Autumn/Summer Magic, Music and Magnetic Attraction
The last week of summer in southwestern Colorado is one of exquisite beauty and grace. The shift from hot days and warm evenings to cool, crisp mornings and chilly nights awakens instincts and stimulates desire. Pastoral lowlands transform from verdant greens to autumn blondes, rusty auburns and burnished golds. Up high, emerald aspen surrender to shades of vibrant yellow and crimson peach. It's magnificent and poignant, a time to embrace Mother Nature's magic and feel the powerful, metaphysical flow of seasonal change.
In Telluride, this week translates simply as Blues & Brews. Headliners include legendary master musician and mystical maverick Willie Nelson - the man and voice responsible for more than one ecstatic night in the 1970's Sheridan Bar - blues great Robert Cray and locals favorite Big Head Todd and the Monsters. The weather looks far from last year's perfect, but, c'est la vie, it's gotta be good, regardless. Whatever comes, it's time to gather the tarps and umbrellas, endure the rain and hope for rainbows. One never knows - everything's possible and anything can happen.
This Virgo/Libra cusp time of year is packed with potential and rich reward. The focus on work, service and self-improvement gradually morphs into something sweeter, more gentle and embracing. It's where and when we reach out to others, seek connection, look for companions, bridge the gap and cultivate mutual peace. Cooler temps encourage bonding, trigger romantic longing and instinctively push us toward relationship. And the brilliant, illuminating beauty of autumn/summer ignites the heart with passion and power - we feel and yearn for love. So, be happy, stay warm and enjoy the musical, magnetic magic of attraction!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) The last official week of summer and a waning Harvest Moon combine in a poignant sense of longing to belong. Recognize that emotions are like clouds, they come and go. Silver linings give way to shining sun. Today, its all about self-improvement, personal responsibility, honesty and integrity - virtue is its own reward. Simply do the next right thing.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) Strong desire, passion and attraction are themes in the ever-evolving wheel of life. Remaining open to others and yet centered in personal truth keeps you on the illuminated path of heart. We all struggle and some days feel better than others. With generous Jupiter retrograde in your sign, remember the magic of positive thinking. You are blessed.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) With voluptuous Venus now moving through your solar 5th house of love and creative expression, reawaken the romantic spirit that lives within your heart and soul. See the beauty, share the bounty and count your blessings as summer wanes and autumn beckons. Slumber and sleep, live and thrive - embrace the precious gift of life and enjoy the joy.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) Thoughts, perceptions and ideas manufacture emotions. For emotionally sensitive Moonchildren, thinking is a path to feeling and feelings fuel action. Deeds manifest destiny. For every action, there is a reaction. Karma is a process of living and being, planting and sowing. As you prepare instinctively for seasonal shift, listen to your heart.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) Motivational Mars moves into Leo this week and lights fires of action and passion for Lions. New paths and new directions beckon those willing to explore new territory, both physically and spiritually. Exciting ideas stimulate fresh perceptions and you are blessed with the companionship of people willing to illuminate the path. Trust spirit and keep the faith.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) As the Virgo birthday month draws to a close, count your blessings, gather your resources and prepare for the road ahead. A full and grateful heart leaves little room for self-pity, doubt or fear. Recognize the difference between what you can change you! and what you cannot everyone else. Do your best to make home and heart happy and healthy.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) With love planet Venus in opposition to unpredictable Uranus this week, expect the unexpected when it comes to romance. You may find yourself surrounded by wild, exciting people or feel the pull of revolutionary energy and ideas. Whatever the manifestation, cultivate the wisdom of uncertainty and remain open to whatever comes your way. Have fun!
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) With Venus now transiting your solar 12th house of forgiveness and compassion, open your heart to both. Being kind and gentle to yourself and others opens the golden doors of happiness and well-being. Self-love and self-acceptance are keys to physical, spiritual, emotional and psychological wellness. Be the doctor and take the medicine. Be well!
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) You may feel a subtle shift from lots of attention to less attention as the Sun moves through the last degrees of your solar 10th house of social recognition and professional direction. The focus on performance and achievement wanes as you clarify career goals and intentions. Surround yourself with people you admire and respect. Trust the cosmic flow.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) As you approach the advent of autumn, you may see and feel the forces of the ever-revolving cosmic wheel. Changing colors and morphing landscapes awaken you to internal clockwork, stimulating action and fueling desire. Focus on daily productivity as you make lists and identify goals. Knowing what you want is the key to manifestation. Good luck!
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Take a good look at where you've been and what you've focused upon over the last several weeks. The commitments and conditions of your financial and psychological life have no doubt demanded your attention and time. Rather than get enmeshed in what you don't like, focus on whats good. Rise above and see the bigger picture. Take the high road.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) As summer ends and the first yellow leaves of autumn appear, take stock of your most committed, long-term relationships. Who and what is important to you, right here, right now? As always, identify your personal part in every play. What have you done and what are you doing to make things the way they are? Relax and do the best to be your best.

The Medicine and Magic of the September Full Harvest Moon
Golden grasses, heavy with seed, bend and sway in the slanting sun. Fields are painted with swirling colors of autumn blonde, brown and green. Sweet peaches are on the table and crisp red apples hang in clusters on the trees. Tomatoes ripen on the vine, peppers are picked and pickles are pickled. Nights are noticeably cooler and the days, while still lusciously warm, are touched with the magical, transformational hand of Indian Summer.
As Autumn Equinox approaches, the Virgo lunar month gifts us with the fruition of the Harvest Moon, one of the most magnificently beautiful and bountiful full Moons of the year. It's a time to take pause, to be thankful and grateful, count our blessings and say our prayers. Virgo is all about health and healing, daily practice and self-improvement. It's about work and service, being helpful and assistful, cultivating humility and making our world a better place in which to live and thrive. The vestal Virgin, the goddess of the harvest, medicine women, healers and herbalists, dieticians and exercise gurus come together under the Virgo mantle. And when the Moon grows full under the Virgo sun, we feel the earthy, medicinal power of the Mother Earth in all her harvest glory, coupled with the transcendental power of spirit - the divine cosmic will to which we must all ultimately surrender.
The Virgo/Pisces full Harvest Moon illuminates two opposite but complementary energies that wrap themselves around each other like a genetic double helix. Somewhat like a teeter-totter, they are inherently intertwined as balancing expressions of the same pole. Logic and imagination, discernment and acceptance, effort and faith are just a few of the polarities associated with the 6th and 12th signs of the tropical zodiac. And this week, we shall experience the full range of the this polarity as the Pisces Moon moves into the exact opposition aspect of the Virgo Sun, which takes place on Sept. 12th @ 3:27 am MDT.
May you experience both the magic and the medicine. Happy Harvest Moon.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) Lunar light shines upon themes of Pisces/Virgo as the full Harvest Moon comes to fruition Sept. 12th. Balance analysis with acceptance, effort with faith and logic with intuition. Life is a magical, mystical journey in which we are rewarded according to our actions. It's truly a yin and yang process of reaping what we sow. Cultivate a happy, healthy garden.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) The flexible, mutable quality of this week's full Harvest Moon may have you seeking stability or looking for shelter in the storm. Clouds gather, the earth shakes and thunder roars. Lightening gives birth to rain, the sun gives birth to rainbows. No matter what the scene or situation, listen to your heart. Trust truth, see beauty and cultivate inner goodness.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) Evolution is a process of becoming and the evolutionary intention of these times is powerful and profound. Look amidst the chaos and confusion for the illuminating light of spirit as it leads you through forests of darkness and doubt. It all comes down to choice: faith or fear, outrage or acceptance, hubris or humility. Surrender to goodness.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) The metamorphic quality of mutable full Moons gives birth to mystical prophecies and magical beings. Shamans and shape-shifters, witches and fairies, saints and angels gather at harvest to celebrate the beauty and bounty of the Mother Earth. Breathe deep, count your blessings and open to abundance. Cultivate attitudes of gratitude, travel above and beyond.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) You may feel the strong pull of self-will or a powerful sense of self-determination as the Moon grows full. Temper desires to control or dictate with the practice of acceptance and the art of compassion. Recognize your part in every play and be responsible for your actions, words and deeds. Whatever happens, make it better, not worse.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) This week's Harvest Moon shines light upon your most important personal relationships, including the one you have with yourself. Good self-esteem comes from doing things that make you feel good about you. Good relationships are built with honesty, respect and integrity. Show up for yourself and others - clean and sober, happy and healthy - one day and minute at a time.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) The Virgo/Pisces polarity falls on your solar 6th and 12th house axis, which translates as a place of inherent opposition and ultimate balance between the physical and spiritual worlds. Pay attention to internal dialogues, perceptual realities and behavioral reactions to external stimuli. Forgiveness, compassion and prayer are allies, anger and self-pity are not.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) The annual Harvest Moon is an exciting and intriguing lunation for Scorpions. The poignant pull of impending autumn stirs the soul and stimulates the spirits. Seek like-minded companions with which to celebrate the changing seasons. Focus on the freedom of honesty and the liberation of responsibility. Hope, dream and play for the collective good.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) Looking for love? Wherever you go - close at home, or out and about - there you are! Don't be surprised if lovely ladies or macho men come knocking at your door or appear magically in front of you at work or play. There is something unusually attractive about your energy these days - the power of the positive and the joy of faith - just be authentically you.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) As powerful Pluto stations in your sign, and prepares to move forward, pay close attention to any potentially obsessive or compulsive behaviors that could turn the corner to addiction. This is a time of great personal transformation, when you can see darkness and have both the courage and ability to bring it to light. Be brave, be bold and be willing. Do it right.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) You may feel strongly motivated and clear about what you want and what is right - for you. As you take the wheel, consider the journey. Are you prepared with maps, information and supplies? Aired the tires, checked the oil and fueled the tank? At the end of the day, it's totally up to you. Accept responsibility for your status and leave the rest to you-know-who!
