The Stellar Beauty and Bounty of our Autumn Earth Walk
Autumn Equinox, a day of celestial equilibrium and balance, a time for looking at our own lives as we live them here on Earth and balancing what we see with the eternal mystery and magic of the cosmos.
Life and eternity, chaos and creation, the finite and infinite; the cosmic perspective in all its metaphysical glory. It is here we intuit the inherent humility of the human experience, its fragility and grace, the unfathomable miracle of birth delivered with the certainty of death. What is our purpose, why are we here?
As the final days of summer surrender to the first glorious days of autumn, take note of what is going on inside you. Do the changing colors and morphing landscapes touch something deep, stir your soul and awaken your heart? Are you also being called upon to transform and change, shape-shift with the seasons and relinquish all illusions of control? The Sun and Moon are rising and setting directly east and west. The hours of day and night are equal. The air is cooler, the mornings crisp. We cannot stand in the way of natural cycles, but become one with them. After all, we are the ocean and the sea, the sand, surf and sunshine. The Moon pulls the tides and keeps time with the Sun. The stars speak of our cosmic origin, call to our eternal soul and immutable spirit. We are all and nothing, the alpha and the omega, the end and the beginning.
Happy Autumn and may your Earth Walk be tempered with the stellar beauty and boundless bounty of our ever-expanding, forever changing Universe. Peace, joy and starlight.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) The Sun enters Libra on Sept. 23rd and initiates the season of autumn. This begins the second half of your solar year, when you move from an intensely personal focus to one that includes others. It is a time of relating, sharing and pairing. A time to consider alternative perspectives, opinions and approaches. Practice listening and cultivate balance.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) Autumn Equinox takes place this week, and with it comes some rather deep, emotional and spiritual shifts. You may see just how impossible it is to control what other people think, feel and do. Once again, it is leadership by example, and attraction rather than promotion. Inner peace comes via inner work, self-improvement and right action. Keep it clean.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) Generous, good-luck, good-fortune planet Jupiter in mid-Gemini continues to open doors of opportunity and growth as autumn begins. This is an influence that will continue for months, one that promises to open your mind and heart to the many-faceted possibilities of the ever-expanding universe. Go in directions that feel good. Follow the light.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) Voluptuous Venus in passionate Leo and jovial Jupiter in joking Gemini may have you spinning the wheel when it comes to love and romance. Not quite sure who is sincere and who is not? Take time for yourself, commune with nature and listen to what your heart says. This is a week and season of personal self-authority and direction. Follow inner truth.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) Others find you sweet and attractive now, don't let them down. Venus in your sign encourages personal balance and equanimity when it comes to others. Identify the positive aspects of your relationships and focus on solutions rather than problems. Negotiations and settlements are favored now, as you can see both sides of issues and situations. Maintain the peace.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) Autumn celebrates and honors the Virgo goddess of harvest with its cornucopia of color, fruit and produce. As the zodiac month of your personal solar year begins, take the bull by the horns and ride it to the bell. Pat yourself on the back for jobs well done and recognize the awesome power of personal choice. Show up and suit up. Be here now.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) As Saturn winds its way through the last degrees of Libra, you may feel its powerful hand on your proverbial shoulder. These last few years have been far from easy. Losses, realizations and actual physical changes are part and parcel of this transit. You have emerged as a more practical, mature and competent version of what you were. Congratulations.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) Sensitive, sensuous and emotional might describe how you feel as the Sun moves from virginal Virgo in to light-loving Libra. Autumn evokes both soul and spirit for the Scorpion. Changing leaves and seasons stir energies in a metamorphic pot of mutation and transformation. Embrace the inner god or goddess and dance with the divine. Wild and free.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) Ruler Jupiter in Gemini, your solar 7th house of important others continues broadening the limits of your relationships and commitments. It is a joyful dance of interaction and expansion. Keep an open heart and mind when it comes to sharing, pairing and exploring partnership. Whether it is for a day or a year, you are ready to join force. Go for good.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) Friends and associates may push and pull you toward goal achievement or group involvement. Whatever the manifestation, this is an excellent time to pursue your dreams and aspirations. Seek out people whom you admire and respect, want to be like or hold in high esteem. We become like the energy we surround ourselves by, so make sure it is good.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Sandwiched between numinous Neptune in Pisces and transformational Pluto in Capricorn, your Aquarian Sun is influenced by the powerful forces of heaven and hell. Whether it is demonic force or angelic presence, maintain your equilibrium and focus on goodness, gratitude and grace. Life is all about choices. Take your time and make the right ones.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) We all suffer losses. How we deal with these losses is what makes all the difference. It is not what happens to us that determines our character, our experience, our karma and our destiny, but how we relate to what happens. With Neptune in Pisces, loss and lack of control are poignant. Simply know that it is how you handle it that counts.

