Visible planets: Morning: Mercury, Saturn Evening: Venus, Mars, Jupiter
The last days of February and the waxing week of the Virgo-Pisces full Moon emanate themes of holistic health and universal healing – individually and collectively, locally and globally – as well as etheral, invisible tracks of mystical experience, divine origin, spiritual surrender and the ultimate, eternal Oneness of Creation.
Birth and death continue as the foundational touchstone upon which the human reality is structured. Ends and beginnings make up the core definition of our physical, material world. Can we perceive anything that does not have a creative birth and ultimate, inevitable death?
The Big Bang Theory fits neatly into this paradigm, and it’s one of the reasons I resist accepting it as truth. Perhaps the origin of the Universe goes beyond the confines of human perception and explanation, a Great Mystery that is written outside the human codex, in a syntax we cannot understand. In 1998, Carlos Castaneda – one of my supreme spiritual and metaphysical teachers – published The Active Side of Infinity, a sort of memoir and tribute to his teachers, the men and women of knowledge that opened doors to previously inexperienced worlds of perception and dimension, the worlds of altered states and realities, spirits and allies, worlds that we as humans accept with great doubt and skepticism, if at all.
In his book, following the dedication to two of his UCLA Anthropology professors, way back when, and the table of contents, Castaneda writes two separate pages on The Big Bang: Syntax and The Other Syntax. When I read his words for the first time in 1999, I was stunned and deeply gratified. Who would dare to doubt the Big Bang? From who and where did this come?
Syntax
A man staring at his equations said that the universe had a beginning. There had been an explosion, he said. A bang of bangs, and the universe was born. And it is expanding, he said. He had even calculated the length of its life: ten billion revolutions of the earth around the sun.
The entire globe cheered: They found his calculations to be science. None thought that by proposing that the universe began, the man had merely mirrored the syntax of his mother tongue; a syntax which demands beginnings, like birth and developments, like maturation and ends, like death, as statements of facts.
The universe began, and it is getting old, the man assured us, and it will die, like all things die, like he himself died after confirming mathematically the syntax of his mother tongue.
The Other Syntax
Did the universe really begin? Is the theory of the big bang true? These are not questions, though they sound like they are. Is the syntax that requires beginnings, developments and ends as statements of fact the only syntax that exists? That’s the real question.
There are other syntaxes. There is one, for example, which demands that varieties of intensity be taken as facts. In that syntax, nothing begins and nothing ends; thus birth is not a clean, clear-cut event, but a specific type of intensity, and so is maturation, and so is death.
A man of that syntax, looking over his equations, finds that he has calculated enough varieties of intensity to way with authority that the universe never began and will never end, but that it has gone, and is going on now, and will go through endless fluctuations of intensity.
That man could very well conclude that theuniverse itself is the chariot of intensity and that one could board it to journey through changes without end. He could conclude all that, and much more, perhaps without realizing that he is merely confirming the syntax of his mother tongue.
We are all products of syntax: the rules deriving logical formulas, order and structure. We are limited by exposure and experience. Our parents, family, friends and teachers program our little brain computers from day one. Sensation, stimuli and programming compose thought and generate emotion, fuel desire and dictate belief. Today, on Earth, we are capable of daunting depth and discovery. Technological advances transport us to wildly diverse virtual and physical worlds. And yet, we are primarily spirit, a miraculous and universally cosmic, yet common, combination of energy and space. We are the stars. We are the Big Bang and the expanding universe - the one without beginning or end - the alpha and omega. Embrace Eternity - the Eternal Mystery - and enjoy the ride.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) This week promises the grand opportunity to make things “right” in your life and relationships. Benevolent Jupiter in Leo makes the second of three trines to revolutionary Uranus in Aries, sparking courage and awarding you with the ability comprehend the bigger picture. What’s really right? Surrender ego and do it right.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) A heavy load of planets in the 4th quadrant of your solar chart portends a variety of social and professional interactions that ultimately leads to a rather surprising spiritual understanding. An uplifting Jupiter trine paves the way to inner awakening. Keep your heart and mind open as you move through the week, taking care of business while making sure you’re simply doing the next right thing. Good luck!
Gemini (May 20-June 20) The big cosmic message for months has been that every thing and every body in our ever-expanding Universe is energy and “we” are all interconnected. We are all made up of the same energetic, quantum physical stuff. Einstein proved this mathematically over a century ago, yet most of our political, social and economic institutions are still based on materialism. Do your best to live holistically and stay on the path.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) As the Moon grows in size and shape each night, so also does the celestial imperative for individual and collective change. The 7th and final square of revolutionary Uranus and metamorphic Pluto on March 16th is forcing a radical shift of consciousness on every level. No matter who you are or what you do, you have awakened. Take heed and read the writing on the wall. Take the quantum leap.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) While the Uranus-Pluto square walks away with more Oscars than any other celestial constellation nominated in 2014, the Jupiter–Uranus trine wins for best supporting cast and crew. While the deepest, darkest aspects of human life and human nature in Uranus-Pluto focus on terror, violence, greed and war, Jupiter-Uranus inspires us with courage, creativity and compassion. See and learn from them both.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) The upcoming full Moon in Virgo-Pisces takes place on March 5th @11:05 am MST. From now until then, pay attention to what pops up in the daily news – locally and globally – as well as in your heart and head. As part and particle of the bigger picture., everything you think, say and do affects everyone and everything on the planet. Reach out to others in the effort to heal yourself and the world. No joke, it’s real.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) Virgo and Pisces are polarized opposites and represent different ends of the same pole. Ruled by Mercury (mind) and Neptune (emotion), respectively, this lunar week is a balance of intellect and intuition. What better time to observe and analyze the interface between thoughts and feelings? What are the default positions of your soul and psyche? Who installed the program? Take it easy, feel the balance and relax.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) Several planetary aspects and imperatives deliver a week of increasing intensity - really? – individually and collectively. Global fires burn and international waters boil. The best strategy is to remain calm amidst the rising tides, work with people committed to holistic, planetary health and healing . Awakening is not always pleasant, enlightenment is not always nirvana. Cultivate courage and keep the faith.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) Serious Saturn’s entrance into Sagittarius emanates a mandate of truth and justice throughout the cosmos. Spiritual paths and enlightened thinking are favored choices on life’s mysterious journey now; material greed and imperialistic actions are not. Wherever you are and whatever you’re doing, grab the reins and take the high road of spirit over and the low road of rage, anger, fear and doubt. Onward cosmic traveler!
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) As the 7th and final exact Pluto-Uranus square fast approaches, take a break from the crazy chaos and dangerous dramas of what’s happening today on planet Earth. Whether it’s global climate change, terrorist terror, local politics or personal relationships, find a place and space to be calm and quiet. Tap into silence, feel your heart, ask for guidance. Breathe deep. Relax. Count your blessings. Pray for peace.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) We are being called to balance judgment with compassion, analysis with acceptance and doubt with courage. The Buddha realized that all life involves suffering and that it’s how we choose to deal with it that counts. There is no magic pill to erase pain and suffering in the world. But there are many paths to peace and equanimity. Emotions are like the weather, constantly changing. Accept change and embrace grace.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) As candles flicker and cakes are cut, the world turns. Tumultuous times and unsettling violence clash and crash as many pray for peace. The only way to counterbalance the inequity of killing and hatred is by living and cultivating peace, loving kindness and compassion. One person and one life at a time. Spiritual masters teach us to practice, pray and practice some more. Thanks for your daily prayers and practice.

Visible planets: Morning: Jupiter, Saturn Evening: Mercury, Venus, Mars
Venus and Mars are Allright Tonight....
Venus and Mars are all right tonight…
Here we are, entering the Pisces zodiac month, embarking upon Chinese Lunar New Year 4713 of the Goat (which in Western astrological circles symbolizes the sign of Capricorn) as well as moving through the first phase and week of the late, late degree Aquarius New Moon and lunar cycle. On Earth, this translates as a powerful end and new beginning. We have entered the radical era nueva of information maximus, a veritable new era of enlightenment and illumination, where we cannot escape the stimulus overload. Nor can we escape the fact that we are undeniably, irrevocably interconnected to everyone and everything happening here on planet Earth, and beyond. What I do affects not only my neighbors, family and friends, it also affects the beautiful Estella Maria Flores in Guanajuato, Mexico and Tibetan native Telo Tulku Rinpoche in Moscow, Russia, as well as all plants, animals, minerals and micro-organisms on the planet.
In this case, enlightenment is not nirvana, with its customary state of bliss, grace and mystical experience. It is the enlightenment of knowledge, facts and education that comes via exposure, awareness and life experience. It’s the inevitable anti-ignorance of the Aquarian Age, i.e. the Information Age of computers, the Internet, satellite TV, cell phones and handheld devices. We are exposed, constantly, continually, to “what’s going on” here, there, and ultimately, everywhere. Energetically, it’s a combination of birthing and sustaining, initiating and taking action while remaining realistic, practical, patient and – if we can swing it - compassionate. This is the Aquarian-Pisces cusp of the ages at best. And here we are…
Meanwhile, up in the heavens…
Low above the western horizon in twilight, the faint reddish tint of planet Mars – the Roman God of War - pales next to the brilliant platinum light of Venus – antiquity’s Goddess of Love and Beauty – as they dance above the silver sliver of a budding crescent Moon. On February 20th following sunset, the celestial trio moves ever closer in a ménage a trois, a rather stunning and unusual sight for both the serious stargazer and casual observer alike. It’s an opportunity to tap into the powerful “one” energy of the week and month, it’s cosmic! Check it out. Blessings and peace…
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) Both love planet Venus and motivated, martial Mars move into Aries and join force this week, turning the heat up in matters of love and desire. It’s a combination of sweet and hot, an intriguing recipe that proves exciting, fun and romantic. Beauty and grace are allies now, and balance the key to your success. Refrain from impulse and compulsive behaviors. You already have everything you need. work with what you have.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) You may find yourself revisiting memories of past or first love this week as both Venus and Mars move into your solar 12th house of subconscious desire. The power of your dreams, visions and imagination is especially potent now. If you are at all inclined to do so, channel what comes to you in some sort of creative work or endeavor. Also seek out inspirational people and experiences. You’ll be glad you did.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) Chinese Lunar New Year and the new Pisces zodiac month – along with a powerful Venus-Mars conjunction in your solar 11th house of friendship - combine for a week of rather exciting interaction with people and places that inspire you. Relax and surrender to your dreams and visions, cultivate compassion for yourself and others as you let go of fear, resentment and anger. Cultivate gratitude and embrace grace.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) The Pisces zodiac month and fresh Lunar New Year encourage Moonchildren to think positive, explore and discover. Planetary activity in your solar 9th house of the higher mind and higher self shines cosmic light upon the high road of spirit, encouraging you to explore and discover the unlimited potential and possibilities of our ever-expanding Universe. Tap into angelic guidance, invisible forces and the pure essence of inner divinity.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) A rather exciting and existential week presents itself as Chinese New Year heralds a uniquely different slant on the upcoming 12 months. For Virgos, this translates as a period of deepening intimacy, investment and commitment in relationships. Whether you deal with love or money, be clear and honest regarding your intentions and desires. Jumping into the bedroom or boardroom without pure motive is not a good idea.