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Congratulations on another milestone in interactive self-realization. The part you play, the things you say, the way you behave when you find yourself sharing and pairing - committed or non-committed - comes to light this week. What do you see reflected in the mirror of your relationships? What are you seeking? Enjoy the beauty, live the joy.

Labor Day Purple, Peach and End-of-Summer Harvest
The time has come to say good-bye to summer. Sad as it seems, and reluctant as I am to write these words, August has ended. It is now September. This coming Monday is Labor Day, the traditional end-of-summer holiday. This translates as film festival time in Telluride - historically the town's first and arguably most prestigious festival of the year. Hollywood affecionados, movie buffs and critics, editors, actors, directors and producers gather in one of the most dramatically beautiful geographical corners of the world - stunning flora, iconic waterfalls, magnificent mountains, majestic wildlife and shimmering rainbows - all a backdrop for fairytale perfect Victorian architecture, state-of-the-art cinema and a lot of people dressed in black. For many years I've watched the crowds and observed the magic. Welcome to TFF #38!
In my youth, Labor Day meant back to school - back to structure and a daily schedule, classrooms and classmates, students, teachers and books. It also meant football games and the brilliant days of Indian Summer, notebooks full of clean white paper and the dreamy, inspirational possibilities of young romantic love and scholastic achievement.
Today, Labor Day weekend 2011, I find myself in the rugged, wild west end of San Miguel County. I feel the vibrations and intuit the pull of seasonal change. Transforming landscapes and shifting breezes call to harvest and beckon spirit. A slender crescent Moon hangs gracefully above the western horizon in turquoise twilight, shades of purple and peach kiss the day goodbye.
Good luck, be safe and have a fabulous, fantastic Labor Day week. Here's to the fruits of your labors! God bless...
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) Greatest gains come to those who accept total responsibility for the current conditions of their life and relationships. Solar trines to expansive Jupiter and evolutionary Pluto open doors of psychological transformation and spiritual growth. Self-honesty leads to self-awareness, awareness to understanding and understanding to positive change. It's up to you.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) Jupiter retrograde in your sign may have you walking down memory lane, reliving the past or yearning for times of youthful idealism and innocence. This trend is all about revitalizing the present, cultivating personal goodness and embracing the divine inside and out. Follow your inner truth and travel the golden path of heart.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) Mental and emotional confusion clarify as Mercury resumes forward motion in your solar 3rd house of thoughts and communication. Sibling relationships and educational venues take center stage as the school year begins. Calm, diplomatic behaviors work well now. Focus on the goodness in yourself and others while staying true to heart and pure of spirit.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) Plans and strategies of self-sufficiency and overall efficiency work modern miracles this week. Recognize the power of personal choice and know that action counts. Truth and honesty are the foundation stones of trust and faith. Justice comes regardless of whether we seek it, karma prevails in everything we do and say. Clear the land and build the castle.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) Magical, medicinal, mental Mercury in your sign may have your head spinning with exciting plans or imaginative dreams. Whatever the manifestation, capitalize on a period of quick wit, good humor and clever ideas. Write, discuss, ask, listen, contemplate and share. Get out and about, explore the neighborhood and discover the bounty of home.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) Voluptuous Venus in Virgo shimmers love and beauty upon those who cultivate grace with gratitude and peace with acceptance. People are far from perfect and relationships are challenging. Success and failure are the opposite sides of the same coin, and of equal value. Relax and breathe, listen to and feel your heart. Life is a blessing, live it with joy.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) Solar rays shine light upon the golden path of spirit, illuminating the magical acts of compassion, loving-kindness and forgiveness. Surrender can feel like giving up or giving in, but its really a very powerful act of faith and trust. It takes a lot of courage to relinquish ego and attachment, but its ultimately the most self-nourishing thing one can do. Let go, let God.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) Mars in Cancer sparks your spiritual curiosity and propels you further and far closer to the glimmering glow of enlightened thinking and enhanced perceptual ability than you have ever been. Tap into higher consciousness and intuit emanations of Cosmic Mind, Heart and Soul. Enjoy the ride, see the beauty and feel the bounty. Touch the stars.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) Enticing professional possibilities and career rewards are favored this week as Venus dances through your solar 10th house of achievement and recognition. Also be on the lookout for attractive, seductive feminine influence or assistance; women and girls are out and about with plenty of love and beauty. Be honest, be sweet, be cool, be kind and show respect.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) Enjoy the relative peace and ease with which your personal world is turning this week in spite of the national, global calamity and chaos. Its all about acceptance, gratitude and grace, healthy boundaries and realistic goals. Back-to-school agendas and harvest themes abound. Do what you can, but let others take responsibility for themselves. Relax!
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Joining assets, doing business, closing deals and looking beneath the surface of the superficial are themes this week. Make sure to review contracts and make changes if necessary. Home improvement is favored this year - a patient, practical approach works best. Focus on quality rather than quantity and take your time. Enjoy your sense of place.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) You may find yourself wanting to connect with others this week as cosmic light shines upon the people and places you find attractive and seductive. This is a good week to enhance existing love relationships or discover new ones. Venus in your solar 7th house of pairing and sharing favors sweet romance, natural beauty and peaceful surroundings. Enjoy!

Virgo New Moon Paradigms of Practice, Progress and Perfection
"This months New Moon shifts attention from the creative fires of Leo to the earthy pragmatism of Virgo. The last Full Moon urged us to follow our heart and soul; this New Moon calls us to use our head and hands." - Stephanie Austin, The Mountain Astrologer, August/September Issue #158
The Virgo dilemma: Perfection is an ideal, rather than a reality. And practice is a means of manifesting dreams, visions and ideals. Is perfection then an attainable goal via practice?
Virgo is all about work and service, health and healing. Its function is to make the self and the world we live in better - moment by moment, day by day - by living a life of attention, sacrifice and humility. Order and organization, efficiency and productivity are avenues of progress in the Virgo journey; integrity, right action, virtue and purity are companions on the trail.
Back to school themes - supplies, clothes and books, schedules and daily routines, classrooms, learning, teachers, credits and merits - along with the bountiful season of harvest, color the Virgo zodiac month with shades of gold and green, red, purple and peach. We hearken upon the last weeks of summer and feel the poignant pull of autumn. Nights cool and days grow shorter. In the high country, leaves are starting to fall. In the lowlands, fruits and vegetables ripen, farmers cut hay and markets abound with the produce from days, weeks and months of hard work, cultivation and care. It's time for canning and drying, freezing and storing; making lists, discerning priorities and taking personal, physical, psychological, spiritual and material inventories.