Madonna of the Harvest & the Virgo New Moon
Last week I found myself driving through waves of memory and emotion. The road trip to Denver was evocative. A journey I have made countless times, but this time, somehow deeper and more intense. The first trace of fall color in the mountains and valleys, brilliant blue Colorado sky, fruit stands and vineyards, schools back in session. The way back home, to where I was born, the place I grew up and learned how to live, how to be. How to run, jump and throw the football; how to play and ride a bike. How to win and how to lose. Brothers and sisters, mother and father, grandparents and relatives, friends who have come and gone. All a tapestry of experience, lessons and learning. The way back home.
Today I sit in my bunkhouse office, typing words and counting blessings. This day is a magnificent gift. Sunflowers and zinnias burst forth in the late summer sunshine, the Virginia creeper has turned a luscious crimson red. Tomatoes are abundant and peppers are ready for harvest. Basil is fragrant and deep, emerald green.
The Moon is waning, the nights blue-black. The other evening I walked out to close the greenhouse door and met up with Mars, shining bright orange-yellow in the western sky. Nearby was the distinctive constellation Scorpius, with its also orangish heart-star Antares - the ancient celestial rival to Mars - also shining down upon me, reminding me that all is as it should be. And next to the mighty Scorpion, the Milky Way shimmered in classic beauty, emanating the mystery of eternity. The hand of destiny swept over me; it took my breath away.
On September 15th @ 8:11 pm MDT the Sun and Moon form the exact conjunction aspect of a New Moon in the late degrees of virtuous Virgo. Once again we are presented with the opportunity to begin again. It is a fortuitous, fertile time to plant seeds for another lunar cycle, this time in honor of the Virgin, the Madonna of the Harvest. A time when emotion and reason unite, soul and spirit, yin and yang join force. Astrologically, this is a week of incentive and direction, filled with a variety of significant cosmic events. Powerful Pluto in Capricorn ends its yearly retrograde phase on September 17th and two days later forms the second of seven exact squares to revolutionary Uranus in Aries. This translates as a shifting of individual and collective direction and will, waves of change wash over the planet, giant leaps and major breakthroughs are possible.
No doubt you are feeling the same emotional intensities that I have been feeling. As the seasons turn, so do we. God bless and may the goddess of the Harvest direct and guide you toward an enriching, healthy life. Happy Virgo New Moon.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) If you feeling like a victim, slave or underling of sorts, prepare for a giant step forward. Up and out, into the free zone of liberated responsibility and personal freedom. As Pluto ends its yearly retrograde phase, you see exactly what you need to do now. The past is history; the future is a mystery. Embrace courage, do it right and live fully in the present.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) Evolution means stepping into the unknown, embracing the chaos of creation and manifesting your best. As you understand the value of consistent, focused attention and application, be one who brings the structure, order and shape of revolutionary ideas and solutions into form. Virtue, honesty and patience are allies. Perseverance furthers.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) On Sept. 19th Uranus and Pluto form the second of seven exact squares, marking a major turning point in both individual and collective consciousness. Energetic resonance from the turbulent 60s civil rights, anti-war, back to the Earth, feminism and flower power evoke thoughts, emotion and action. Go forward upon the path, do your best.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) A fresh new Moon and lunar cycle begin as the Sun and Moon conjoin in late Virgo. The stars align in favor of self-betterment, work, service and genuine humility. It is time to act in earnest and do what it takes to make the world a healthier, happier place. Make a pledge; sign up for cause or simply practice random acts of kindness. The time is now. Get up and go.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) With love and money planet Venus now moving through Leo, you are in an excellent position to attract exactly what you want your way. Personal magnetism, charisma and charm emanate from a deep well of soul and spirit. Feel the power of heart and go with the flow. New Moon energy favors a humble, rather than flamboyant approach. Plant the seed.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) Moving with grace and living in harmony with the natural flow carries you like a river of love and light through lifes greatest challenges and conflicts. Joy, hope and faith are always there, available for those who chose to recognize and embrace them. Enlightenment is accessible in every moment and each experience. Let go of expectation and accept what is.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) As the Sun and Moon come together in your solar 12th house of self-reflection and spiritual connection, recognize the vast well of power and potential that lives and breathes in quiet spaces and beautiful places. Mother Nature calls to your heart as seasons shift and autumn paints the landscape brilliant. Breathe deep, cultivate inner peace and walk in beauty.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) This week emerges as one with plenty of potential and charm, challenge and drama. With motivational Mars now in mid-Scorpio, you are no doubt feeling the rapid movement of life, the ever-flowing river of opportunity and experience from which you navigate your course. Freedom of choice is a sacred gift. Action and consequence are an equation. Choose wisely.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) A Virgo new Moon in your solar 10th house of professional direction and attention initiates a new beginning regarding career and achievement. If youve been contemplating or working toward change, enhancement or expansion here, you may very well see it manifest. Whatever takes place; know that the universe supports your efforts toward re-creation. Go for goodness.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) The second of seven Uranus/Pluto squares excites will and awakens consciousness as you see the magnificent potential of enlightened change and educated choice. Political, social and personal arenas light up in a dance of action and consequence. The Virgo new Moon illuminates the role you have to play in the cosmic drama. Take the high road.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Planet Uranus co-rules Aquarius and this week it plays an important role in the unfolding cosmic drama of power themes worldwide. Social, political and personal arenas light up as fighters fight battles, challenge opponents and throw strategic punches in attempts to win. The best ally here is knowledge. Arm yourself with information and focus on truth.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Where are you going and what are you doing? Numinous Neptune retrograde in Pisces surrounds you with a misty, mystical fog that others may not be able to penetrate or navigate. As a result, your actions can be misunderstood. This is a time of divinely inspired self-reflection and creativity. Focus on silence, inner peace, healing and forgiveness.