Be your own best friend, share loving kindness and let your light shine.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) Going the distance, staying the course and finishing what you have started are themes the first week of Chinese Lunar New Year 4713. But also in orb are the shimmering, glimmering possibilities of our ever-expanding Universe and cosmos. Look within, forgive yourself and others, cultivate compassion and commit to a daily practice of physical health and spiritual wellness. You know what to do, just do it.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) A rather challenging, exciting week presents itself as solar and lunar light illuminates the ever-present divinity within and all around you. Life is a miracle and you are here to live and love it. Embracing the sparks, keeping the fire and fanning the flames are part and parcel of your responsibility and purpose here on Earth. Open your heart, release egoistic prisons and enjoy each and every moment of the precious journey.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Wowee kazowee. Your happy birthday month has ended and the luminescent road of Chinese New Year 4713 shimmers before you. Gather courage, confidence and creativity for an exciting journey through time and space. Whatever you want, whatever you desire, whatever you can imagine or envision can be yours. All you need is good food, good thoughts, good intentions and the good people who love you. Good luck!
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Congratulations on another revolution around the Sun! Whether you are 6 or 65, this is a year of great potential and possibility, a year shining with opportunity and magic. A fresh new lunar month and year, the exotic conjunction of sweet Venus and erotic Mars, and the advent of your rebirth combine in a divine mix of love, creativity and motivated action. Embrace your great good fortune, count your blessing and go forth.

Visible planets: Morning: Mercury, Saturn Evening: Venus, Mars, Jupiter
The Bridge bewteen Aquarius & Pisces Leads to the Eternal ONE The waning Moon rises in pre-dawn darkness all week, its shape more slender with each passing night. The starry blue-black canopy of deep space shimmers above, a sparkling canvas upon which to showcase the graceful crescent of our Mother Earth’s favorite child. And then on February 18th @ 4:47 pm MST, the Moon and Sun align in the conjunction aspect of a late, late degree Aquarius New Moon. The Moon will virtually disappear on that day, reappearing the following evening as an almost invisible arc of lunar light, low on the western horizon at dusk, following sunset.
Taking place at 29°59’54” Aquarius – just 6 seconds shy of zodiac Pisces – we find the Sun and Moon – along with all of us - crossing the bridge from Aquarius to Pisces two minutes after the Sun and Moon conjunct. The last New Moon, which took place on Jan. 20th at 0°08’ Aquarius, formed just three hours after the Sun had entered Aquarius. Both of these New Moons take place “on the cusp” of two neighboring zodiac signs, emanating the energies of both and therefore pointing out that transition from one energy to another is a natural, evolutionary process of personal and collective transformation and metamorphosis.
The transition from Aquarius to Pisces expands our identity from being individual members of the human race to embracing our kinship with all Creation. Plants and animals, weather, wind and water, fire and air, the Earth and stars become our companions, brothers and sisters. We discover we are Family, living here together as One, flying through space-time in the eternal magic of now. We discover there are many realities, many levels of consciousness, visible and invisible forces that transcend our three-dimensional physical world. This New Moon calls upon us to move beyond the limiting confines of our preconceived notions and ideas, politics and religions, let go of judgment and ego-centered perspectives to see and experience life through the numinous eyes and heart of the Divine Cosmic Spirit. We are the stars. Good luck and may the Force be with you.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) As the last quarter Moon wanes its way toward Chinese Lunar New Year and night skies darken, stars shimmer and sparkle, inviting you to awaken sleeping hopes and dreams. Billions of people, billions of wishes and billions of galaxies, we are all here together, sharing the same time and place. This week offers the Ram the golden treasures of forgiveness, loving kindness and compassion. Embrace their grace.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) The last week of the Aquarius solar month and the first week of Mercury direct in Aquarius combine for a more progressive, proactive approach to life. An extended period of domestic attention and time with family is morphing into a good investment. You can see the results. Now it’s time to connect with people outside of house and home, see friends and explore new territory. Love is found wherever you go.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) A happy smile and a positive attitude are allies in general, but this week you find even more benefits in both. A fresh, new path of life awaits you. Issues of life and death, your most cherished hopes and dreams, as well as the high road of spirit are factors on your journey. The more you experience, the more you know. The more you explore, the more you discover. Research options and chart your course.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) As Valentines Day approaches, you may find yourself cooking and/or creating special treats for those you love. Keep your heart open and embrace the joy of giving. Not everyone is as talented as you are when it comes to crafting gifts and presenting them, so have fun. And remember, expectations can be a set-up for disappointment. Everything comes back, in it’s own way and time. Keep the faith.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) Good things come to those who continue to reassess creations and accomplishments over the last year, improving what needs improvement, fixing what needs repair and revising what needs revision. Expansion and growth are themes. Make sure you balance time and money equations along the way. The Jupiter influence often feels like the well will never run dry. Monitor the flow and conserve rather than waste.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) Moving forward and getting it done are themes for the Virgin this week. Projects often take much longer than you expect, but the good news is you see tons of progress. You have come so, so far from where you started. Now it’s all about maintaining momentum and finishing the job. Valentines Day offers a happy respite from the daily grind. Just don’t put too much emphasis on it one way or another.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) The extremely late-degree Aquarius New Moon of Feb. 18th calls us to recognize our individual interconnectedness to the greater whole. And giving our unique and special gifts and talents to the world for its betterment is the rest. Take a good look around and see just how interdependent we are – consider the Moon, the stars and the Sun. Embrace the power of being you and be the best you can be. Share the love.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) Happy Valentine’s Day and night shimmer with possibility and intrigue as both Venus and Mars in your solar 5th house of love and romance stack the deck in your favor. A combination of motivation and charm make you close to irresistible now, pursue what you want and don’t be surprised when you get it. Also take note of your new sense of personal freedom as you release resentment and embrace love.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) As the Moon wanes and Mercury moves forward, combinations of retreat and pursuit are common. Some things are best left on the shelf, while others benefit from action and attention. Emotional issues may need to settle and heal; turbulent water is hard to see through. On the other hand, where the path is clear and you are blessed with good intention and pure motive, go forth. Embrace the joy of goodness.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) Move in the right direction, take life one day at a time and keep faith that as long as you are good and do good, your life will be good. A long period of personal transformation reaches a glimmering milestone this week as the Sun and Moon come together in late, late Aquarius and initiate the Chinese Lunar New Year of the Goat. Prepare for an extended period of personal and spiritual rebirth. Let your light shine.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Days shine and nights shimmer as the second of two consecutive New Moons in Aquarius take place. From beginning to end, this has to be one of the most important and powerfully charged zodiac months of your life. The people and partners with whom you have associated are angels and guardian spirits for you here on Earth. Honor them with the love, attention and admiration they deserve. Enjoy the joy of joy.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Starlight shimmers and darkness reigns as moonlight wanes. And it’s a perfect time to prepare for your upcoming birthday month and annual day of rebirth. Baby up and take the very best care of yourself possible. Rest, relax and regenerate. Contact guardian spirits and call upon your angels. Dream and daydream, imagine and envision. Everything you think, say and do is a contribution. Be the change you want.

Visible planets: Morning: Saturn Evening: Venus, Mars, Jupiter
A Return to the "retro" '60's via Peace, Love and Rock n' Roll
The last week of Mercury retrograde is upon us and I can already feel the ruminating energy of directional planetary change. The snow has melted down here in the wild West End – which is not necessarily a good thing – and the Sun is brighter, more direct and warm. The mud is gone – for a few days anyway – and it feels just like Spring. I even saw my first bluebird yesterday.
I’m going through seed catalogs, looking for strains with non-GMO, organic guarantees, having fun with beautiful pictures of Rainbow Swiss Chard, Kaleidoscope Carrots – Atomic Red, Cosmic Purple, Lunar White, Solar Yellow and Bambino all in one offer! – and, of course, the luscious red and purple heirloom tomatoes that I’ve come to know and love.
My husband left on a spontaneous trip to Baja California one week into Mercury Rx and experienced the classic textbook ramifications of the choice. Travel…and all things under the “transportation” umbrella – airplanes, automobiles, tickets, TSA, etc. – are not favored under Mercury retrograde. Fortunately, he maintained his sense of humor – knowing ahead of time he was tempting fate – and has settled into a happy return to Mexico and the East Cape, a place he knows and loves and needed to reevaluate. He’s reconnecting with his Baja buddies, touring some of his old haunts and revisiting places we’ve been and wanted to go back to.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch…I’m hangin’ with our three beautiful blonde doggies, taking a Colorado Master Gardener class – something I’ve wanted to do for years – attending to organizing my creative and non-creative messes, taking care of old business and preparing for the upcoming planting and growing season. Along the way, I’ve found time to read some great stuff, rest, relax and contemplate our ever-evolving place and position as human beings here on Earth.
These are wild and crazy times, astrology or no astrology. Apocalypse or no apocalypse. Climate change or no climate change. Democrats or Republicans. It is what it is. I find peace and serenity in quiet places, on morning walks and at the magical time of sunset. A crackling fire, a good book and a bowl of popcorn is all I need at night. The expansion and contraction of the Universe and cosmos, hot and cold, continues. Night and day comes and goes.
The rumbling of tanks and fire of munitions, drones, bombs, killing, torture and abuse also continues. The national and international news feeds are often horrific, and many times, I simply can not watch them. There is so much pain and suffering in our world. What can I do?
Everywhere I see and feel the ‘60’s. It’s a time of reckoning for all of us who lived through them, who came of age then, who felt the angst, suffering and sorrow of the Viet Nam War, the assassinations of JFK, MLK and RFK, and, as a result, wanted to make a difference. The Civil Rights Movement, the Anti-War Movement, Women's Liberation, Back to the Earth Movement, Flower Power, long hair, hippies, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, the Stones and the Doors, hippies and “sex, drugs and rock n’ roll” were all phenomena of the ‘60s.