As the Virgo New Moon of August 28th approaches, find the time to self-center and examine how you feel about your life and yourself. Focus on a healthy sense of self-worth and recognize the power of compassion. The more tolerant and understanding we are of ourselves, the more forgiving and tolerant we can be of others. Good self-esteem is the golden key to happiness and well being, and doing things that make us feel good about ourselves builds self-esteem. Virtue is its own reward and purification is a process. And in regard to the Virgo dilemma, remember that realistically - forever, now and always - it's ultimately all about progress, not perfection.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) This week's new Moon shifts the focus from Leo sentiment to Virgo pragmatism. Analysis, efficiency and service are allies as you take a more practical and less emotional approach to life. Cultivate humility, integrity and impeccability as you go about your daily round. Anger, arrogance and self-pity lead to resentment and self-defeat - don't eat the poison.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) Simply being who you are, living your personal truth and walking your talk are ways in which to harmonically ride the evolutionary tides of the cosmos this week. Tap into your heart, feel its power and follow its wisdom. Cultivate a healthy sense of self-worth, rather than an out-of-balance, inflated ego. Remember the power of compassion and be cool.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) The Virgo new Moon and fresh zodiac month call the Twins to action regarding personal self, home and family. Take a stroll down memory lane, revisit childhood haunts either physically or mentally and feel the feelings of youth. The more tolerant and understanding you are of yourself, the more forgiving and accepting you can be of others.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) Anxiety, guilt and self-doubt have no good place in the weeks mix of energies. If you happen to be experiencing a negative charge emotionally, step back and consider how you may be manufacturing your own misery. Acceptance and compassionate action are powerful tools in anyones spiritual toolbox. Pick them up and use them according to need.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) The solar shift from Leo to Virgo encourages less ego and more humility, acceptance instead of control and faith in place of fear. Personal responsibility and the practice of self-improvement work wonders. Modern miracles are everywhere, believing is seeing. Mercury in Leo gives you a chance to examine internal dialogues. Change what needs to be changed.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) A fresh lunar cycle in your sign heralds an annual cycle of personal emotional and spiritual rebirth. Embrace the cosmos in a celebration of love and life. Gratitude for what you have and what you dont have! is huge. Examine potential patterns of self-pity, self-doubt and self-destruction. Ask for guidance, strength and courage as you let go and let God.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) As the Sun and Moon conjoin in your solar 12th house of dissolution, mergence and transcendence, practice the art of surrender. Notice how resistance impedes the flow of life and stops spiritual growth. Is fear the ground upon which you are birthing demons? Trust and faith manifest via truth and honesty. Open to the joy of spirit and live in the light.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) A fresh new Moon in earthy Virgo supports your highest hopes and dreams. Imagine the world and people as you wish them to be and then go about living and becoming your ideal. Be the change you want to see in others and explore the magic of manifestation. Forgiveness is the golden key to health and happiness. Practice the art and experience progress.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) You may feel as if you have to perform or be on stage publicly for some reason or another. Release the stress and anxiety that comes from assumption and projection. Live expressly in the now, embrace the day and focus on the present moment. Take the high road whenever you have the opportunity. It leads in the right direction, plus the view is superb.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) The rustling of autumn comes with the first golden leaves and auburn fields. Nights are cooling and a touch of change is in the air. The slant and intensity of solar rays stimulates instinctive seasonal behaviors. You are a living, breathing part of the cosmic heart and soul, feel the power and explore the territory. Reach for the stars, travel the galaxy and enjoy the ride.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Feelings of disconnect or disharmony may have you wondering if you're going in the right direction. The medicine for confusion or anxiety is love and laughter, trust and faith. Do what you can to banish doubt, disorder and fear as you follow your heart and open to expanding possibilities. Proofread contracts and make sure they are correct before signing.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) The Sun's entrance in to Virgo marks the second half of your solar year and a time when the focus changes from self to others. You may feel like getting out and about, connecting with people you find attractive or actually considering a more serious commitment in a relationship. Whatever the manifestation, open your mind and heart to the world.

The Edge of Precipice Between the Natural and Virtual Worlds
Lately I've been noticing the radical edge of precipice where the natural world meets up with the one we have come to know as the virtual world. One we can touch, feel and smell, even eat. It sustains us physically and provides us with food, materials for shelter and clothing, gifts us with rain, sunsets and seasons. The other world we view with our eyes and experience with our brains. Via information, imagery and mental perception, we travel to places and spaces that could previously be accessed only through art, imagination or magic. Today it's the invisible land of business and commerce, social and professional networking, communication and education. The World Wide Web - the spiders web of Native American prophecies, the predicted Aquarian Age of information, technology and knowledge - all in a wink, all with a click. Evolution and revolution, together in the here and now, clashing and slashing in a contest of what's real and what is not.
As we move ever closer to December 21, 2012 - when the winter solstice Sun aligns exactly with the Galactic Center - we must breathe deeply and feel our humanness. We must truly touch our Mother Earth and thank her for our special lives upon this planet, count our blessings and feel the goodness and grace that come with gratitude. We are living in what the Mayans call the End Times, a powerful period of transition that offers humanity the opportunity to seed yet another world - the 5th World or Creation - when humankind is given the choice to live in peace, love and respect, humility, service and compassion or die in abuse, chaos, calamity and cataclysm. The bridge between Leo and Virgo this week is an excellent time to intuit the message, hear the music and heed the call. God bless and may the metaphysical cosmic world - the natural and the virtual - be your guide. Onward Cosmic Travelers!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) The last week of Mercury retrograde wraps up a period of memory and longing regarding love. You may have been yearning for romance, experiencing regret or wishing things were different, but - hard as it seems - everything is exactly as it is for good reason. Do your best to accept life on life's terms, focus on goodness and let go of the rest.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) As the Sun moves in to fellow earth-sign Virgo, prepare for a month of increasing creativity and romantically charged activity. The waning season of summer delivers bountiful harvests. Focus on gratitude and experience grace. Life is for living and its time to enjoy its most simple pleasures. Feel the beauty and love. You are blessed!
Gemini (May 21-June 21) Ruler Mercury polishes off three weeks of retrograde in fiery Leo via colorful mental images and dramatic displays of sentiment that serve to awaken past loves and passions. Perhaps it's time to remember your own inherent beauty, embrace personal creativity and re-awaken your heart. Seize the day, grasp the moment. Live in the ever-present now.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) Motivational Mars continues marching through your sign this week, fueling personal fires and stimulating action regarding self-interest and self-care. On the other hand, Mercury retrograde keeps you somewhat stuck in the past, especially when it comes to love and romance. Spirit has no timetable, relax and enjoy life. The river flows, go with the flow.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) The last week of zodiac Leo is upon us. Candles flicker and cakes are cut. Presents are opened, attention and affection abound. Embrace it all as special and unique, you are loved and appreciated, it's all good. Why then, do you find yourself feeling the lack or finding fault? Change the channel and find the beauty. Life is what you make it. See the power.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) Velvet Venus moves into Virgo this week, softening the hard edges on your heart and re-opening it to the abundant love and beauty surrounding you. Recognize how you may have shut out the sunlight of spirit and shunned others in your process of regeneration. Cocoons are magical wombs, and they give birth to butterflies. Its time for rebirth.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) Friendship action and social agendas continue, but amidst the gatherings you find yourself feeling that old familiar sense of poignant longing and nostalgia that comes with summer's end. As the seasons turn and life goes on, embrace your inner diva and divinity. Immerse yourself in natural beauty, feel the pulse, live in peace and embrace the grace.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) Social and professional obligations begin to ease as you experience the power of inspiration. Your natural desire to create is strong and you may find yourself seeking out others who are creators or artists. In all cases, pick and choose to be with those who uplift your spirit and fuel your heart. Be with people you want to be like and enjoy the happy results.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) Planetary shifts from Leo to Virgo encourage a more disciplined, focused approach to life and love. Embrace your inner authority and recognize the difference between what you can change or control and what you cannot. Other people are simply not on the list. Acceptance is the answer to all your problems today. Do what you can to change you and leave the rest.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) Nights cool and days soften as passionate Leo gives way to virtuous Virgo. The Mother Earth exhibits her powers of production and abundance in markets and gardens. Its time to gather food for harvest, put up store for winter and prepare for autumn. Look beyond the virtual to the actual. Touch and feel, explore and discover. Focus on growth.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Working with others together, hand in hand - sometimes down and dirty - is what this week and upcoming zodiac month is all about. Up close and personal, deep involvement romantically or financially, you find yourself facing demons and exposing doubts. Focus on self-truth, honesty and integrity in all your dealings. Otherwise, it won't work out. Do your best.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Passion and desire ignite as Mars moves through your solar 5th house of love and romance this week and zodiac month. Creative juices are flowing - its time to create! Paint, dance, sew - write down your dreams and visions - enjoy life. And be sure to have fun, whatever you do. Magnetic Venus pulls attractive others your way. Enjoy the heat!

