, embrace the journey and follow the light.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) The Easter weekend and full Moon light shimmer rays of encouragement, hope and enlightenment upon those who walk their talk and follow their heart. As one who is here to proclaim truth, explore options and invent solutions, this portends a time when you must lead by example. Others may not hear what say but they can see the value in what you do. Just do it.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) With several planets and asteroids transiting Pisces as the Moon grows full, you may feel the fullness of life's many trials and tribulations, joys and jubilations. Qualify dreams and identify illusions as you dance with compassion and move with the groove. Balancing your internal masculine and feminine is a continual artistic process. Express the art.

Less Wild and Reckless? Blame it on the Stars!
Last week I wrote about retrograde planets and how, this year, spring - although it has definitely sprung - is feeling less wild, reckless and impatient than usual. The primal thrust of Aries is more cautious and curious, we are acting with forethought and concern; the cosmos favors patience and perseverance rather than impulse and instinct. This slower pace is soon set to change, however, as both mental Mercury and motivator Mars are both gearing up to go direct in April.
Planet Mercury went retrograde on March 12th @ 0649' Aries and goes direct on April 4th @ 2351' Pisces. Mercury rules thought and perception, communication, health, medicine, transportation and travel. Mars went retrograde on Jan. 23rd @ 2305' Virgo and goes direct on April 14th @ 0341' Virgo. Mars rules the self and ego, motive, desire and will. It's all about survival and what we do to get our needs met. It's what gets us up out of bed and moving forward in our day. Mars also rules the cardinal fires sign of Aries, AKA the Vernal Equinox and season of spring. Both Mercury (mind) and Mars (physical vitality) are personal planets and we feel them personally - body, mind and spirit.
The combination of these two planets retrograde - at the same time - translates as a period of mental self-reflection and review, possible clouded, troubled or confused thinking regarding one's self-image or sense of self, miscommunication or lack of desire to communicate, low energy, confidence and/or motivation, and a pervasive awareness that things just aren't working out on schedule or the way we want them to. It's as if a rev-limiter has been put on the proverbial throttle and we just can't go as fast or as far as we might like; it's a re-evaluation and reduction of both passion and power.
So, if you're feeling a little slower out of the gate, less inspired to create, swimming in circles, under water or under the weather - you can do as I do - blame it on the stars. And, remember, like all cycles and seasons, this too shall pass!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) As birthdays continue, you may find yourself returning to programs of service and self-improvement. Mars retrograde in your solar 6th house of mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health favors personal inventories that identify behaviors that cause suffering for yourself and others, followed by forgiveness, acceptance and pro-active change.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) With love and money planet Venus sharing the romantic evening twilight with magnanimous, benevolent planet Jupiter in your sign, count your blessings and fill your heart with gratitude. This is the beginning of a fortuitous twelve-year cycle that promises great good fortune to those who practice honesty, cultivate goodness and simply do the next right thing.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) Guardian angels, benevolent spirits and seasonal divas infuse the season with grace and grandeur. Take some time out for quiet, high quality meditation and relaxation. Divinely inspired messages come to you via slumbering dream states and awakened synchronicity. Pay attention to the people in and circumstances of your life now. Feel gratitude and embrace grace.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) As the Moon waxes toward full, Moonchildren may feel the strong pull of social and professional obligations and responsibilities. Soul and psyche call out for achievement and recognition as you identify goals and work toward their manifestation. Great support can be found amongst friends and fellowships. Participate, share and work with others also on the path.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) Professional opportunities continue to entice and entertain you as sweet, good luck planets Venus and Jupiter dance together in your solar 10th house of career. You are moving through a cycle of expansion and exploration here, involved a process of redefinition and re-creation when it comes to work and achievement. Cultivate patience, and take your time.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) Motivator Mars retrograde in your sign continues to be the biggest astrological news for Virgos this month. Take note of all the people, issues and behavior patterns that have resurfaced and returned for you to review, reassess and revise. This is happening for good reason. You are being given the auspicious opportunity to finally get it right. Hallelujah!
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) The last week of Mercury retrograde encourages the final status review and reevaluation of your current life and relationships. The most empowering choice here is to accept total responsibility for the shape and condition of it all. By identifying your part in the creation and maintenance of these things, you are free. No more blame game congrats!
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) As March moves into April, spring springs with its characteristic push and pull, shift and shove. This year, however, several planets retrograde may retard or restrict both the motion and the mojo. The strategy: take your time, cultivate patience and when things dont work out the way youve planned, count your blessings. Everything happens for a reason.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 20) The Aries sun-time gifts you with an uncharacteristically slower pace and significantly longer race than usual when it comes to romantic relationships, creative projects and pleasure in general. Professional responsibilities and/or lack of them, recurring difficulties or conflicts with bosses or employees may be dampening the fun. Hang in there, the weather will change!