Not everyone “tuned in, turned on and dropped out” but it was a prevalent theme. It was a time of personal and social revolution. So, in respect of all the retro and retrograde energy currently in orb – and in keeping with the ongoing Pluto-Uranus square, that challenges us to do so – here’s to reconnecting with the heart and soul of the 60’s. Peace, love and whatever else you find along the Journey. Good luck!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) The last week of Mercury retrograde provides you with plenty of opportunity to take care of old business, tie up loose ends and finish what needs to be finished. Mars in Pisces favors forgiveness, compassion and surrender, especially where you and others are concerned. Be aware of self-defeating behaviors or self-destructive habits that may emerge out of the blue. Focus on good intention and right action.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) The Leo-Aquarius full Moon on the cross-quarter day of Feb. 3rd stands as a powerful milestone and turning point in the Bull’s solar year. Take note of who showed up and what took place over the last week. These people and events carry significant weight in the days to come. Home life, personal life and physical health must be a top priority now. Relax and regenerate via good food and good rest.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) Sunlight sparkles as the increasingly more direct solar rays infuse you with a sense of awakening and new life. You may feel more uplifted and encouraged than you have in months. The high road of spirit beckons discovery; expand and explore the world outside your door. Seek out wise teachers, gurus and avatars. Research subjects and authors that inspire you. Read, rest and exercise. Life goes on.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) You may find yourself going over ledgers, finances or secrets in the attempt to help and understand situations of joint investment or interest. Partnerships and intimate relationships must be approached with both honesty and compassion. Others may not be up-to-speed or aware of what you’ve done and how you feel about it, so it’s your job to enlighten them. Focus on emotional detachment and simply do your best.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) Ginormous planet Jupiter retrograde in Leo continues to shine light upon what you’ve done and how you’ve grown over the last year. Take it all in with a big dose of honey. After all, life is sweet. Expanding territory personally and professionally are themes. Rose-colored glasses are great as long as you don’t wear them 24/7. Clarify partnerships, examine intentions and determine responsibilities before you jump in.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) Partnerships and significant others take precedence in your week. Cross-quarter energy may feel a bit stressful when it comes to issues of personal self-esteem and improvement. Just remember: you’re good enough, smart enough, and doggone it, people like you! Always words of wisdom for analytical Virgos, especially where others are concerned. Venus and Mars in Pisces favor love and romance. Take action.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) Friends and lovers, lovers and friends. Whether it’s platonic, romantic, professional or personal, relationships are where it’s at now. Inspiration, creativity, camaraderie and fellowship are themes as the Aquarius-Leo polarity ignites the cosmos with solar electricity and Jupiter fire. This translates as an auspicious time for heartfelt expressions and activities. Get together with people you love and like. Enjoy the joy.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) Inner work proves enlightening as solar fire fans the flames of family relationships, illuminating the variety of roles each child, mother, father, sister and brother has played and plays in your past and present life. Good news is that you see the beauty and bounty of personal responsibility, the power of acceptance and the glory of forgiveness. Honor the love in your heart and surrender to its grace.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) The Aquarius-Pisces interface acts as an effective tonic for treating whatever ails you now. While you may feel challenged when it comes to issues of emotional and financial security - especially if you are paying someone else’s way - recognize the power of personal choice. How did you get to where you are today? What’s your part? Emotional detachment and enlightened compassion are perpetual allies. Tap into them and relax.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) Velvety, voluptuous Venus in numinous Pisces smoothens rough edges of tension and stress that come with fear-based thinking and acting. In place of despair, she offers hope, in place of doubt, she gives you faith. Acceptance and forgiveness are allies in the battle of darkness, and gratitude is the attitude of grace. Also available for wellness are angels of love and light. Look and you will see, seek and you shall find.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) The first week of February marks the yearly Aquarius cross-quarter point in the Earth’s revolution around the Sun. This heralds several days of intensified electromagnetic force, when all life upon the planet instinctively feels the energetic pull. Dynamic and strong, challenging and balancing, this is perennially one of Aquarian awakening, rebirth and new life. Seize the day, explore the world, embrace the grace.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) The Aquarius zodiac month is characteristically one of physical retreat and spiritual regeneration for the Fish, a time to rest and relax. This year, make sure you’re aware of the metaphysical needs of soul and spirit. You may feel pulled out and about by personal, professional or social commitments or responsibilities. Good news is you understand the benefits of self-care and self-improvement. Keep up the good work.

Mercury Rx & the Feb.3rd Leo-Aquarius Full Moon
Revive, revitalize, recover, recuperate, rejuvenate, regenerate, refresh, recharge, replenish, reactivate, redefine, reassess, reorganize, research, return, remember…
Periods of Mercury retrograde are actually some of my most productive times of the year. Instead of dread and drudgery, thinking nothing will work out the way I want it to, that all projects I start are doomed to failure, and that I might as well throw the towel in and do nothing, I find myself feeling it’s time to take a break, relax and look around me. God and country knows I have plenty of creative messes, unruly closets and drawers that need to be gone through, straightened up and reorganized. It’s time to gather up some empty boxes and prune the bush – give away, donate or discard what is no longer being used or needs a new home. There are so many things I “never have time for” and shove to the back of the desk, put on the shelf and then forget about, caught up in life’s perpetual merry-go-round of daily chores, family responsibilities and economic imperatives.
On January 21st at 8:54 am MST planet Mercury, fleet-footed messenger of the gods, went retrograde at 17° Aquarius. The only other planet retrograde at that time was jovial Jupiter - king of kings and god of gods – the largest planet in our solar system, awarding this particular period of Mercury retrograde with the good luck and good fortune that the “Greater Benefic” is famous for. Also of note is the happy sextile aspect of hard-working Saturn in Sagittarius to mentally talented, magically inclined Mercury in early Aquarius during the first half of February. This adds a good dose of inspired self-discipline and realistic enlightenment to the pot. We can see further and work harder, utilizing the unique abilities of practical application and mechanical organization in the process of resurrecting and redirecting our individual selves and lives. It’s an auspicious time to reconnect with and redefine our most cherished hopes and dreams, feel our feelings and recover our light.
So, why not get down and dirty, clean those closets and organize those messes? Go through lists, discard old paperwork, work on tax prep, hem those Levi’s, and repair what needs to be repaired. Focus on what you have already started, left undone and needs to be finished. And if you’re really lucky, take that break you’ve wanted to take forever. Rest, relax and revitalize - body, soul and spirit. Take good care of you. The time is now, the stars are in favor, and you won’t be sorry! Good luck!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) As we wax our way toward the Feb. 3rd Leo-Aquarius full Moon, you may feel your heart swell with the magnificent magic of universal love. The uplifting power of hope combines with the fuel of inspiration as you experience the dynamic results of positive interactions with people whom you share common interest and dreams. Keep one foot firm in a daily practice of spiritual wellness. Otherwise, you may get lost.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) With the Sun and Mercury in air Aquarius and several planets in watery Pisces, you may feel as if you are floating in a somewhat dreamlike reality where the lines between form and formlessness seem to merge. You see the eternal oneness of all creation, yet you remain quite clear about personal boundaries and values. Relax and rest as you review life goals and aspirations. Take it easy. No pressure or stress.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) The Leo-Aquarius full Moon is one of the year’s most popular Moons as individual and collective hearts face off in a dance of love and camaraderie. If you feel like being reclusive, rethink it. Balance quiet peace at home with uplifting social activity. Contact old friends and honor friendship. Mercury and Jupiter retrograde favor everything with the prefix “re.” Reconnect, return, resume, revisit and restore.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) Revive, revitalize, recover and rejuvenate are just a few “re” words that fit for Moonchildren this week. As you move up to and through the advent of the Leo-Aquarius full Moon, take time to review the amazingly important part you play in your own life. Self-love and personal responsibility are staunch allies on the journey. Treat yourself like a queen or king as you celebrate joy in the magic of now.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) Take some time to rest and relax prior to this week’s Leo-Aquarius “party” Moon. And don’t beat yourself up if you decide to stay home, dine in or invite friends over rather than go out. The uplifting trine of electric Uranus to Jupiter and the Moon in Leo promises excitement, no matter where you are, so just follow your heart and go with the flow. Relationships deepen via compassion and kindness. Be sweet!
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) With a posse of planets in sentimental Pisces, you may feel like rounding up a few good old pals for a night on the town to revisit old haunts and recapture memories. Companionship and camaraderie fuel happy fires and you may find yourself seeking someone special with whom to share your life. If you’re in a committed relationship, remember why you fell in love. Embrace your partner and share the grace of love.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) The illuminating light and uplifting energy of air Aquarius perennially opens the heart and inspires the spirit of sweet and loving Libras. And this year, you awaken to golden treasure as electric Uranus casts divine sparks upon the creative fires smoldering within. With ruler Venus, Mars and Neptune in Pisces, it’s the perfect time to reassess and rekindle hopes, dreams and visions. Enjoy the heat, keep the faith.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) It’s the perfect time to revitalize, rejuvenate and regenerate body, soul and spirit via good rest and peaceful relaxation. Find a quiet, private place at home and make it your sacred space. Honor the gift of life and feel the grace of gratitude. Cultivate inner serenity via prayer and meditation. Accept the great mystery of death exactly as it is: a great mystery. Feel the magic of love in your heart and share it with the world.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) Fire and air combust in a solar-lunar dance of love and light as the Leo Moon opposes the Aquarius Sun, igniting desire and fueling action. Happy trines from Uranus and Jupiter to Sagittarius favor social activities and spiritual pursuit. Good news is that you can find it all close to home. Long trips and travel may just be a wild goose chase on a runaway train. Take a good look around, the answers lie within.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) You may feel slightly out-of-synch or out-of-tune with people, places and things as the Moon and Sun move toward their Feb. 3rd opposition. No worries, it’s exactly as it should be. Everything has a season and a reason, acceptance is the answer and personal responsibility is a golden tool of freedom. Identify your part in every play and liberate yourself from anger and resentment. It’s all about choice. Choose joy.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Big times and happy smiles come knocking at your door as the Aquarius birthday month marches on. And this week the Leo-Aquarius full Moon promises plenty of social activity and romantic or financial opportunity. Keep your mind and heart open as you travel a road less traveled. Old friends and acquaintances may pop up along the way to catch up, listen to your stories and share some of theirs. Have fun.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) With a veritable posse of planets in Pisces – including love and money planet Venus - you may feel like the sweet-hearted leader of a rather raucous gang. Good news is that it’s all in fun. Enjoy the menagerie as you tap into invisible forces, spirit guides and guardian angels. The Aquarius zodiac month is one of Piscean gestation, a time to regenerate and recharge. Take it easy, rest and prepare for rebirth.

Initiation & the Carpe Diem "Seize the Day" Energy of Aquarius
The January 20th New Moon took place at 0° Aquarius - the earliest possible degree – as the Sun and Moon aligned in symmetry to cross the celestial bridge from Capricorn into Aquarius, together. The zero degree of any tropical zodiac sign denotes birth and new life, a genesis that offers the initiate a full spectrum view and vantage point of the shimmering cosmological road ahead.