The Full Moon Love and Joi de Vivre of Leo/Aquarius
There are two Leo/Aquarius full Moons each year - one when the Sun is in Leo (July/August) and one when the Sun is in Aquarius (January/February.) These lunations take place in the middle of summer and winter, respectively, when electromagnetic forces peak and seasonal energies surge. I often call these the two full Moons "party moons" because they are filled with the strong, passionate power of the Leo/Aquarius polarity - strength of heart in both the individual and collective psyche - and the manifestations are found in every home, brothel, bar and bedroom; on the street, in the country, on the field, in the garden, on the river, at the theatre, on the road and in the galleries. This is the time to celebrate life - in all its guts and glory - to love it like a lover and enjoy each and every precious moment of living and breathing here on our beautiful planet Earth.
Bottom line: Leo/Aquarius party moons are all about love. Whether its romantic, platonic, esthetic or cosmic; spiritual, physical, intellectual or emotional; devotional, rational or irrational, it all gets down to the love we have and the love we crave. Chase it, feel it, grieve it, imagine it - love fuels the holy fire of creation, awards us with the courage to explore and discover, expand our horizons and move ever forward. Simply put, love sustains life - it's all really we need - inside and out.
So, as the Moon comes to fruition on Saturday, August 13th at 12:57 pm, check it out. Can you feel the power of love in your heart? Do you have the courage to express it? Are you willing to embrace the beauty and bounty of life? Good luck, God bless, and enjoy the joi de vivre!
p.s. The hummingbird is the medicine animal of joy and love - notice how many are buzzing around you this weekend!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) Mercury retrograde in Leo translates as a time of sentimental nostalgia and heartfelt longing, no matter what your age, sex, economic class or color. Memories of childhood, first love and a yearning for true romance in the present stimulate your imagination. Enjoy the show, but temper fantasy with reality and stay connected to terra firma.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) A bright and brilliant Aquarius full Moon comes to fruition in opposition of the Sun, Venus and Mercury in Leo on Aug. 13th. With so much fixed-sign energy in the atmosphere, be aware of personal agendas and ego-fueled behaviors that may cause more pain than pleasure. With jovial Jupiter in Taurus, default to loving-kindness.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) Behaviors, thought patterns and personal projects you considered a part of the past may resurface this week as Mercury continues retrograde. Examine whatever presents itself and recognize the need to deal with it. Accept responsibility for your part in your relationships and do what you can to amend and make them better.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) An almost exact square of revolutionary Uranus to evolutionary Pluto marks a critical turning point regarding professional direction and relationship involvement. Balance is the key here, but you may be asked to end one segment or another to maintain spiritual equanimity and personal progress. Focus on truth and integrity.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) The Leo sun is sandwiched by Mercury and Venus as the Moon comes to fruition on Aug. 13th. This translates as a very busy time socially, romantically and financially. Speak your truth but utilize loving-kindness and compassion in the delivery. Communication and negotiation are favored, but realize its a step rather than a settlement.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) Relationship issues may feel painful, but the jewels in the treasure are opportunities to heal old wounds via faith and forgiveness. Self-nurture via right action and service rather than stay-on-the-couch self-pity and resentment. Guardian spirits and angelic forces surround you now. Make contact via meditation, inner peace and prayer.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) Cosmic tailwinds of evolutionary force increase, as a cardinal Grand Cross intensifies desires for self-determination and social reform. Passion and initiative necessitate greater self-control and more consideration for others. As you continue in the ongoing Saturn process of personal self restructure, focus on fixing you and you alone.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) To meet the challenges of these wild and crazy times, we must raise our sights and our consciousness. This weeks full Moon illuminates the archetypal truths of Leo and Aquarius we are all individuals, and we are all interconnected. Our unique sparks ignite the collective fire. By joining force, we can change the world. Be you together.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) We are being called upon to join the Aquarian Age, to be spiritual warriors and agents of change. Nothing is more up the Archers alley, so why not sign up and serve? Military life and world travel fit you fine, what gifts and visions can you bring to the table? Consider the ultimate cosmic picture and go forth, united in peace.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) Pluto in Capricorn tunes up to an exact square with Uranus in Aries this week and full Moon light shines upon your most difficult and challenging issues in relationship. Who can you trust? Who trusts you? Integrity and honesty are the building blocks of healthy, happy relationships. Work on making yours better and better.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Love planet Venus joins the Leo sun and aligns with Mercury as the full Moon and several celestial bodies in Aquarius oppose it. That said, prepare for a week of balancing romance with reason, reality with illusion and business with pleasure. Consider how your actions affect others and do no harm. Forgive the past, live in the present.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Great healing is on the Pisces agenda this week and upcoming year. Chiropractic Chiron in your sign portends several months of attention and action regarding personal and shared emotional pain. Pay attention to what comes to pass, how you feel and how others react to what you do and say. Once again, compassion is the key.

The Dancing Divas and Laughing Lions of Leo Mid-Summer
We experience the exact point of mid-summer on the cross-quarter day of August 7th this week, marking the halfway point between summer solstice and autumn equinox. This is when we notice the days are growing shorter, high country leaves begin to change and a wistful fragrance of summers end is in the air.
Here in the West End, emerald pastures are now touched with gold, tall grasses have gone to seed and fields lacking irrigation glow a bright platinum blonde. Azure bluebirds feast on fluttering butterflies and hummingbirds suck nectar from wherever they can find it. Cumulous clouds tower above deep blue horizons and snowfields still dot the mountain peaks. Brilliant yellow sunflowers sway in the breeze, tomatoes ripen, zinnias blossom and roses bloom. Olathe sweet corn is on the table and Paonia peaches are approaching harvest. Fruit stands are popping up along the roadside, filled with melons, peppers and beans.
Mid-summer is quintessential Leo, full of passion and power, courage and heart. Its all about loving life, embracing it and living it to the max. Its hugging the ones we love, kissing babies and showing affection in general. Its the creative spark, the creative force and power of creation. Its the goddess within, dancing divas and magical beings, flamboyant fairies and laughing lions. Its imagination, art and romance. Its however, wherever and whenever we experience the primal power of our own life force, our individual connection to Creation - in all its mystery and magnificence - in the now, the burning fire of the present. For me, it's the eternal flame of love that is born in the heart and sustains life - life after life, love after love. May you walk in the boundless mid-summer beauty of Leo and live with the loving heart of the generous, courageous Lion. Happy, happy...love and life.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) Ruler Mars enters sensitive Cancer this week, curbing impulse and reducing anger. Watch for passive-aggressive behaviors and avoid them. Its best to let others know how you feel. If youre hurt, express it. If you feel love, express that too. Most of all, practice self-care via honesty, clarity and integrity. Rest and relax.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) You may feel a bit confused or unclear regarding what to do, what to think or what to say. Mercury retrograde in Virgo throws you back to times of love and romance, in your head and in your dreams. Fantasy has an important function, but it can also be a trap. Take a good look around, see the beauty in the now and embrace it.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) Ruler Mercury retrogrades from Virgo into Leo this week, flashing images of family, home and childhood across the screen. Mars in Cancer puts you behind the wheel when it comes to personal self-care and self-nurturing. Recognize your part in every play and understand the vibrant power of choice. Simply do your best.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) The Lion in charge encourages frolic and fun, but Mercury retrograde and Mars in Cancer favors a more cautious, careful approach to getting what you want. Pursue passions via sweet love and if you dont feel comfortable about taking action, be willing to let the mud settle until the water is clear. Simply do the next right thing.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) The cross-quarter days of mid-summer are here and Lions can feel the strong magnetic pull on the planet more than most. Embrace the power of the cosmos and let it infuse you with love and light. Challenge and change are constants in the evolutionary process, and while you are human, you are also divine. Be your best angelic self.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) Velvet Venus in your solar 12th house of divine light encourages forgiveness and making amends in relationships that may have become estranged or deranged. Matters of love and money top the list. Do what you can to calm the waters and heal the pain inside your heart via prayer, meditation and right action. Life is short, live it well.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) Interactions with friends and fellowships are favored as plenty of Leo light shines on your week. Get out and about; connect with people of like mind and spirit. Freedom is an essential ingredient in the recipe of a healthy relationship, and it comes via trust and honesty. Truthful and true, beautiful and bountiful - be you!