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) While your creative and romantic quotient may be healthy and high, you may find that somehow you are being prevented from reaping what you sow. Cultivate patience and take a good look at how you arrived to where you are today. Perhaps its time to make amends, reassess performance and accept responsibility for your part in what went wrong. Its cool.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Weather, wind and natural, seasonal conditions may hold you back or keep you from doing the things you think you need to do now. Relax and regroup, theres no point in fighting Mother Nature. Rather than stew and stress, work on inside projects or those that require mental rather than physical effort. Put your mind and ingenuity to test and succeed with flying colors!
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Mental Mercury retrograde in the late degrees of Pisces may cast a mysterious shadow on your thoughts, communications and ideas. You may find yourself reviewing childhood behavior patterns and haunts via virtual or actual means and methods. Examine the past, but dont get stuck there. Learn from experience, but embrace the vibrant, living present.

Visible Planets: Morning: Mars and Saturn Evening: Venus and Jupiter
The Lure of Conquest & Eternal Battle of Cosmic vs. Personal Will
The Aries new Moon of March 22nd initiates the first lunar cycle of the natural zodiac year. Following quickly on the heels of the 2012 Vernal Equinox which took place on March 19th at 11:14 p.m. MDT - when the Sun crossed the equator on its journey north, this lunation marks the beginning of the Northern Hemispheres annual planting and growing season. Days grow longer and solar rays become more direct. Snows melt and grasses morph from blonde to green. The first fragile flowers of spring pop up and out of the warming earth, surprising us with color. Restless winds whip and roar with ferocity one day and are gentle, embracing and playful the next. We experience the process of daily change in body, mind and spirit. As the earth transforms, we do also. The actual and metaphorical territory in which we live, breathe and thrive is being reborn.
Often springtime gives birth to strong desires and a wild, reckless will. The Aries archetype is characterized by the primal urge to create and pro-create, go forth and take action. More comfortable in motion than at rest, its impulsive and/or compulsive thrust often throws caution to the wind in the hot, fiery pursuit of passion or prey. The lure of conquest, thrill of the hunt and enticing promise of victory propels Aries forward. Armed with the weapons of courage, strength and confidence, the Aries warrior is no stranger to battle. After all, the red-planet Mars ancient god of war and men rules this brave and forthright sign. In our own charts and psyche, Mars and Aries represent ones sense of self and self-identity, the ego and self will. Its the part of us that knows exactly what we want and is willing to do whatever it takes to get it.
This year, however, the traditionally raucous Aries energy manifested in the solar and lunar cycles of this rather rugged, ribald birthing season are slightly dampened by the retrograde motion of several planets - including and most poignant - ruler Mars - as it tracks back through earth-centered, analytical Virgo. Also retrograde are mental Mercury in Aries, powerful Pluto in Capricorn and heavyweight Saturn in Aries opposite sign, Libra. So, dont be surprised if youre feeling held back or down, reluctant to take risks, confused or uncertain, funky or downright depressed. Its par for the course and indicates that were better off living in the moment with patience and virtue, biding our time and doing our homework, waiting for the right time, place and position the time when we feel confident, capable and competent. When the mud has settled and the water is clear. We will know in our hearts when it's time to go forth. Good luck and may the powers of the ancient and living Buddhist bodhisattvas and Toltec spiritual warriors be and go with you.
This week the Sun rises and sets almost exactly east and west. Observe its position as it crowns the day with glorious light and kisses the evening with turquoise twilight. The delicate, graceful crescent of the March new Moon hangs sweetly above the western horizon at dusk, dancing with stellar evening stars Venus and Jupiter. Its a magnificent and beautiful sight to behold. Behold...