The last several new Moons – October [0° Scorpio], November [0°Sagittarius] and December [0° Capricorn] – have also taken place at the zero degree of their respective signs, giving all of these lunations the intrinsic metaphysical mission of initiation – one of the most powerful mystical concepts of the ancient and modern ages.
From the antiquity of alchemy to the cutting edge of quantum physics, we evolve, revision and reinterpret the world and cosmos in which we live. It’s an ongoing process of birth, death and rebirth, an ever-revolving wheel of exploration and experience. We return mentally, emotionally and physically to where we’ve been before, and yet the road of life stretches eternally out before us.
This month, the Aquarius zodiac month and Aquarius lunar month began precisely at the same time, gifting us with the fortuitous opportunity to “enjoy, seize, use, make use of” the day – carpe diem – in a process of alchemical, quantum physical initiation via present moment living, all month long. Aquarius offers us the brilliant touchstone of knowledge, information and inspiration, opening our hearts to the unlimited potential of our ever-expanding Universe and the interconnectedness of all beings, energies and ideas. It awakens us to the divine spark and inner light, embraces us in friendship, brotherhood and sisterhood, bridges the gap between rich and poor, old and young, male and female, plant and animal, earth and star, one and all. It is here we find our connection as an individual to the collective whole, seek out people of like mind and spirit, identify common ground and band together under the banner of our most idealistic hopes and dreams. It is here we discover the magical union of individual heart and cosmic heart, individual mind and universal mind.
So as we talk our talk and walk our walk this month, may we talk and walk the illuminated, self-actualized Aquarian path of fellowship, friendship, truth, liberty, justice, equality and camaraderie, understand our unique differentness and essential sameness, dance the dance of light, compassion and peace, and feel our hearts beat with the detached, enlightened Aquarian passion of universal love and the powerul promise of good intention. And may we live the modern western tag of the ancient dictum carpe diem: “take advantage of the opportunities arising in the day” each and every day, every day of this sparkling, enchanting Aquarian solar and lunar month. Good luck!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) Old territory feels like fresh terrain as you retrace steps and find yourself in places and spaces you have been before. But because you live life differently today than you have in the past, sunlight sparkles and moonbeams dance. You are free to create, express and discover the best you can be and do. Meanwhile, romantic opportunities return and financial obligations remain. Take care of business and seize the day.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) Planetary power in your solar 10th house of goals and achievements may have you thinking about what you have accomplished in life so far and what you would still like to do. Whether it’s a bucket list or one made out of high school or college, the instructions are the same. Follow your heart. Delineate true desires, core values and cherished dreams. Hope and optimism are allies. Seek truth and you’ll find treasure.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) Ruler Mercury goes retrograde on Jan. 21st and will remain so for about three weeks. Characteristically, this a time of stasis and recovery, when we retrace steps and return to places and spaces we have been. Rather than feel stuck, take advantage of this deeply opportune time to reassess and redefine your life and loves. Research, review and re-create your path of heart.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) On the heels of a freedom-loving New Moon, a sparkling new year awaits your creation. But, of course, it’s not all about you. Choosing appropriate partners, playmates and bedmates is a huge part of the upcoming twelve months. And because you have tested the waters and been through a long process of pairing and sharing over the last few years, you know what works and what does not. Stay true to heart.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) While the overall expansion and growth influence of the recurring 12-year Jupiter transit continues, the slant now is one of reassessment and review. No doubt, you have opened doors on a variety of options and opportunities, met amazing people and been embraced by the world in general. Now it’s time to prune the bush and shine the silver. Focus on what is good. Stay focused and don’t get lost in abundance.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) Your ruling planet Mercury is now retrograde in Aquarius, your solar 6th house of health and self-improvement, work and service. Because these are themes of Virgo life purpose and dharma, this is a time of golden, synchronistic opportunity regarding programs of personal wellness and well-being. Practice is the keyword here. Stay on the path, do your best and focus on progress rather than perfection.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) For Libras, the Aquarius zodiac month comes as one of annual creative potential and desire. Increasing daylight and more direct solar rays infuse you with electromagnetic energy and power, charging psychic batteries, opening the heart and igniting the soul. The effects are uplifting and exciting as you feel a sense of renewal, hope and optimism. Mercury retrograde says heal, relax and enjoy the joy.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) With the Sun, Venus and retrograde Mercury transiting your 4th house of family and personal self, you may find yourself and those closest to you in the process of recovery or review regarding health and wealth. And we all know that “health is wealth” so take good care of you! Remember that what you put in your mouth is a huge part of wellness. Examine diet and improve it. Eat fresh and organic, no GMOs.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) With motivator Mars now transiting fellow mutable sign Pisces, you may feel internal push and pressure regarding place of residence, family relationships and personal self-care. Perhaps it’s time to consider a clean up or fix-up at home, a move of some sort or a more realistic assessment of your physical body and emotional soul. Happiness is an inside job and in order to feel joy, you must feel good. Check it out.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) With your birthday month now over and done with, candles out and cakes consumed, it’s time to get going on the road to success – however you define it. But first, take a look in the rear view mirror. Mercury retrograde favors a three-week period of reassessment and review; it’s a time to consider where you’ve been and where you want to go. Take it easy, one day at a time. Enjoy the pace.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Congratulations on another revolution around the Sun. Your birthday month glimmers before you. Life is good and you have everything you need. Mercury and Jupiter retrograde encourage rest and relaxation, relationship expansion and healing. Take a good look at where you are today and how you got there. Who do you need to thank and show appreciation? It’s easy to get caught up in ego. Do the opposite and enjoy the benefits.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) With mental Mercury now retrograde in Pisces, you have been given license to baby up, cocoon if you want to, rest and relax. The upcoming three weeks favor finishing rather than starting, so go ahead and wrap up all those loose ends. Review, research and redefine from A to Z, indulge yourself in personal projects and programs of health and well-being. Also open to angelic forces and spirit guides. They are here to help.

As Above, So Below...the Aquarius New Moon rings it ALL in...
It is always amazing to me how things happening here on Earth so closely align with what takes place in the heavens. Of course, I look for it to do so, and we all know how much the outcome - or perceptual results - of a situation or experiment is influenced by the one seeking the answer, information or solution. Much like the scientist testing his theories, I find myself perennially wondering if I’m feeding the cosmic machine with my own expectations, hopes and dreams; fueling the fires of creation with my own creative desires.
To some extent, I know that self-fulfilled prophecies hold true. I understand that each one of us sees the world from our own vantage point, with uniquely shaped eyes, carved from years of individual cause and effect. Experience, exposure and environment factor into the evolutionary equation of inheritance, genetics and DNA.
And then, voila! Here we are, living and breathing our own particular, one-of-a-kind dance, dancing in a magnificently enormous ballroom with millions - no, billions - of other human beings. We dance in step and out-of-step with each other, sometimes happy and sometimes sad, mad or glad, but we continue dancing, as long as we have life and breath.
I have written many words over the last few years about the ongoing Pluto-Uranus square. It’s the hottest astrological news of the decade, and 21st Century, so far. The seven exact planetary squares occurring between June 2012 and March 2015 of these two slow-moving outer planets constellate a slow-moving, sweeping, transformational metamorphosis of the individual self, as well as the collective whole. We can see and feel it personally, as well as socially and globally. We are seeing and experiencing the indelible connection between self and other, self and society, self and government, self and world. We no longer exist solo, and no man, woman or child is an island, we are all interconnected. The Information Age and Internet rule. Real privacy is non-existent. We can no longer hide out, unless of course, we are truly lost. Even then, chances are, we will be found.
As a collective body, we humans morph and change together. We are powerfully affected by each other’s thoughts, actions, words and deeds. Even the rebels and revolutionaries, outlaws, idealists and isolationists cannot escape the tsunamic waves of awakening and change at work today in the cosmic seas of collective consciousness. Amidst all the chaos and polarity, perceptual divisions of race, class and wealth, we are One.
Thus, the ancient esoteric dictum: As above, so below. Onward Cosmic Traveler. Ride the Wave.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) A very rare planetary configuration at the time of the Aquarius New Moon suggests this year could be one of the most pivotal years in human history. And because it takes place in Aries-Capricorn, prepare yourself for one of the most pivotal years of your life as well. You are set to begin something totally new and different, a departure from what you have known. Embrace the light and go forth.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) Something big takes place in your spiritual life this week as invisible forces align with angelic presence. Inter-dimensional doors open to etheric realms and universal possibilities. All you have to do is keep your eyes, mind and heart open via relaxation, meditation and prayer. In other words, don’t try or work too hard. Relax and trust the mysterious power of synchronicity. Seek and you shall find.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) A pack of planets in air-Aquarius encourages you to explore, expand and discover on every level. New possibilities and options glimmer upon every proverbial horizon, but you must first take those first important steps toward discovery. Positive thinking and optimistic attitudes are allies as your embark upon your journey. Think about what is right and what is good, what you love and feel in your heart.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) Neptune, Mars and Chiron in watery Pisces uplift and inspire you toward a more spiritual, enlightened way of living and being. You understand the power of compassion and the peace of acceptance, but are not always quick to find them. Cranky people and challenging relationships force you to face what you do and do not like, ultimately pointing you where you want to go. Just stay on that shining path of heart.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) Mercury, Venus and a new Moon in opposite Aquarius encourage fresh starts in your relationships, especially where love, money and health are concerned. Seek out people and environments you find entertaining, artistic, fun and smart. Beauty and curiosity take you to intriguing places and spaces, follow your heart and find your golden treasure.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) Health and wealth are themes as the Aquarius new Moon sets the stage for a week and following year of sequential self-improvement and self-betterment. You are on the path, on the road of happy destiny, following the signs and omens. Just make sure you are awake, aware and practicing programs of wellness and well-being. The golden key to success: friends and associates who support and encourage you. Yes!