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) Social connections, professional activities and career concern are what mid-summer means to the Scorpion. Take action when it comes to spiritual exploration and discovery. See the ultimately divine or cosmic force behind each and every act and attention. Youre a powerful electromagnetic creation, spin with beauty and do no harm.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) Mercury retrograde takes you back to a place of fantasy and imagination, where you can visualize exactly what youd like to do and where you'd like to be. Pay attention to your creative visions, they hold the key to unlocking your heart and soul. Doing what you love is lifes most precious success. Enjoy the show and find the key.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) As motivational Mars moves into Cancer, your solar 7th house of other people and places, you may suddenly feel motivated to get out and about. At the same time, other people are contacting and/or pursuing you. Enjoy the action, but recognize the wisdom of trust and truth as you go about your daily round. Be true.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) You find great joy and pleasure via social and romantic interaction with others this week. This is a good time to make contact with people you think about but may not often see. Also favored are all types of settlement regarding misunderstandings and disputes. Its better to live in love than to stew in resentment. Step into the light.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Mid-summer magic comes to those who remain on task, improve the world and themselves by cultivating attitudes of love and forgiveness. As you go about your daily round, observe your thoughts and feelings. Are you critiquing others and finding fault? Focus on goodness, grace and gratitude and experience a new light and life.

2012 Mayan End Times: Hubris or Humility?
Ive been thinking about 2012. Its loaded, its wild, its awesome to know that theres a collective force at work the collective consciousness of an ancient prophecy coming to fruition - the long awaited Mayan end times.
I remember back to one day in the 90s before the millennium turn and the predicted chaos of Y2K when I was driving out of Telluride toward Lawson Hill with one of my editors. We were talking about how time seemed to have speeded up, how it felt as if the pavement beneath us was moving at a velocity much faster than the car traveling upon it. It was a kind of gravity free, out-of-body sensation, like flying through space at warp speed, meteors and galaxies whizzing by, living a dream.
And now, all in a wink, its 2011. Winter solstice December 21, 2012 - is fast approaching. Movies, books, articles and Internet posts abound. Media groups and networks cover actual and virtual manifestations of global climate change, social upheaval, religious wars, violence and cataclysmic disasters in general. Armageddon is no longer just a biblical term, its a household word. Day by day, we live and breathe, think and feel. We are humans upon this planet Earth. Reality is transforming, morphing metaphysically. Definitions of time and space shape-shift through galactic gateways, explode in quantum particles and re-form in an infinite eternity of shimmering possibilities and potential. Its mystery, magic and magnificence at its quintessential best.
To grasp the moment, seize the day and live in the now of these very exciting and at times unsettling times, we ride invisible waves, embrace changing tides and surf the cusp of the ages. Its all about true love and strength of heart Leo the Lions pride and glory. It takes tremendous courage and a wildly willing spirit to accept our ultimate powerlessness over the universal, cosmic forces at work upon our Mother Earth and all life upon it. And this is what the Mayan end times are all about human hubris or humility which one shall it be?
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) Voluptuous Venus enters fiery Leo and your solar 5th house of fun and romance this week, fueling the heart with passion and desire. Artistic, creative projects and expressions of love are excellent ways to harmonize with the sweet excitement of this mid-summer magic. Enjoy the beauty and blessings of life as you embrace it.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) The Leo new Moon initiates a lunar month of attention and concern regarding home and family. Childhood memories and feelings dance on the stage of life today in a play of emotion and insight. Tap into heart and spirit, forgive yourself and others for past pain and transgressions as you nurture goodness, love, peace and joy.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) Motivator Mars marches through the late degrees of Gemini, polishing off a seven-week period of heightened self-awareness, intense personal agendas and battles of self-will. Learning the difference between a healthy and unhealthy ego is what its all about. Anger is not your ally, calm the waters and set sail upon the shining sea.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) The staggering rate of change and apparent chaos upon the planet can feel upsetting and unsettling to even the most enlightened Moonchildren. Safety and security are your champions, but fear and anxiety are not. Discover and cultivate a deep sense of faith via acceptance and gratitude. Focus on whats good about now and live free.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) The Leo New Moon activates a new cycle at a new level of creation for both yourself and the world. You are the artist and architect of your own personal structures and realities, but what you create has a powerful effect on planet Earth and all life upon it. Understand this powerful truth and create with heart and health.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) Each day, each moment, each situation is an open page, an empty canvas, an unborn creation. As a living, breathing artist on planet Earth, its time to paint your opus Magnus. Tap in to the numinous, spiritual realms of divine guidance and grace. Feel the warp and weave of forces greater than yourself and surrender to a higher power. Go with the flow, ride the tide.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) A volatile square between revolutionary Uranus and obsessive Pluto in cardinal signs pressures calm and peaceful Librans to face challenging issues regarding home and family. Relationships amongst siblings and children or matters of authority and control play out in a dance of leadership and enlightenment. Maintain a cool head and open heart.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) Scorpios ancient ruler Mars moves into a place of influence and force this week. A Galactic Center opposition followed by a cardinal cross square accelerates an already speedy pace regarding personal relationships and the part you play in all of them. Rise above the hubbub and tap into higher self being, seeing and doing. Good luck!
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) One-to-one relationships ignite with flames of inspiration and enthusiasm as you see the purpose behind the position and lesson behind the learning. Examine internal dialogues, mental processes and perceptual practices. Do you always see yourself being right? Recognize the destruction of self-righteous anger and let it go.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) The illusion-shattering square of truth-at-all-costs Uranus in self-serving Aries and obsessive-compulsive Pluto in controlling Capricorn promises metamorphic exposition regarding hidden agendas and abuse of power issues. Compassionate self-examination, self-review and self-responsibility is imperative now. Do the work!
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) A fresh new Moon in your solar 7th house of long term commitment favors fresh starts in your most important one-to-one relationships. Marriage, partnership, sharing and pairing are themes as you move through the next several weeks. Show up for others, be considerate and responsible for your actions and behaviors. The rest is easy.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) What a great time to initiate programs of self-betterment! Lunar light shimmers upon those who follow a path of personal responsibility and general humility. Focus attention and effort on what you can do to improve yourself rather than critiquing and criticizing others. Identify your part and let others take care of theirs

The Mid-Summer Leo Heart of Soul and Spirit
As the Sun moves into Leo and we approach the annual cross-quarter mark of mid-summer, I cant help but feel the intense vibrations of the Mother Earth. Life is a mystery, its magic and magnificence is everywhere. And the full-on vibrancy of the Leo sun-time brings it on full- force. Heart-centered, courageous, strong of will and full-of-life, the Leo archetype - symbolized by the proud and powerful Lion is a typically masculine or yang energy that creates, excites and pursues. A fixed fire-sign, ruled by the Sun and characterized by romantic dreams, inspirational faith and optimistic generosity, it is where and when we feel and follow our hearts - guided by the pure, essential spirit, force and power of love. Loyal, childlike, creative, affectionate and fun, Leo energy is the self-centered ego and will - the heart of soul and spirit that requires attention and is fueled by recognition. Seasonally, it is the height of summers glory flowers blossom and fruits ripen we can see, smell, feel, touch and taste natures awesome creative, regenerative, productive power.
For me, Leo is a time of sentimental remembering, when I drift back to the sizzling days and warm, embracing nights of Denvers long, hot summer. Playing ditch em with the neighborhood gang, running through sprinklers and playing on slip n slides, hanging out at swimming pools and riding horses through irrigation ditches to cool down. No school! I see myself sunbathing in the backyard, preparing for a romantic date with an exciting suitor, loves first kiss and all the limitless possibilities of life laid out before me.