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) The March 22nd Aries New Moon calls for a giant stride forward in the release of old programming in favor of new awakening and awareness. What worked at one time, no longer does. You have moved beyond the familiar and comfortable to lands of fresh frontier and opportunity. Cultivate courage and practice patience; face fears and go forth in truth.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) You may feel as if youre traveling through familiar territory or experience flashes of dj vu as planets gather in your solar 12th house of past and current life memory. Mystical energies surround you as thoughts and images emerge from deep wells of the subconscious. Cultivate inner peace and treat yourself kindly. Compassion and forgiveness are allies.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) You may feel restless, irritable and even discontent as springtime wrestles with winter in a battle of wind and will. Get out and about especially on nice days - when solar rays bathe you in warmth and light. The Aries sun-time and fresh lunar cycle favor progressive gatherings of like mind and spirit. Connect with friends, rekindle dreams and explore options.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) New Moons encourage fresh starts and new beginnings, as does spring and the Aries sun-time. But with Mercury, Mars and Saturn retrograde, you may find that many of your best efforts seem thwarted or destined to fail. Whatever the manifestation, dont give up on your dreams. Its simply the universe testing your resolve and refining your goals. Relax.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) Spring is a time of optimistic thinking and idealistic vision for the Lion. Often you find yourself planning trips to exciting places or actually en route. This year, however, you may feel a mysterious lack of enthusiasm or uncharacteristic negative attitude when it comes to travel. No worries, its temporary. Keep your eyes on the skies and your heart on the road.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) Return, relax, recuperate, review, revive and resurrect. Mars continues its retrograde journey through Virgo, reminding you where youve been and how you got there. Old habits and behaviors, unfinished projects and relationships may revisit you in body, mind or spirit. This is an amazing, powerful time for course correction and positive change. Its up to you.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) With Saturn moving retrograde through the final degrees of Libra, you may feel as if a mysterious, cosmic force has oddly grounded you in the hard-core reality of whats wrong with life rather than whats right. Struggle is a part of the human experience here on earth, but with awareness, we can see how we create our own suffering. Change what you can.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) These days and times are rife with corruption, abuse and misuse. Power is either an enemy or an ally, depending upon the consciousness of its owner. Scorpio karma is learning the correct use of will and power. No matter what, you cannot escape it. Can you relate? Today you are blessed with an inner reservoir of basic goodness. Tap into it, feel and heal.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) As winds roar and temperatures rise, you may feel the stirrings of soul and spirit. Spring is a time of creative impulse and passion for the Archer, when desires fuel inner fires of lust and love. And yet, with several planets retrograde, you may feel lost, lonely or lacking in romantic rock n roll. Breathe deep, cultivate faith. Enjoy life. The rest will come.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) Its crunch time for Capricorns as the deep, transformational power of Pluto in your sign moves ever closer to its square with radical Uranus in self-willed Aries. And with the retrograde veil of planetary influence in orb, you may question the pace of the worlds economic, social and spiritual recovery. Focus on your own recovery and lead by example.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) The restless wind and recurring storms may prevent you from doing exactly what you want, but remember, our best-laid plans are often thrown astray. Wise men accept what comes and make the best of it. There is always something to do that synchronizes with the season and harmonizes with the weather. Youre bright and brilliant; follow the light.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) You are fast-set upon following your heart and manifesting creative visions, but the world may be a little bit behind you when it comes to making dreams come true. Relationships, partners and important others may return to old behaviors and you find that you must rework old patterns and refrain from negative reactions. Stay positive and on course.

Words or No Words, Seasons Change & Spring is Spring
I've been writing the Alacazem astrology column now for 24 years. Sometimes it's hard to believe that I've come up with Sun-sign forecasts and intros for that long - week after week, year after year. Sometimes it flows, and sometimes it doesn't.
From its first publication in the 1988 Telluride Times weekly newspaper, with Scott Brown and Bob Beer, to Mike Ritchey's Telluride Today, to Tom Bonifietti and Rosemerry Wahtola [Trommer], Karen Metzer [Bellrose] and eventually Marta Tarbell at the Telluride Times Journal, back to Mike Ritchey and Tony Daranyi - who had by then purchased the Telluride Daily Planet - to Clint and Susan Viebrock's 'zazzy' Internet 24/7 state-of-the-art Telluride Inside & Out - where it's currently published - Alacazem has traveled from local paper to local paper, Telluride to Taos and back, up and down, all around. I established the Alacazem.com website in 2008, when I was notified by sweet editor Matt Beaudin at the Telluride Daily Planet that the new owner was no longer interested in carrying Alacazem. At the time, I had an email list comprised of people who had read the column in Telluride and moved away; clients, friends, family and others who lived elsewhere and had somehow run across it, tracked me down and requested to be included on the list. The Taos News was publishing Alacazem in their Tempo magazine each week, so I was still writing it. I took a look at my transits and then called Dana Gerhardt - one of my favorite astrologers - and decided to leap into cyberspace. So - voila! - my own website. Self-fueled security! I felt a responsibility to my readers.