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) A fresh new Moon in your solar 5th house of love and romance favors revolutionary new beginnings in all matters of the heart. What we feel, we can heal, and it takes courage to explore the deepest reaches of our hearts. Good news, the cosmos support the spiritual warrior within, you are being guided by angelic presence and heavenly force. Faith and trust are allies in the journey. Ask, seek and discover.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) Inner emotion and deep feelings take center stage as invisible forces align with spiritual presence in a dance of light and dark. Fear begets fear and faith begets faith. You are being asked to trust truth and embrace goodness, banish doubt and discover the fire within. Quiet evenings at home and calm, peaceful places help you find your mystical center, the divine spark, the courageous heart. Relax.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) You may feel a jumpstart to the year as the Aquarius new Moon shines light upon the shimmering path of new hope and fresh discovery. Use your mind and body to follow your heart, change your patterns and embark upon the high road of spirit. Goodness is your ally and self-discipline is your most powerful tool on the journey of renewed self-awakening and awareness. Happiness is an inside job and it’s up to you.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) Breathe deep, take it slow and follow your heart as the Sun and Moon come together in your solar 2nd house of self-resource and responsibility. You are standing on the precipice of an entirely new reality. The world, as you know it has crumbled. Hard to believe, but true. Now you face a bevy of choices and opportunities. Which way do you want to go? Focus on freedom, individuality and truth.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Welcome to the Aquarius solar/lunar month, a time of body-soul communion, regeneration and rebirth. Gather your forces and unite with spirit, ask your angels and follow the light. This is a year of exponential discovery and growth, a year when you will be given a myriad of choices and opportunities to manifest your dreams and experience the ultimate joy and magic of life. The golden key: commit to goodness.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) The Aquarius new Moon perennially takes place in your 12th house of the numinous and divine, heralding a month of great power and potential regarding inner spiritual work and divine guidance. You may feel less social and more reclusive, crave solitude or simply enjoy the peace of silence. This is a magical time to practice prayer and meditation, connect with angels, dream, rest and relax. Embrace the space.

No News is Good News? & Ignorance Is Bliss?
Today the phrase “no news is good news” keeps running through my head. I realize this proverbial saying means that not hearing about a situation, or not hearing from or about someone, suggests that nothing bad has happened. However, right now I’m referring to media news on TV and the Internet – local, national and international – shootings, bombings, killings, kidnapping, torture, hit-and-runs; rampant rage, fear and dis-ease. Poison in our food, poison in our land and water, poison in our minds and hearts? In this context, King James the 1st's early 17th Century adage might be translated or interpreted as “ignorance is bliss.” But we all know where that leads…
For several years now I have been bombarded with the awareness that there is SO MUCH bad stuff going on in our world. As an astrologer, I see it constellated in the ongoing Uranus-Pluto square, a long-term transit that functions to awaken, expose and activate positive personal and collective change. It’s a transit of shock and awe, chaos and creation that mandates ultimate transformation and metamorphosis. And the process is brutal.
That said, I’m not one who wants to bury my head in the sand or sweep things under the rug. But, heaven help me, what gives?! Watching and listening to “the news” these days promotes distress, sorrow and despair. Not to mention anxiety. It’s no wonder so many Americans are on prescribed anti-depressants or anti-anxiety medication.
Like my friend and political guru, the former Governor Jesse Ventura once asked me, “What happened to peace?” The concept of peace, the desire to promote peace, the desire to want peace – what happened? It’s true that violence breeds more violence, pain and suffering generate more pain and more suffering. Fear begets fear. Solutions to problems do not come from more of the same energy and problem. It’s a scientific fact.
What happens if I don’t hear about all the slaughter, injustice and greed in the world? Does my life become better? Am I a better person, more willing to help and serve, contribute and create? I understand today that happiness is an inside job. I am responsible for what I do and say. But what I think? I’m not so sure. Where do thoughts come from? My first thought may not be the right one. It may come as a knee-jerk reaction to an exterior stimulus – the news? - that feels threatening, virtually life threatening - in some way or another. Instinct and survival run strong in the blood of human experience. Fight or flight?
But, alas, I cannot run away. Not really. Not today, not in this over-amped world of super-sized polarities, ideas and ideologies. Fighting for religion, fighting for God? I don’t think so. After all, it’s the Age of Aquarius, the Information Age, the Age of Enlightenment. Yes, enlightenment. Bringing it all into the light of day, the cold hard realities of need and greed, inequity and inequality. Abuse of power and lack of power. The news – the good, bad and ugly – the stuff we have to work with. And the good news? It comes in the quiet meadows and magical forests, blazing sunsets and starry skies, Venus and Mercury dancing together in turquoise twilight, the innocent hearts of children and the deep red, juicy organic tomatoes we grow from seed. It comes in the strong bonds of brothers and sisters, good friends and honest relationships.
Yes, the good news lives here too. I just need to see it and continue to seek it. Feel the gratitude and experience the grace of love, kindness, faith, compassion and acceptance. Somehow, some way, may peace be with us all. And, no matter what, I will not give up on peace. No way! After all, I’m a Libra and it’s my guiding light. My guardian angel. I cannot give up on peace. Blessings and, well, peace…let’s keep the light alive.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) As Aries’ ruler Mars enters Pisces this week, awaken to any and all potentially self-destructive habits and behaviors that may cause harm to you and others. The purpose of the last few years’ upset and chaos is that of positive, creative change. It’s about true freedom, freedom from self-imposed prisons of compulsive, impulsive actions and thinking. Awareness is the key. Replace old patterns with heathly new ones.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) Welcome to a year of continued expansion regarding home and family, personal self and base of operations. You may see yourself considering a change of residence or move of some sort as you identify how it might uplift and improve the quality of your life. Meanwhile, take good care of investments and pay attention to finances, especially where joint accounts and loans are concerned. Save rather than spend.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) Motivator Mars moves from air Aquarius into water-loving Pisces this week, shifting gears of action and mixing realism with ideanlsim regarding personal goals and achievementss. Weeks of philanthropy and spiritual generosity fueled by hope and optimism morph into imperatives for practical action and focused attention. Of course, compassion for self is the key ingredient for success. Take it one day at a time.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) With several years of ups and downs, trials and tribulations, ends and new beginnings, 2015 promises patterns of solid progress in the areas of commerce, communication and education. It’s a great time to expand your mental and spiritual horizons, examine your overall health quotient and identify what needs bolstering and improvement. Diet and exercise, meditation and prayer. Take good care of that beautiful body and soul!
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) 2015 begins with generous giant Jupiter retrograde in Leo, awarding you with the golden opportunity to take another look at what you’ve done over the last year, how you’ve done it, and how you might improve or positively amend it for the better. This is a precious period of time when the world and cosmos embrace your unique gifts and goodness, favor spiritual expansion and overall success. Let your light shine.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) Guardian angels and benevolent spirits remain close at hand as the New Year begins. And the good news is that you can expect them to hang around for quite a while. 2015 puts the finishing touches on your last Virgo 12-year recurring Jupiter cycle, bringing happy closure to things started in 2003 and laying the groundwork for a big time of expansion and growth. Keep the faith, trust the truth and stay on the path.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) A rock and roll year of personal and relationship challenges, conflicts and awakenings comes to a close as 2014 rolls into 2015. Uranus/Pluto has forced you to face the truth in all its bounty, accept others as they are – not as you want or wish them to be – and understand the amazingly important part you play in creating the life you live and breathe each and every day. Be responsible; live free.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) As you stand upon the precipice of new hope and good faith, take a deep look down into the dark chasm of negative thinking and toxic feeling. Yes, it’s a scary place, a suck-hole of doubt, depression and despair. Living in regret of the past and in fear of the future is no way live. Good news is that you’ve already been there and have no desire to return. Follow the light, surround yourself with goodness and choose joy.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) Welcome to one of the most powerful years of your life. Gather your courage, strength and faith, count your blessings and go forth with gratitude, grace and humility. Serious Saturn, Master Teacher and Lord of Karma, has moved into Sagittarius for an extended stay. This is a time when you no longer buy into illusion, delusion and denial, but prefer the light of truth, no matter what. Follow the light.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) You may feel the wheels of the cosmos turning as the New Year opens the door on a year of strong spiritual truth and daily spiritual practice. You intuitively understand the need for and advantages of structure in all achievement and success. Plans and strategies, commitments and goals are essential to getting results. And yet, somehow, you also know you are ultimately not in control. Practice, surrender, live and let go.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Sweetness enhances you now, others love your love and feel the beauty of compassion flowing, heart and soul. You will never regret doing the kind thing, or helping others when they need help. Sorrow and suffering are as constant and joy and ecstasy, it is all part and parcel of this miraculous journey we call life. Share time with people you care for and give attention to what you value. Enjoy the joy.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) As planetary ruler Neptune continues its slow journey through Pisces, take a deep breath and relax. Worry and stress are bad for your health - in every way - and you know it! Trust and faith are allies on the road of happy destiny, and truth is the guiding light. Saturn’s recent entrance into Sagittarius – your solar 10th house of professional achievement – portends an important period of career restructure. Let it flow.

Time and Timelessness, Life and Death in 2015
It is New Year’s Day morning and I’m sitting at our dining room table watching the snow fall, trying to come up with appropriate words for the first Alacazem column of 2015. A fire burns and flames dance behind the glass doors of our new Jotul woodstove. The day is grey and it’s brutally cold outside. Inside work works just fine, but I don’t know what to write.
So, here I am, here we are, moving through the second decade of the 21st century, evolving as a species on an organically rich planet - in a galaxy, in a cosmos - through the illusive, invisible, ethereal, eternal mind-stuff we call time. And what is time?
If I had read the Special Collector’s Edition of Scientific American I bought myself for Christmas titled “A Matter of Time,” perhaps I might be able to answer my own question. But, I have not. Instead I can only quote the cover: “It begins, it ends, it’s real, it’s an illusion. It’s the ultimate paradox.” And a forever and always mystery, just like life and death.
Today, I know the calendar clock has moved along and it is time to start a new year. I also know that a very good, old friend of mine has “clocked out” – her time here on the physical earth-plane ended two days past. The Angel of Death has taken her to another world, another realm. And once again, the Great Mystery prevails. The miracle of life begins our journey toward life’s end. It's all a matter of time. And then what?
Time and timelessness; one second, one moment, one hour, one day at a time. We live our lives. Perhaps the most important question is “How do we choose to live our lives, one moment at a time?" I would like to end this rather mystical, metaphysical muse with a profoundly timeless message written on a closet wall at Fort Collins High School by my 18-year-old niece, Lise, now an angelic presence in the mysterious, mystical realm of spirit: “Live each and every moment of your precious life.”
Wishing all people and life upon this magical planet Earth an embracing, awakening, uplifting, enlightening journey in 2015. May we live each and every moment of our precious lives. Blessings and peace.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) The New Year brings a welcome shift from conservative, authoritarian Capricorn to unconventional, freedom-loving Aquarius. But, hold on, not so fast! Aquarius ruler Uranus has recently gone direct in Aries, giving you one last chance to get it right. Freedom and responsibility go hand in hand. You have been forced to face and change what needs to change. Practice the art of personal change.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) The Jan. 4th Cancer-Capricorn full Moon illuminates issues of nurturing and self-care in relation to professional goals and social responsibilities. You are seen as somewhat of a judge and jury when it comes to family, siblings and children. Meanwhile, you recognize the pitfalls of that position. You simply cannot control the world. As your spiritual awakening continues, practice the art of loving and letting go.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) You may find yourself playing the roles of caretaker and comforter, manager and organizer, lover and friend as the New Year begins. Nothing new, just more of it. And, of course, dealing with money issues – both yours and “theirs” – continues as a theme. Just focus on the facts and keep the emotions out of it, otherwise, expect a grand conflagration. Practice emotional detachment and good self-care.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) The January full Moon in Cancer shimmers silver light into your heart and soul, reminding you of all the good things you have to be thankful for. Life’s most simple pleasures – a warm fire, a cozy couch, a comfy bed – bring the greatest pleasures. And a brisk walk or ski across the meadow doesn’t hurt either. Cultivate the art of balance in your personal life and relationships. It’s all and equation. Do the math!