Today I live on a high mountain mesa between Telluride, Colorado and Moab, Utah. A gurgling acequia runs through our property and I can jump in one of our ponds if I need to chill. Pinon juniper forests border our south pastures and a cottonwood, oak-filled draw cascades a year-round, spring-fed stream all the way down to Naturita Creek. There are bears and elk, deer and eagles, hawks, coyotes, badgers, skunks and raccoons prowling, grazing and flying about. I am always on the lookout for fairies and gnomes and I can feel their presence in the clear blue, early mornings following rain or when the sunset paints the sky with pink and coral. Turquoise twilight fades into midnight blue and stars twinkle against the vast backdrop of deep space. I am grateful and blessed to be living fully, with love and grace, a lioness in the forest, a shape-shifting woman-child who runs with wolves and dances with fairies. Heres to the creative heart and magnanimous spirit of the regal, powerful Lion.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) The first week of Leo delivers plenty of heart and soul. Pay attention to motives and personal agendas regarding passions and desires. Determine where and ego gets in the way of a good time. Self-will can get us in trouble, especially when it has to do with maintaining facades and false identities. Be kind and gentle with yourself and those you love.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) The Sun moves into Leo on July 22nd and initiates a zodiac month of focused time and attention on family relationships, issues of personal security and matters of domestic importance. Communication is a means of understanding, negotiation and settlement. Be as calm and compassionate as possible when it comes to others. Maintain balance.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) The Sun joins ruler Mercury in Leo this week and inflames or excites personal thoughts and ideas. Youll be quick on the draw when it comes to retorts and responses, so practice the art of pause as you interact and react with others. Your ability to think on your feet is a gift, but interrupting or insulting others is not. Maintain values and be sweet.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) Voluptuous Venus wraps up her annual transit through your sign this week, so enjoy the joyous love and beauty of the influence while it lasts. Recognize the many blessings and gifts of this very precious life as you walk through and breathe in your days and nights. Enjoy the art of cultivation and cuisine, from seed to table. Slow food is good food.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) Your Happy Birthday month begins this week, and once again, youve made another revolution around the sun. With all the guts and glory it takes to be you, smile, shimmer and shine. A positive light and life is what the Leo incarnation is all about. If you find yourself in self-pity or resentment, youve missed the joy ride. Practice gratitude, experience grace.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) An annual cycle of closure presents itself as the Sun moves into your solar 12th house of spiritual reckoning. Karma past and present is big this month. Pay close attention to your own thoughts, words and deeds. When you find yourself at a loss or lost, ask for guidance and assistance from the heavenly, celestial realms. Go ahead, surrender and receive.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) Friends and associates, fellowship and camaraderie infuse your days and uplift your evenings. Get out and enjoy the divinely dramatic dance of summer in all its glory. Play with inherent creative, artistic talents as you bring something useful or beautiful into form. Manifestation is a process of strong desire and focused effort. Patience, practice and perseverance further.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) Jupiter retrograde in Taurus and two planets in Leo put you to the test regarding personal and professional relationships. You may be reviewing and retracing steps in pairing and sharing, committed to a career and wondering which way to go. Wait a while and cultivate inner peace as you explore options and research opportunities. Do the inner work.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) The Leo sun-time excites exploration and expansion as foreign travel and cultures beckon. A calm and practical work review must take place before you take off on any wild new adventure, however. The cosmos favor accountability, credibility and consistency especially when it comes to you! Health and diet continue to be an area of great reward. Keep it up!
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) Other peoples money or assets, inheritance or legacies come into play this week and upcoming zodiac month. Matters of intimacy and secrecy must also be addressed. What or where are you hiding? How healthy are you, really? Other people are willing to help you get what you want; your job is to be honest and committed in working towards its manifestation.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) As the Sun crossed from the bottom to the top half of your solar chart, the world awakens. Its time to get out, see and be seen. Isolation, seclusion or simple self-focus no longer serves to enlighten and excite you. Interact, share and explore new territory in relationships. Other people have a lot to give, listen and experience the world in friendship.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Love is a theme as lion-hearted Leo takes charge of the cosmos. Your biggest assignment is to be kind and gentle to you. Self-improvement and self-love are allies. Its not about cracking the whip, beating yourself up or into shape. Maintain daily routines of self-examination. Take a personal inventory of your day and discover just how good you really are.

The Incandescent Purple Flush of Matter and the Gold of Spirit
Throughout my whole life, during every moment I have lived, the world has gradually been taking on light and fire for me, until it has come to envelop me in one mass of luminosity, glowing from withinThe purple flush of matter fading imperceptibly into the gold of spirit, to be lost finally in the incandescence of a personal universe
Pierre Tielhard de Chardin, Jesuit scholar/author The Phenomena of Man
I love the full-bloom blossom of high summer. Luscious shades of green, fragrant roses and magnificent wildflowers make the days and weeks from mid-July to mid-August some of the most vibrant and delightful of the year. Meadows kissed with golds and blondes, glades of fluttering, lime-colored aspen and gardens bursting with kaleidoscope reds, blues and yellows open my heart to Mother Natures awesome power and grace. I am reminded that lifes most inspirational, transformational moments come at times of communion with mystical forces and mysterious sources; energies far greater and more powerful than I.
Tielhard de Chardin's eloquent quote describing the transcendental experience of merging matter and spirit - of seeing and feeling the ultimate truth of the alpha and Omega - so moved my spirit that I had to share it. Birth and death the eternal dance of life - ethereal and material, the metaphysical process of creation and destruction, death and rebirth. Evolution. Ongoing, forever and ever, hanging in the balance of a second, complete in its entirety, always changing, everything and nothing, all at once the ever present now.
The astrological month of Cancer is drawing to a close. At 10:12 pm on July 22nd, the Sun will enter the fixed fire-sign of Leo and bid adieu to the fertile, nubile, nurturing innocence of the tropical zodiacs first water sign. In so doing, we move from summers seasonal initiation and childlike rebirth to its sizzling primetime, when passion, performance, drama and desire displace the ebullient navet and sweet comfort of the seasons first four weeks. On the heels of the stunning July 14th/15th Cancer/Capricorn full Moon, may our passage through the Cancer-Leo gap be one of brilliant beauty, boundless bounty and benefic bliss. Blessings and peace
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) Where you live and with whom are themes as you reflect upon recent radical life changes in the world around you. These times are gateways to the future. Choices now are packed with power and potential. Nurture self and relax at home, be sweet and practice self-care. Express gratitude and cultivate compassion in general. Cultivate heartfelt goodness.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) The Cancer/Capricorn full Moon illuminates matters of perception and communication. Pay attention to your thoughts and words, what you think and what you say carry extra weight now. Brothers and sisters may be a big part of your week. Stay in the solution and focus on the positive aspects of your experience. Good time or bad time, its up to you.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) With Mars so close to the Moons south node in Gemini, be aware of old, repeating behavior patterns that may pop up and get in the way of progress. The most comfortable and familiar ways of reacting to external stimuli are often what keeps us imprisoned. Acting like a child, staying stuck in insecurity and blaming others doesnt work. Blaze a new trail.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) The annual fruition of the Cancer lunar cycle marks a turning point in your personal year. Take a good look at what and who has come and gone over the last twelve months. As one who thrives on security, loves home and family and prefers the time-honored and traditional, these times are challenging. Self-sufficiency and self-care are allies. Feel, deal and heal.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) With mental Mercury flying through Leo, you may find yourself thinking and talking more than usual. Pay attention to your thoughts and words, become a witness to the process of perception, definition and integration. You are qualifying and quantifying reality. Internal dialogues are working overtime. Its a great time to observe and examine concepts and beliefs.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) Matters of relationship commitment and responsibility continue as a major summer theme. The Cancer full Moon shines light on the art of friendship and questions whether or not you are being a good one. Trust is built on honesty and accountability. Are you showing up for others, keeping your word and cultivating respect? Daily practice is progress.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) Professional responsibilities and all matters of accomplishment can get in the way of having fun! Yet, you find yourself contemplating whether or not youre doing what you need to do regarding career and achievement. Its nice to relax, but as one who craves balance, you also need to be and feel productive. Go ahead, do the work and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) Thinking about professional choices and options is a theme for you this week. Great pleasure comes via travel and spiritual pursuit. Open the book, read the map and go in the directions that feel best. Truth and honesty put us on the right path; its the connection to divine wisdom, guidance and grace. Show up and walk the talk, one step at a time.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) Love may feel elusive and/or enigmatic, especially when you want it most. We all crave intimacy with another, but its easier to desire it than to get it. Relationships take work and what we give is what we get. Make sure youre doing a good job at taking care of yourself before you start expecting others to take care of you. Be honest and open, relax and let it flow.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) This is a big week regarding others. Sharing and pairing is a theme. Examine your part in your most committed and significant relationships. Make sure the foundation is strong, built on truth and trust. Are you being honest with yourself? Be aware of projection and judgment, take care of your side of the street and move forward. Keep it clean.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Other people may be thinking and talking about you, requests for your presence and invitations abound. This is a rather busy time of year; summer has plenty to offer in the way of fun and sun. Return calls, answer emails. Get out and enjoy the gift of life. Open your heart to the beautiful, bountiful natural world. Enjoy the joy and experience grace.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Neptune and Chiron in Pisces continue to put themes of spirit and healing front and center. Take a good hard look at the quantum physical reality of life today on planet Earth. Everything is an interconnected web of love, light and information. You are a particle and wave that affects the whole. Do your best to be your best and let the Universe take care of the rest.