Relationships, careers, columns, houses, towns, astrological charts; everything has a life of its own, a vibration, a karma, an energy, a destiny. There is plenty on this Earth and in this Galaxy upon which we have no control - and let's face it - it's almost everything and everywhere. However, we do have some control over ourselves - theoretically - in what we say, what we do, how we react. I have to find the time to write the words to manifest this column, to look at the stars and planets, to feel the vibes, to ask the cosmos for the permission to co-create. I have control of that. But, what happens when I sit down to write and nothing comes? What's up with that?
Today I'm happy and healthy, blessed and grateful to be where I am - words or no words. I know the snow is melting and that the season of spring arrives on March 19th at 11:15 p.m. MDT, when the Sun enters the cardinal fire sign of Aries and the natural zodiac year begins. I accept the fact that some days the words and vibrations come, and some days they don't. I can always tap into my heart and write from the soul. Things constantly change, like the weather, like the seasons. What is fantasy and hyperbole one day can be realistic and common the next. I also know that what one does feeds what one is, and I've heard it said that character is destiny. Here's to goodness and grace; good character and graceful destiny. Happy Spring Equinox! May your year be filled with wise words and loving ways. Spirits bless...
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) Your birthday month and year begin on the Vernal Equinox, when the Sun enters Aries, March 19th. This go-round, the Universe favors balance and patience, inner peace and outer calm. With revolutionary Uranus in Aires for several more years, destiny awards great good fortune to those who travel a path of consistent, constructive personal change. Happy trails!
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) Springtime is like a healing tonic to the Bull. As snows melt and the first fragile flowers of the newborn season pop up to greet the lengthening days, spirits soar. Its time to look at seeds, touch soil, plan gardens and start starts. There is something both holy and happy about the sunlight now; it feeds and nurtures body and soul. Embrace nature; seize the day.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) All things are lights and we often forget to acknowledge the primal power and importance of our central star, the Sun. Increasingly direct solar rays and lengthening days warm the soil and awaken the soul. Feel your body and follow your heart; look for signs and omens along the way. The Mother Earth is calling you to spirit. Embrace her message and go with it.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) The annual cardinal points are important turning points for Moonchildren. Springtime heralds a time of professional and social inventory, assessment and attention. What are you doing to manifest dreams and desires? Do you feel positive and productive in your daily round? Stay vibrantly in the present and focus on right action. It works!
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) Uplifting and encouraging, springtime delivers hope and inspiration to the Lion's den and door. Spirits soar as days grow longer; warming trends ignite action and strong desires to explore and discover direct your path. Pay attention to the journey, enjoy the scenery, see the sights and listen to the sounds; take your time. Haste makes waste, don't rush the process.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) Mercury retrograde favors a return to love and life regarding relationships. Is there something or someone you'd like to reconnect with, revive or resurrect? Take a leisurely stroll through the past via quiet, quality meditation and review. Practice compassion and forgiveness. Self-care is essential to good living and life. Be kind to you.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) Spring marks the second half of your solar year, when you move from the personal and internal toward the social and external. Meeting up and sharing with others, considering alternative points of view and getting out and about are themes. You're traveling through familiar territory and in this go-round, you know what leads where. Follow the map, enjoy the journey.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) You may experience a combination of conflicting or competing interests and desires as thoughts feed emotions and personal agendas fuel self-willed action. Observe how you react to others behaviors and recognize the power of choice. Patience is a virtue now and being calm and centered-in-goodness is the key to success. Invest in personal change-for-the-better.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) Hearts flutter and romance kindles as mental Mercury joins force with wild Uranus in fiery Aries. Spring is in the air and fresh frontiers beckon discovery. Channel energies in a process of positive, productive, creative manifestation. Identify what you love and pursue it, taking care to follow a road of goodness and grace. Revive self-care, feel and heal. Be present today.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) Home life is the best life now. Changing seasons regenerate soul and spirit as you focus on personal self-care and domestic improvement. Family members who appear to be upset are actually in a process of co-creative spiritual awakening. Maintain healthy boundaries with as you cultivate the budding garden within. Weed and water, live and let go.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Great ideas, wild thoughts and ingenious brainstorms are par for the course as seasons shift and planets align in your solar 3rd house of mental perception and definition. Make lists, pen notes and record epiphanies. The world as you know it is history. Transformation is the name of the game. Open your heart and mind to metamorphic change. Lead the way.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Candles flicker as you close the door on another revolution around the sun. Gather thoughts and count your blessings as you experience the wisdom and grace of gratitude. A full and thankful heart has little room for anger, self-doubt or fear. Breathe deep and proceed with courage. After all, youre the most powerful and important person in your life.