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) 2015 starts out with giant Jupiter – planet of jolly abundance, good luck and good cheer – retrograding back through Leo. As this transit lasts well into April, you might as well get in synch now and ride the happy retro-flow until then. The strategy: take care of what you’ve left undone, started and need to finish rather than starting anew. And with all the busy-ness and expansion, you have plenty to do!
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) Ruler Mercury and voluptuous Venus move from Capricorn into Aquarius this week, shifting mental and emotional gears in matters of love, money and health. The ongoing process of deep cleansing and purging of heart and soul continues, but the focus shifts. Guardian spirits and angelic forces surround you, but you must ask for their assistance and guidance to receive it. Open your eyes, ask for help, then do the work.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) A sense of purpose combines with feelings of new hope and fresh inspiration as the New Year begins. You understand the power of practice and are willing to do the work, now it’s time to organize and prioritize. Also be aware of other people’s needs and agendas, as they are more than happy to take up plenty of your time and energy. The bottom line: Focus on self-care and personal progress. It’s time to focus on you!
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) This week’s Cancer-Capricorn New Moon shines light upon what you think and how you communicate your feelings and ideas to others. A two-year period of pruning the bush in personal arenas and relationships has ended. Now you are being called to nurture and sustain what you have chosen to remain. Self-care and self-responsibility are imperative now and it’s all about inner work. Embrace the work.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) The way you do things, personal value systems and the way in which you choose to make a living have been radically revisioned and transformed over the last several years. Now that you understand the deeper workings of soul and spirit, isn’t it time to align head with heart and live free in the light of truth? Fellowships, brother and sisterhoods guide you with common goals and interests. Get out, connect and share.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) A big week in your annual birthday month presents itself with plenty of opportunity and good will. Others see you as competent, capable and responsible, willing to take charge and lead the way. If you feel ready to do it, go forth. Otherwise, take it easy and work on plans and strategies for the year ahead. Art and creativity are favored; tap the artist within and let visions and dreams inspire craft and creation.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) 2015 opens to a year of new vision and new hope as an illuminated spiritual path glimmers and shimmers before you. The choice is yours, take the high road of spirit and explore the ethers or stay on the one built with the rocks and dirt of the physical world? The last several years have forced you to open your mind and change the way you define reality. Now it’s time to live an awakened life, every day, in every way.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) As the Capricorn month initiates winter and the New Year unfolds, the Fish are swimming in an ocean of friendship and camaraderie, connecting with people of like mind and spirit, following their hearts to lands of inspiration and new hope. And with so much suffering, inequity and war in the world, you are a shining light. What can you do but live a healthy, happy life and be the change you want the world to be? That’s it!

Capricorn Solstice, Christmas, Practice and Father Time
As December Solstice celebrates the returning light of the Sun – and the year’s shortest day and longest night - it also marks the first day of winter in the Northern Hemisphere. It’s a day of endings and new beginnings, a time to take stock of where we’ve been and where we are going. As crystalline ice and dancing snow replace the tawny auburns and burning golds of autumn, we journey inward. Crackling fires and cozy quilts become allies in the battle against the frigid, freezing, life-threatening cold of Old Man Winter. Instinctively, we know it is time to conserve resources and utilize our talents for survival, even in this waste-happy land we call America. And, so here we are, on the heels of an auspicious solstice new Moon in the first degree of Capricorn, embarking upon the journey.
Winter Solstice, Christmas and New Year’s are the trappings of Capricorn, the 10th sign of the tropical zodiac and the last, therefore most “evolved” earth sign. It is here we get serious, look at our lives and ourselves realistically and commit to plans of positive, productive change. Ambition becomes action. Goals are set and strategies planned. And as the astrological wheel turns, Capricorn earth energy demands material evidence and physical manifestation of our work and effort. So…here we go.
I find the natural year and natural zodiac wild and magical, stunning and inspiring. Everywhere, on every day I am here on Earth, I see signs and omens; clues to what is coming, what to watch for, what I might do to prepare for the inevitable, ever-evolving, flowing Great Mystery of Life and Death. All I have to do is relax and take pause, for a few seconds or minutes of the illusion we call Time, and really stop to see and feel Mother Nature, look for Old Man Winter, listen to the wind, watch the clouds and touch the ground upon which I walk. And as funny as that may seem, in my everyday ordinary humanness, it simply is not that easy to do. But, here’s to one of Capricorn’s favorite beings and doings: practice. Yes, practice, a golden key and daily task, the platform upon which we build a happy, healthy life. During this very fortuitous Capricorn zodiac month, may we all find our best, most propitious, prodcutive practice. Feliz Navidad y Prospero Ano Nuevo. Paz, Amor y Practica!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) The task of Capricorn is the development of responsibility, resourcefulness and integrity, as well as the ability to set realistic goals and boundaries. Pluto’s ongoing transit through Capricorn in square aspect to Aries continues to flush out the shadow side of the victim-tyrant polarity and force you to work on issues of self-control, self-indulgence and self-denial. It all comes down to daily practice. Practice!
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) As the Sun creeps through the first degrees of Capricorn on it’s annual journey north to summer solstice, the high road of spirit beckons. Recent events and conversations have evoked memories and stimulated feelings that compel exploration. As a down-to-earth pragmatist, you naturally focus on facts and logic rather than metaphysics and magic. And so be it. But curiosity fuels discovery and after all, you like to learn.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) The urge to take action accelerates with Uranus now direct in Aries and it’s like a green light, a signal to step on the gas. Coupled with the sixth of seven exact Uranus-Pluto squares at the Gemini full Moon, you may feel like a wild animal in a cage or radical revolutionary in the proverbial box. Big breakthroughs, breakouts and breakdowns are possible so remain grounded, centered and flexible. One step at a time.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) The advent of a Capricorn new Moon on winter solstice set the stage for a power-packed lunar month of returning light and illumination regarding your personal roles and responsibilities in relationships. Ongoing awakening and structural change continue as themes in the breakdown, demolition and reconstruction of the primary foundations of your life. Use good, strong, solid materials as you build.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) Saturn, Master Teacher and Lord of Karma, entered fellow fire-sign Sagittarius on Dec. 23, 2014 and opened the door on two years of reconstruction regarding love, money and romance. Saturn is always a transit of maturation, where we face reality and accept responsibility for our lives and ourselves. Dysfunctional and destructive patterns, relationships and behaviors come under fire. Don’t worry, it’s all for the best.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) The last week of 2014 is upon us and it’s time to do a little reflection and review. Good news is that the stars are lining up in your favor, and things are looking up. You have come a great distance over the last several years, danced with the devil, battled with demons and tested the waters of self-acceptance and self-discipline. Now you feel the positive effects of personal change. Congratulations. Stay on the path.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) With Christmas past and 2015 fast approaching, take a deep breath and find a quiet space to relax and consider who, where and what you are [doing] today. Creative work and personally enriching accomplishment are always a priority, running a close second to inner peace. Long-term, ongoing cardinal squares have tested your tenacity and grace. Now that you know more of what you want, keep the faith and adjust the pace.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) Winding down, slowing the pace and adjusting to the advent of the New Year cools jets and reminds you life is an eternally, evolving wheel of exploration, emotion and experience. Wise beyond your years, there are times you have little patience for the failures and foibles of others. Of course, you understand no one is perfect – not even you. Cultivate compassion, accept it all as exactly as it is in this moment and live free.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) With the Sun and new Moon in Capricorn, along with Mercury, Vesta, Pluto and Venus, the imperative for personal responsibility, self-discipline and integrity is at a peak. As the stars and planets shimmer and shine, embrace the wisdom of the ages and accept rather than resist. Struggling against the moment is like struggling against the entire Universe. You will not win. Smile and be happy. You are here.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) As the Capricorn birthday month progresses, count your blessings and embrace the magic grace of gratitude. Even though the world may be in one of the most dramatic, shocking, upsetting times in human history, there is always meaning behind the madness. Chaos is ultimately creative and the function in the politics of polarity is balance. You have plenty of job responsibility already. Take it easy and accept what is.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Wild, radical revolutionary Uranus – your ruling planet – has been upsetting the apple cart and shocking the world with outrageous killings, bombings and inequities for reasons of insanity. It’s all about awakening the individual and the masses to truth, what’s really happening, what fuels the demon, what needs to change – NOW! As an agent of enlightened change, stay the course and lead by example. Good luck!
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) A pack of planets in Capricorn pushes you out into the world of common interest and goals, shared vision and hopes for the future. It’s a rather global objective, but the action begins at home, inside your heart and soul. Something is pushing and pulling you, something big and mysterious. It’s as if a force of nature or mystical spirit is calling you to action. Relax in the glow, let it flow and trust the message.

Visible planets: Morning: Jupiter, Saturn Evening: Venus, Mars
Winter Solstice and the Holiday Season of Light
The Season of Light takes place each year when the nights are longest and darkness reigns. It’s a time to acknowledge the retreat of the Sun and celebrate its return on winter solstice, the day our central star has reached its southernmost point on Earth’s visible horizon and appears to stop. On the day prior to solstice, the day of solstice and the day following solstice, the Sun appears to stand still. Thus the name solstice, which comes from the Latin words for "sun" [sol] and "stand still" [status, pp. of sistere] which translates as "come to a stop." On the fourth day, the Sun reverses direction and begins its long, six-month journey north to summer solstice. With this reversal, the length of daylight gradually increases and nights start to shorten.
The seasonal significance of cultural importance of winter solstice throughout history has varied from culture to culture and civilization to civilization. Rituals, gatherings, festivals, holidays and celebrations of rebirth and returning light – in honor of and homage to the Sun – were and continue to be universal. In America, Winter Solstice is overshadowed by Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa - a.k.a. the politically correct “Holidays” – and everywhere we see holiday lights.