Dance with the Moon and Mother Earth - Baile con las Diosas
Summer is magnificent and magical. Long, hot days and warm, embracing evenings cast spells on those who dance in the forests and swim in the waters of Mother Natures bounty. Rollicking rivers and bubbling brooks cascade through mountain canyons, travel across meadows and follow the land-curves to irrigated fields and gardens of harvest. Some of the water flows to the sea, some of it quenches thirst and some of it simply evaporates. Towering cumulonimbus clouds rise above swaying green pastures and parched, golden grasses, exploding in rain, electric lightening and rumbling thunder. Sunsets paint the skies with pink and coral as turquoise twilight slowly turns to night.
Glittering stars and cooling breezes await those who venture in to the mystical delight of summers darkness. The distinctive fishhook shape of the Scorpion paints the southern sky with shimmering diamonds, and is easy to identify. Antares, its 1st magnitude red heart-star is a super-giant and emanates far more light than other stars in its spectral class. The cats eyes of the Scorpions tail represent the stinger of this classic constellation - watch how they glisten and glimmer as they look back to you from somewhere out in deep, deep space. High and to the west, the bright orange star Arcturus stands out like a beacon - follow the curve of the Big Dippers handle (Ursa Major) to make sure you have it right and in the east, check out blue-white Vega, summers brightest star.
The zodiac month of nurturing Cancer is definitely one of my favorites. Of course, I was born when the Moon was in Cancer, so Im naturally nurtured by the nurturing and fed by the fertility of this very maternal cardinal water sign. La Tierra Madre y La Luna Diosa the Mother Earth and the Moon Goddess dance with the divine, pull the tides and call the rain. I am grateful and blessed to be a part of the dance. Baile con las diosas! [Dance with the goddesses!]
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) A very, very powerful week presents itself as the Moon waxes and possibilities increase. Uranus in Aries may feel shocking and disruptive, but the function is one of radical, positive change. Whatever comes your way is part of a bigger plan and higher calling. Focus on love, art, creativity and spirituality. Simply listen to and follow your heart.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) Jupiter in your sign continues to encourage exploration and expansion, spiritual enlightenment and higher learning. This is a year of great good fortune and benevolent influence - one that will exceed all expectations as long as you cultivate and follow a path of goodness. Honesty is your ally and truth is your champion. Think positive and believe in miracles.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) As motivator Mars continues to march through Gemini, you may feel stronger desires and passions than you have in months. Be on the lookout for ego-based or attention me behaviors that can work against getting what you want. A softer, gentler approach guarantees success. Utilize energy in physically exhilarating ways and stay on track.
Cancer (June 21-July22) Voluptuous Venus in Cancer shimmers beauty and charm down upon all shapes and sizes of Moonchildren this week, adding even more glimmer and glow to your already luminous spirit. Bask in the shine and embrace the magic. This is your month and time to be the best you can be. Focus on love and peace in relationships rather than power and control. Yes!
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) Mercury moving through Leo has your mind busy and communication on the rise. Slow down a bit, witness thoughts and pay attention to what you say. Ego has a way of getting in the way of happiness. Identify how you may be creating misery via projection, speculation and/or assumption. Fully embrace the present, count blessings and seize the day.
Virgo (Aug.23-Sep.22) Say your prayers and recognize the power of spirit. Forest fairies and water sprites beckon those willing to play. Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) Taskmaster Saturn in your solar 12th house of past and present life karma has you cleaning residue, mending fences and finishing actual and metaphorical business in relationships. The most useful spiritual tool in the toolbox is forgiveness. Seek assistance from invisible forces, be honest with yourself, do what you can and let the Universe do the rest.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) You may feel distanced or separated, lost and alone when it comes to friendship. Take a good look at what you need right now in the way of camaraderie. The Love, Lust and Sweet Life Choice of the Cancer Solar Eclipse
Im reading about climate change and thinking about 2012. Its overwhelming. There is so much information available today. Im stunned and awed by the Internet. I cant express how lucky I feel to be living right here, right now on this magically beautiful planet Earth. In light of all the craziness, injustice, chaos and insanity of human life in our newborn millennium, I can still see and experience the enchanting power of a sunset, the blessings of rain and the drama of lightening; hallowed thunder and shimmering rainbows.
July 1st marks the last of three summer eclipses and as a new Moon solar eclipse, it begins to close the window on the highly charged (actual and metaphysical) energetic cosmic atmosphere that accompanies our biannual solar and lunar eclipse cycles. Taking place @ 0912 Cancer, we can expect softer, kinder feelings and experiences, a sense of comfort and security, as well as the imperative awareness that we are all here together, nurtured and cared for by our own common mother, the Mother Earth.
The recent Gemini/Sagittarius eclipses carried themes of lessons and learning, teaching and searching, travel, information and communication. Somewhat confusing, chaotic and crazy in its multi-faceted, multi-tasking techniques and technocracies, Gemini/Sag often feels fast-paced, far-fetched and simply just too far out there. Seemingly schematic and frequently schizoid, we can get lost in TMI or over-amped by FYIs.
The Gemini/Sag function is education and enlightenment, but the process can be like riding a wild roller coaster thats screeching out of control; everyone is screaming and images fly by, our minds open and spinning. One thing for sure: its exciting. And were glad when it stops. We step off, plant two feet on the ground and let out a sigh of relief. We made it!
Now, to embrace goodness, grace and gratitude, sweet love and lust for life as the Sun, Moon, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto align in the dynamic configuration of a cardinal grand cross. This could well be the hottest hot spot of the year. Eclipses are doorways to higher consciousness and this one signals that we have reached a major crossroads, a powerful point of decision and choice. The energy of initiation emanates throughout the cosmos, we are asked to take responsibility, take charge and go forth. Good luck and Happy Independence Day! May the joy of Freedom and the luck of Lady Liberty shine blessings and beauty upon your chosen path.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) The July 1st new Moon solar eclipse may be the hottest hot spot of the year for Rams. Electric Uranus in Aries plays the great awakener, challenging you to let go of old, dysfunctional behavior patterns and live vitally in the present. Its all about structural changes and new freedoms. Take responsibility, take charge and stay in the solution.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) Good luck Jupiter in Taurus awards you with personal opportunity amidst the chaos of other peoples volatility and flux. As you are being awakened to a new personal spiritual understanding of life and all its challenges, pay attention to seemingly coincidental happenstance and unusual circumstance. Remain open to divine messages and angelic guidance.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) Awakening and liberation are themes for this weeks eclipse; so dont be surprised if you want to run away! A powerful cardinal cross gives you the keys and puts you behind the wheel; just make sure theres fuel in the tank and money in the bank before taking off. Acceptance and responsibility are allies on the road ahead. Pay attention and read the signs.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) Each year the new Moon in Cancer heralds a magical time when soul and spirit, heart and mind conjoin in a metaphysical dance of rebirth. This week, the union of mystical forces takes place during a solar eclipse, portending 2011 as extraordinary and power-packed. Change, responsibility, self-nurturing and self-discipline are keys. Good luck!
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) The last time Uranus and Pluto conjoined was in the 1960s, a time of exceptional creativity and worldwide turmoil; their approaching square impels us to manifest what was seeded then. As kings and queens of heart, love and rock n roll, be the flower child you were born to be. Shine like the sun and walk in beauty. Give peace a chance. All we need is love.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) Themes of personal responsibility regarding income and earnings abound as eclipse energy encourages major new beginnings regarding means of living and quotients of physical security. Take a deep breath, focus on one thing at a time and dont lose yourself in the hurry and quest of self-importance. Inner peace is essential to health and well-being. Slow down.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct.22) Huge tailwinds blow for sweeping personal and global change as Pluto, Uranus and Saturn form a cardinal Grand Cross with the Cancer solar eclipse new Moon. As the wide-scale restructuring of economic, social and political institutions continues, know that all is as it should be right now. This doesnt mean you sit back and drink the poison. Be pro-active.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) A solar eclipse new Moon in Cancer advises you to do it in a feminine way. Mothering, nurturing, loving and giving comfort to yourself and others is the way to enlighten and enrich your life, as it is, here on earth. Get creative, share laughter, give birth to new forms, grow your garden, cooperate, strengthen relationships. Go green. Focus on building anew.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) What needs to be cut out of your life for your light to shine more fully? How are you fracturing energy by over-extension? Theres always plenty to do and you dont want to miss out, but this approach always sets you up for self-defeat. Calm down and slow down. You simply have too much on your plate. Focus on the facts and listen to your friends.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) Transformational Pluto in your sign plays a powerful role in the Cancer cardinal Grand Cross solar eclipse. This translates as both a turning point and milestone. Embrace what comes and practice acceptance. Life happens and we are presented with the unpredictable and uncontrollable. Discover the river and ride the current. Do what you can, then practice the art of surrender.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) New priorities and wide-scale restructuring are themes as planets square off in a dance of challenge and change. It may be difficult to accept life on lifes terms, but its the quickest way to finding solutions. Rather than fret over what you cant change, change what you can. Take care of your own back yard and let your neighbors take care of theirs. Live in the present.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar.20) Uranus, the mythic God of Chaos, represents the volatility and r. 20)flux necessary for a new order to emerge. Rebellion and revolution are avenues of change and radical awakenings abound. That said, you understand the value of inner calm amidst disorder and confusion. Keep the peace and dont let your or other's emotional coloring distort the facts and figures.