So, here we are, approaching Winter Solstice; lighting candles and – whether we know it or not – honoring the return of the Sun. Merry Christmas, Happpy Hanukkah and Blessed Kwanzaa. May your days be merry, your nights bright and your hearts filled with joy. Peace on Earth and Good Will to All…
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) Love and money planet Venus squares Uranus in Aries and pairs up with Pluto in Capricorn the day prior to Winter Solstice, reminding you to stay calm and cultivate patience in both romance and finance. Illusions no longer hold up to the cold, hard facts of life, and for once you know that’s good. Solid foundations built on trust, honesty and integrity are essential to good relationships. Smile and be sweet, after all, why not?
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) Voluptuous Venus, planetary ruler of both Taurus and Libra, dances with the big boys and comes out on top this week. Good news for the Bull. Philanthropic efforts and good intentions pave the way to a tremendously rewarding week. Spiritual awakening holds hands with practical action as you see the right-here-and-now results of your personal generosity regarding people you have helped. Good work!
Gemini (May 20-June 20) Planetary shifts and shimmers have you deeply involved with others, sharing intimate moments and feeling strong emotions. Life and death are themes as you gaze into the crystalline window of human suffering, joy and ecstasy. You also see the brilliant, shining light of hopes and dreams, friends and comrades as you journey the path of heart. Celebrate the light with light, feel the gratitude and chose joy.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) Uranus, the Great Awakener, resumes forward motion as the Sun enters Capricorn on Winter Solstice, making this week one of great significance and renewed hope. The major shifts and adjustments you have had to make regarding family, home, partnership and career are now in place, and you can see that it’s good. Count your blessings and say your prayers as Santa shines his light on love. Merry, merry!
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) A very merry Christmas and blessed Winter Solstice come knocking at your door as planetary shifts reward you with an abundance of gifts and gold this year. All the busy-ness and over-the-top work and activity of last summer and fall morph into a slower pace, lighting the way with inner peace, love and grace. Open your heart, count your blessings and embrace the holiday spirit. Romance sparkles; life is good.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) The whirlwinds of challenge and change mellow and morph as the glisten and glow of Christmas connects you with the real beauty and meaning of holiday giving and receiving. The greatest gifts are those of the heart, time and attention included. Share your love with the ones you love, focusing on what’s good. Refrain from coerced commercial spending and relax. Light the lights and share the beauty.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) As Winter Solstice marks the end of decreasing light, celebrate the return of the Sun. Honoring the natural world in all its beauty and bounty calms inner storms and connects you with what’s really going on – inside and out. Strong Capricorn energy encourages time at home and work within. Find your center of self as the holidays glisten and glow. The happier and healthier you are, the better you are in and for the world.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) Master Teacher Saturn leaves Scorpio and enters neighboring Sagittarius this week, ending a 2-year period of serious karmic lessons and learning. This time has not been easy. Saturn forces us to drop illusion and see ourselves realistically, identify what needs to end and then get to work. Discipline and responsibility are key. Loss is common. But now, it’s time to utilize what you have learned and move forward. Go forth.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) Solstice and Christmas celebrate the season of returning light, and this week it’s all about doing just that. Capricorn energy encourages temperance and practical, realistic thinking and action. And add to that, the entrance of Taskmaster Saturn in to Sagittarius, portending a serious 2-year ride of work and achievement. Enjoy the holidays now and notice the subtle changes happening within. No worries, it’s all good.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) Velvet Venus in your sign embraces powerhouse Pluto and flirts with Uranus in a seductive dance of attraction and excitement. You may feel somewhat challenged or conflicted, but confident when it comes to what you want. A detached, philanthropic, humanitarian approach is best. Freedom as a spiritual dictum, live and let live. Solstice marks the beginning of your new solar year. Happy birthday month!
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) With motivator Mars now marching through Aquarius, you may feel more energized and ready to work on personal projects and agendas than you have in months. The good news is that you are truly capable of getting it done now. Channel energy in positive directions, get plenty of exercise and stay active. Guardian angels arrive with Christmas bounty and beauty. Enjoy the gifts and share the wealth. Lucky you!
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) A bounty of Capricorn energy encourages gatherings with friends and interactions with others in general. You may find yourself strongly attracted to people you don’t know, but share common interest. Get out and immerse yourself in the holiday swirl. Do something unconventional, give to those less fortunate and honor the true meaning of peace on earth, good will to men, and of course, women!

The 6th of 7 Exact Uranus-Pluto Squares 2012-2015
Here we are, December 11, 2014. The world turns on its axis and revolves around the Sun, each revolution taking a little more than 365 days. From space the Earth looks like a giant Christmas ball hanging in a sea of twinkling lights. At night, we see bright patterns of electric light illuminating cities and settlements around the globe, the power pulse of civilization. By day, we see a beautiful blue planet, painted with shades of green, brown, orange and wispy white.
At times I imagine the daunting, infinite, ever-expanding cosmos and see our relative insignificance in it all. At other times, the cosmos itself seems insignificant, and I experience my human life and time here on Earth as all-consuming. I often feel that I am my own center of the Universe - with people and places orbiting around me - and yet I know that is far from Truth.
Spats with spouses, family feuds and failed friendships are part and parcel of life. So are wildly exciting times, ecstatic experiences, loving relationships and miraculous periods of blissful inner peace. Gratitude is the path to grace and humility reminds us of our humanness. We all struggle and suffer, win and lose, seek and discover, live and learn as the winding road of life takes us each on our own, individual journey. Destiny and fate, luck and chance challenge us along the way. We come and go in a wink, and ultimately, it’s all a Great Mystery.
This week, on December 14th @ 11:13 pm MST, we experience the sixth of seven exact Uranus-Pluto squares that take place between June 2012 to March 2015. Uranus is the planet of revolutionary uprising, freedom and cataclysmic change. Pluto is the planet of evolutionary, metamorphic transformation. Uranus is sudden, rapid-fire and radical while Pluto is seething, secretive, ruthless and supreme. Both are extreme. When Uranus and Pluto come in contact, the effects are shocking, unpredictable, deeply emotional and psychologically intense. It’s a war dance between the ego and the soul, the personal and the global, the individual and the masses.
Bottom line: We can expect personal epiphanies and collective catharsis as an ongoing process of evolutionary change – of course we are already seeing and feeling it internally and externally everywhere and in everyone – as we awaken to our own inner self and soul in light of the Power that ultimately rules the world and cosmos. Life and death, gives and takes away, destroys and creates.
Blessings and peace. May we find a path of light in the darkest night, a shelter in the storm. Buena suerte y vaya con la diosa.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) As Venus enters Capricorn you may feel a bit more serious and practical about financial spending and indulgence in general. Can it be true that you are growing older and wiser? Aries loves a thrill, however! These last few years of Uranus in your sign has taught you the value of restraint and perseverance, doing the next right thing and reaping the rewards of good, grounded behavior. Keep it up!
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) With the new addition of ginormous Jupiter retrograde in Leo – your solar 4th house of home and family – you may find great pleasure and reward very close to home. Returning to an old state of being or getting together with friends and people from the past expands your world and opens your heart. Take a good look around you and see the light of love and joy all around you. Stay the course, follow your heart.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) The big news this week comes by way of the sixth of seven exact Uranus-Pluto squares. Hold on to your hats and let the winds of changes blow out w old and bring in the new. No doubt it is challenging to accept dramatic, revolutionary change. However, change is the only constant and making peace with the rolling – and sometimes raging – river is where it’s at. Embrace spirit and let the love flow.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) A powerful shift of the ages is taking place, no matter how major or subtle the tremors. Still water runs deep and ripples on the surface often indicate great movement below. Keep your eyes on the changing winds and rising tides. This week is packed with power and potential for breakthrough. Identify what you need to purge and let go of in order to fulfill deeper desires. And then make a practice of letting it go.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) Giant planet Jupiter goes retrograde in Leo this week, awarding you with the fabulous opportunity to rethink and review actions and behaviors over the last several months. As you continue to expand and grow into bigger shoes and bank accounts, remember the art of conservation and focus. Planetary powers support and encourage self-responsibility, independence and self-discipline. Keep it up.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) As the world turns, your life is gradually shape-shifting into a new normal. Years of struggle, confusion and questioning yourself and your actions are coming to a close. A shimmering, sparkling road lies ahead and all you need is a positive attitude combined with a daily spiritual practice of good intention and right action. This week, watch the stars shake and lions roar as cosmic consciousness awakens. Have fun!
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) The challenges and changes that have come to you via others – their struggles and strife rather than your own - over the last few years comes into sharp focus this week as the sixth of seven exact Uranus-Pluto squares brings you face to face with themes and issues of personal freedom, responsibility and acceptance. Let go of attempting to “help” others become how or who you want them to be. Just live free.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) Planetary shifts from Sagittarius into Capricorn dampen the fire and settle the flame to a more consistent, conservative glow. As the holiday season marches on, you may feel a strong desire to communicate thoughts and ideas. Others may agree or disagree with you, but neither one matters. It’s all about sharing, listening, thinking and processing. Enlightenment comes via relaxing in the moment. Go for it.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) Ruler Jupiter goes retrograde in fellow fire-sign Leo this week, slowing the pace and turning you toward the home and comfort of spirit. Heartfelt emotions emerge in tandem with rising global tides as you awaken to the true interconnectedness of all beings and life on Earth. You can see and feel the pulse of the cosmos; stars shimmer and sunsets embrace you with their beauty. Gratitude is the road to grace. Be graceful.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) Rodeo rides and rising tides come to those who follow the road less traveled. Always one to stay on the more conservative, tested and trialed path, the radical twists and turns of the last few years have taught you how to navigate even the roughest of roads. Now schooled and skilled, you are prepared to win the race and reap the benefits of your efforts. Stay the course, keep the pace and rest when you need to.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Destinations reached and responsibilities fulfilled, you may find yourself upon the brink of a new and exciting season of possibility and potential. Your mind is full of ideas while your heart is filled with gratitude. Humility and compassion are strong and trusted allies now, make sure you don’t leave them behind as you ride that high horse to your dreams. Use spirit as a guide as you travel, it will never let you down.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) A happy, humanitarian approach to your closest relatives and relationships this holiday season aids and assists you in everything you do. Others find your cheery disposition and warm heart deeply comforting and downright profound. Using this on even those who annoy you is amazing; it’s a magic wand of joy and grace. Also know that you are highly talented and skilled here. Share the bounty and beauty.

"The Hands Up, Don't Shoot" Mantra of Uranus-Pluto
“Hands Up, Don’t Shoot!” might be the most appropriate mantra for the current and sixth exact Uranus-Pluto square in orb this month. With the “trend” of killings between law enforcement “peace” officers or independent white male vigilantes and young – and apparently not so young – black men, I can’t help but be reminded of the civil rights issues that exploded during the Uranus-Pluto conjunction in the turbulent, game-changing ‘60’s.
In astrological circles we work with aspects and angles, archetypes and ages. Geometry and history are the tools we use to interpret and translate the cycles, eons and eras of our time here on Earth. Our solar system is like an enormous cosmic clock, geared with planets and asteroids, revolving around a central star, our Sun. And, of course, the Universe is something else entirely - mysterious, infinite and ever-expanding. We know little.
Slow-moving planets Uranus – with an 84-year orbit around the Sun – and Pluto – with an approximate 250-year orbit – come together in a conjunction aspect in irregular time cycles, due to the elliptical orbit of Pluto. And because of this orbital irregularity, these two planets also square each other in a similar, irregular pattern. The last time Pluto and Uranus formed a conjunction was in the mid-60’s. Move forward about 50 years and we experience Pluto and Uranus making seven exact squares during the period of time between June 2012 and March 2015.
Squares are tests of what began during the birthing energy of the conjunction. There is no question that the 60’s were a turbulent time of social change, accompanied by mass protests and occasional riots in the streets, peace and anti-war demonstrations, as well as growing fears over possible global conflicts and nuclear war. Hippies, free love, flower power, peace, women’s liberation and the back to nature movement also emerged at this time. Today we are testing all of these concepts and states of being - or not being. And once again, we see the Power of the Powerful 1% - governments and governing agencies, corporations, billionaires and the ruling class in general – coming in to conflict with the 99% of everyone else on planet Earth. How does the 60's slogan “Power to the People” work today?
And here we are, in America, rich - compared to the majority of people on the planet - and sassy, eating GMO foods in ignorance and a whole bunch of other things due to ignorance as well. I will do my best to live up to what I was awakened to in the 60’s. Here’s to peace, love and rock n’ roll!
p.s. There are a lot of awesome articles on the Internet regarding the history – observation and correlation – of Uranus-Pluto conjunctions, squares and oppositions. Here’s a lcool ink to get some good info - if you're interested - and finding out how it might affect your Sun-sign: www.uranus-pluto. [R]Evolution now!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) December stands as an enormous test for Aries of every stripe and color. The most impactful planetary square of the century so far – Uranus [Aries] square Pluto [Capricorn] – is virtually exact all month. The radical changes, death and rebirth process over the last several years has broken façades of denial, delusion and self-deception. Now it’s time to rebuild brick by golden brick. Leave the rubble behind.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) The Dec. 6th Gemini full Moon rises high above the snow and ice, shimmering down upon your life as you have created it. Personal responsibility – for your health, happiness, wealth and well-being - is a theme this week and month. Take a good, long look at where you find yourself today. Partnership issues have slowly improved. Focus on the positive aspects of it all, take the high road and choose joy.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) The December full Moon comes to fruition in your sign this week, shining silvery light upon the path you walk, how you talk and the way you rock. It’s almost like a performance, with you as the star. And good news, as the stars in the sky align with your personal role, you are uplifted, encouraged and enlightened. Service to others and service in general are themes. More good news: you feel blessed with grace to serve.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) The sixth of seven dynamic Uranus-Pluto squares takes place in mid-December. This marks another milestone and turning point for the world, and is especially significant for cardinal signs, of which Cancer is one. So, hold on tight to freedom and let go of what no longer serves you. This has been a long-term, ongoing process of facing fears, embracing courage and doing whatever it takes to move forward.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) A fortuitous fire-sign trine offsets December’s challenging cardinal square this month and sets the stage for one of the most dynamic, dramatic holiday seasons in years. Good news is your natural-born generosity of spirit and lion-hearted approach to life helps others move through sorrow, loneliness and difficulty that can pop up this time of year. Rise to the occasion, shine the light and keep your spirit bright.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) The December full Moon illuminates another major crossroads as mutable sign energy bounces off the Sun and dances with the stars. It’s all cosmic, whether we like it or not, and accepting that we are all – rocks and plants included - atomic particles and messengers of light puts us exactly where we need to be. That said, inner peace comes via acceptance and right action. Simply do the next right thing.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) You may feel the crunch of the ages and the turning of the cosmic wheel as December dynamics pushes and pulls you through magnificent highs and daunting downs, around blind corners and across shimmering, sparkling seas. It’s like a fairy tale of good and bad, magic and mystery, challenge and triumph. You are now being called to follow your destiny. Just be the brave, balanced, beautiful star you are.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) We have reached another critical collective turning point on planet Earth, and December 2014 stands as a wake-up call to humanity. As one who knows the value of commitment and perseverance, you may find yourself baffled by the irresponsibility of so many. Good, bad or ugly, you are here to lead by example, stay the course of light and find worthy comrades along the way. Onward Cosmic Traveler!
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) Starlight and moonlight bounces from here to there, round and about as the Archer soars above the mundane worlds of work and play. Cosmic rays encourage you to dialogue, brainstorm and envision new possibilities, as some may not be as creative, optimistic or ingenious as others. Don’t be surprised if you feel challenged or pulled in directions you’d rather not go. Responsibility is freedom; ride the wave of change.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) Strong Sagittarius energy, including a fortuitous fire-sign trine, coupled with the sixth of seven exact cardinal-sign Uranus-Pluto squares makes December a stellar month of forced awakening and enlightenment. The saying “ignorance is bliss” applies here, but it’s just no longer possible. Gather your courage and resources as you prepare for a major shift of consciousness and change of heart. Yes, you can.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Moving and grooving, resting and relaxing, December is full of it all. Lunar light and solar rays shine brilliant light into heart and soul, home and hearth, illuminating the people, places and things near and dear. By focusing on goodness, rather than the alternatives, you increase and amplify its existence. This is not denial, but rather like planting, nurturing and growing plants that feed and improve the world. Good luck.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Full Moons are fruitions and culminations, when the consequences of our choices become clear. It is here we must decide whether to carry on or change our course of action and operation. The Dec. 6th lunation takes place in the Gemini-Sagittarius polarity and serves as a point of awakening and illumination for the Fish. Look deeply into the chasms of light, see what you need to see and do what you need to do.

Thanksgivng Gratitude & Grace
Once upon a time, in America, Thanksgiving marked the beginning of the holiday season. Of course, that was long, long ago. Today, ghosts and goblins, witches and pumpkins, broomsticks and candlesticks put an end to summer and propel us into a virtual land of Christmas commercials and television ads, with images of Santa’s barn full of red and white Mercedes, Corona beaches with coco palms and Christmas lights, Black Fridays and everyone thinking about money and shopping.
But, thankfully, we still have Thanksgiving – in the middle – between Halloween and Christmas. It’s a time to take a deep breath and take note of where we are, where we’ve been and where we’re heading – inevitably toward Christmas and then, another New Year. But for now, we are here. Here on Earth, sharing the beauty and bounty, feeling gratitude and – if we are truly grateful – the miracle of grace.
Here's to a happy, healthy, joyous Thanksgiving. Peace, love and joy…
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) Thanksgiving is all about gratitude and there is plenty to be grateful for. The radical changes, sudden upsets and instability of the last several years have turned the wheel and put you on one new road after another. Wild, freedom-loving Uranus in Aries squaring “it’s my way or the highway” Pluto in “you have to follow the rules” Capricorn has forced more than one structural upheaval. Responsibility is liberty.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) You may see the light at the end of the tunnel where partners and partnership responsibilities are concerned, especially when it comes to personal time. Others are be coming more self-sufficient and less dependent; it’s time to give them room to grow. Venus in your solar 8th house of joint finance favors negotiation and settlement regarding investment. Relationship intimacy also improves. Be sweet.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) With ruler Mercury now in Sagittarius, your solar 7th house of relationships, you may find others suddenly wanting and willing to communicate, travel and learn with you. You may also discover great pleasure in companionship and camaraderie. Seek out people you admire and are attracted to. Good things come via sharing and pairing. Consider holiday plans and projects, make lists and identify what you want.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) Revolutionary, rebel-planet Uranus in mid-Aries squares power-obsessed Pluto in controlling Capricorn for the entire month of December, putting pressure on patience, pushing reform and demanding change. It’s sort of like one hand wants to hit the throttle while the other one wants to pull the brake. Balance is the key here, as well as self-nurturing. These are crazy, difficult times. Breathe deep, and relax.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) Thanksgiving grace comes via sharing wealth, loving life and counting blessings. And with generous, good-luck, good-fortune planet Jupiter moving into the third decant of Leo, you should have plenty to share. Smile and be happy, let your bountiful light shine upon those seeking illumination and lead by example. Life is not easy, and when things are good, it’s good to be good.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) Home is where the heart is. As the holiday season officially begins, take a good, long look around you. Guardian angels and angelic spirits continue to surround, guide and protect you. Look for signs and omens and keep the faith as you move ever closer to your upcoming August 2015 Jupiter return. You are now wrapping up a major 12-year cycle, ending what started in 2003. Mend fences and clean up messes.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) If you’ve been feeling the crunch of social pressure, professional responsibilities, relationship demands, family obligations and personal desires, blame it on the stars. Libras have worked hard in these areas for a couple of years, attempting to keep it all in balance. Sacrifice is a strong undercurrent in the river of life now and it may be difficult to maintain balance as you ride the waves. Do your best; let go of the rest.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) As birthday embers keep the heart and hearth warm, new flames flicker with awakened desire. Love planet Venus in your solar 2nd house of personal resource encourages self-fueled creative and romantic efforts and interests. If there is something you want, pursue it. If it’s someone you want to be with, show up and be sweet. You are coming the end of a long period of serious restructure. Be the best you can be.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) Happy birthdays continue as candles are lit and cakes are cut. Others find you unusually attractive now, don’t be surprised if you get everything you ask for. This is actually somewhat like the Midas touch, the world is your oyster; the Universe beckons you to create and manifest. Focus on responsible choices, cultivate patience and maintain momentum. Good things come to those who work for it. Keep the faith.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) As the world turns, Capricorns can see it turn. There is a wildly, wacky element of personal change and transformation happening as Uranus and Pluto form a rather stationery square throughout December 2014. It’s as if you are testing everything you’ve learned and experienced, cleaning the shaft from the grain, harvesting kernels of wisdom and saving seeds for your future gardens. Perseverance furthers.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) As November morphs into December and holiday bells deck the halls, smile and be happy for your great, good fortune. Take a look around and count your blessings, starting with your own life and consciousness. While you may travel a road less traveled, to the beat of a distant drum, you are metaphysically in synch with the universe, singing your heart song. Truth is your ally and justice your friend. Stay on the path.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Planetary shifts from Scorpio to Sagittarius put emphasis on heartfelt goals and illuminate many paths to personal success and achievement. The extreme busy-ness which you have been party to is all part of the plan. Visionary hopes and dreams squared off with reality as you redefined values and reassessed desires. Knowing what you want is the key to manifesting it. If you don’t know, keep the faith and enjoy the ride.