How We Feel and What We Do...
"There are so many ways to implode or suffer these days. But every once in awhile we enjoy a small respite In such a ritual-poor society as ours, sometimes, very occasionally, we get it right." Dana Gerhardt @mooncircles.com
Ive been writing my weekly Alacazem astrology column since 1988 thats 23 years of recurring weekly deadlines and at times I wonder how Ive done it. The answer is simple: One week at a time.
Today, the wind is strong and hot, gusting from west to east. Traveling across the sizzling sun-baked deserts of Utah to the snow-capped San Juans, air temperatures are in the 90s. Tall grasses sway in the early summer sun, lush green meadows dance with gold and farmers are taking their first cuttings of the seasons hay. Irrigation ditches gurgle, mosquitoes bite and the sweet sounds of frogs caress the evening twilight. Yuccas and cactus are blooming in the pinion forests and pink rosebuds grace wire fences. I am grateful and blessed to be a part of nature, a human being living here on planet Earth, in southwestern Colorado, where the wild meets the tame and home on the range is still a reality, not a fantasy. And yet, challenges remain.
Ive noticed very few bluebirds this year. Headline news is all about climate change, wildfires, slow economic recovery, deficits and pollution, wars and loss, genocide. Uranium mills, nuclear energy, clean coal and hydraulic fracking. National and local real estate markets are bust, no new construction, no jobs, no loans, no money. Good news for the super-rich theres plenty on the market at very low prices and bad news for those who have properties for sale.
Cest la vie as they say in France what will be. There is so much we cant control or change. Acceptance is the answer and gratitude is the golden key. This years late spring and early summer eclipses have carried themes of the Gemini/Sagittarius polarity: individual and collective means and methods of communication, information and learning; sibling relationships, belief systems and life philosophies; corruption, lies and dishonesty; local and world travel and culture; perceptions, thoughts, ideas and dialogues. What we see, what we think, what we say and what we dothats all Gemini. The next new Moon solar eclipse takes place on July 1st in Cancer and its all about how we feel. And guess what? Theres a humongous connection between what we do and how we feel. Its simple: If you dont feel good, change what you do, what you're doing.
Shakespeare once noted that people tend to judge themselves by what they consider to be their own potential, while others judge them by what they do. We create the future in the present. Do good and goodness follows. God bless and may you walk in beauty
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) The third of three eclipses takes place in Cancer on July 1st and turns the corner on the personal changes youve been a part of over the last several weeks. Home, family and your own sense of self-worth and security are themes. A cardinal Grand Cross signals you have reached a major crossroads. The old must be discarded for the new. Now is the time - do it!
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) The power-packed new Moon solar eclipse involves three outer planets and six squares. This translates as a time for prayer, meditation and surrender. Pay attention to dreams and intuition as the messages you receive are chock full of important, relevant information that will help you navigate the road ahead. Feel your feelings and follow your heart.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) Venus and Mars in your sign shine bright and lend a strong cosmic hand to gifting and giving you what you want and desire. Others see you as beautiful, competent and attractive. As a result, you are in high demand. Manage time and resources according to commitments, responsibilities and schedules. Connect with guardian angels and invite them in.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) The upcoming solar eclipse in your sign marks one of the hottest hot spots of the year for Moonchildren. Embrace life and love it. Acceptance is the answer today and tomorrow. Take a deep breath and know you are exactly where you need to be, no matter how difficult or challenging it may feel. Prune the bush and do the work. World change begins with you!
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) You may feel a bit left out, as everything seems to be happening to everyone else. You just arent getting the personal adoration and attention you deserve! Count your blessings and enjoy the break. Good luck Jupiter in Taurus indicates a yearlong gifting trend regarding profession. Focus on achievement and know recognition is on the way.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) How you show up in relationships is an important theme this week. Know the power of your part in partnership and be the person you want others to be. Also recognize the power of personal choice. You are refining and redefining how you earn a living and building a structure that will stay with you for years. When in action, simply do the next right thing.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct.22) You are an important piece of the cosmic puzzle this week as the Cancer new Moon solar eclipse places you at the center of several revolving situations and circumstances. Other people, family relations, professional obligations and domestic responsibilities square off in a dance of priority. This is a karmic test, rise to the occasion and do your best.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) While you may feel at times lonely or out of the loop, know that all is as it should be. Saturn in your solar 12th house of spiritual reckoning is delving deeply into present and past life karma, evoking images and feelings that may have been buried for eons. Open your head and heart to spirit. Connect with inner and outer divinity. Walk in the light.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) The Archers quest for truth emanates throughout the cosmos as one eclipse leads to another. This week, recognize the personal need and directive to expand faith and trust in a higher power, grasp the bigger picture and live life according to a moral code of right action and compassion. Be with uplifting, inspirational friends and follow their lead.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) A rather telling and trying week presents itself, as you feel charged with cosmic energies and vibrations. As one who prefers a grounded, practical life, you may not want to believe in celestial presence or influence. However, the facts remain. You are being pushed and pulled to change from the inside out. Welcome to rebirth, you are being transformed.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Thinking and perceptions continue to change. You are actually seeing life from an entirely different perspective. Your priorities and values have transformed and you have been born anew. Today, you understand the importance of a spiritual connection and are working to improve your conscious contact. Focus on self-improvement and keep the faith.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Neptune in your sign and Uranus in Aries opens you to spirit and awakens personal change regarding values and value systems. What once drove you crazy is now insignificant. This week, however, you may find yourself reliving old vendettas or re-experiencing past pain. The function is to see the futility of living there. Focus on the present and live in the now.

The Roller Coaster Ride to Summer Solstice [June 21st]
June is Geminis month. The mutable modality of the sign is everywhere. From late May restlessness the wind, melting snow, muddy creeks and emerging greens to mid-June madness packed pools, slow motor homes and fast motorcycles, raging rivers and roaring crowds the perpetual motion of the zodiacs first air sign keeps us moving, thinking and doing, over and over, again and again.
This year, June delivered both a solar and a lunar eclipse to our hearts and heads. We were asked to be flexible and adaptable, detach from outcomes and get comfortable with uncertainty. For many, this is a large and difficult order to fulfill. Earth signs love stability and order. Water signs thrive on emotional security. Fire signs like excitement and air signs think. Obviously, the last two are more inclined to accept and at times even enjoy - the ups and downs of Gemini than the first two. Motion, motility and uncertainty work better with the principles of action and ideas than comfort and consistency. In all cases, its a challenge. The news today is that the roller coaster ride upon which we have been traveling this month is coming to an end. The teeter-totter polarities, scary cliffs and deep canyons of the journey are leveling out. The racy pace slows down and the erratic stops and sudden starts disappear. As we round the last corner and coast into cardinal Cancer, the chaotic winds stop. Soft, warm breezes, nurturing rains and gentle mornings greet the day. Summer solstice [June 21st] brings us the longest day and shortest night of the year. The season of sweet hot and sultry sizzle has begun. Happy, happy summer and summer solstice!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) June continues as a month of major awakening and adjustment for the Ram. With five planets changing signs and three eclipses, no wonder! Look for good things to come your way via partners and partnership. Sharing is the name of the game now. Open your heart to others and watch the magic of trust and faith heal old wounds and infuse you with love. Discuss fears and face them.

Its imperative to understand the power of your part - how you show up and what you do once you get there. Be present for yourself and the ones you love. Self-improvement, responsibility and humility are golden keys. Unlock the magic doors.

Live the ethic of equality as you discover self-authentic truth. Follow your heart and pay attention to intuitive thoughts and feelings. Home life is the golden good life now. Count your blessings.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Plenty of action at home and with the family guarantees you wont be bored. Whether its drama and chaos or peace and tranquility, embrace it all and accept what comes. Knowing the difference between what you can change and what you cannot is the key to happiness. And, its true; the only thing you can hope to change is you. The universe will do the rest.