The Magic of Changing Light and Majesty of Enduring Love
I am in Denver right now, visiting family and I am under deadline...
Nothing new, deadlines happen every week. And I think I have mentioned that some weeks I have plenty of things to write about. Other weeks, not so much. Frequently, the words come, my brain is brimming with thoughts and ideas; an astrological event, a new or full Moon, something that constellates exactly the ancient metaphysical dictum: as above, so below.
But today, I am juggling "to do" lists for my short time here in the "big city" with sister, brother, niece and nephew get togethers, making phone calls and, yes, working with deadlines. I know I need to write something quickly, short and sweet, yet appropriate and meaningful. I am feeling the poignant pull of autumn; the magnificent season of harvest coupled with the final days of summer, and it touches something deep inside me. I have to admit, the emotions are flowing. Evocative, seductive and powerful. Waves of feeling breaking on the shores of life experience, childhood memory, present moment grace and gratitude. I am transforming, like the landscape, vulnerable to natural forces, wind and weather, receptive and effected by it all.
I left home yesterday Wednesday, September 5th at 10:00 am. Early morning had been cool - 47 degrees at 5:00 am - but by the time I drove out our driveway, it was 61. Cruising through Unaweep Canyon - the red rocks, the winding river, the still deep-green cottonwoods - it could have been mid-summer. But somewhere between Gateway and Grand Junction, I noticed the magical, vibrant glow of sunlight illuminating the first stage of changing leaves, drenching lime green tops and tips of trees, surrounding them with halos of luminescent lemon light. I wanted to stop and take pictures, but I was on a mission; with a schedule, making time, and just kept driving.
How fortunate and blessed I felt. To see and be a part of Mother Nature's metamorphic miracle of death and rebirth. Every year, every season, eterenal cycles, there for the taking, there for free, there for all, no matter how old, how rich, how poor. The seasonal cusp between virginal, virtuous Virgo - with its cornucopia of harvest and work ethic slogan "you reap what you sow" - and luscious, lovely Libra - with its artistically inspired, divinely crafted, brilliant season of color and light - calls to the heart and touches the soul. It is a primal, powerful time and energy that awakens love, romantic longing and the desire to share.
Tomatoes, peppers, peaches and pumpkins. Greens and yellows, gold and crimson, auburn and rust. I love it all. And I know you do too. Embrace the beauty, enjoy the joy. Blessings and peace. Happy harvest and happy trails! May your journey be filled with the magic of changing light and majesty of enduring love.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) Love planet Venus enters fellow fire sign Leo this week and ignites passion, creativity and romance. Be aware of impulsive urges and temper desires for impetuous action with the cooling calm of wisdom and past experience. Consider the difference between spontaneity and rash behavior, remembering that fools rush in. Take it easy, go with the flow.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) You may experience even more joy and beauty at home and with family as ruler Venus enters your solar 4th house of personal feelings and domestic environment. Childhood memories and relationships play an insightful role in the unfolding story of where you came from and how you arrived at where you are today. Look around and enjoy the bounty.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) With good-luck, good-fortune Jupiter now halfway through Gemini, you may be starting to feel the optimistic enthusiasm and positive attitudes characteristic of this generous, jovial giant. Expanding opportunities and uplifting experiences open doors of cross-cultural living and higher-self being. Study the map and take the high road whenever possible.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) Guardian angels guide you toward spiritually enriching possibilities via self-reflection, meditation and prayer. Through a deeply personal process of ego dissolution and divine intervention you are being reborn. Quiet places and serene spaces soothe the soul and uplift the spirit. Slow down and discover the grace of gratitude. Keep the faith and stay on the path.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) Voluptuous Venus, in all her seductive beauty and bounty, knocks at your heart and encourages a less rigid approach to love and life. Open up and let her in. Relax and enjoy the company of the zodiacs sweetest, most indulgent feminine icon. Count your blessings, smell the roses and recognize the value of simple, cost free pleasures. Smile and be sweet.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) You may find yourself dreaming about past loves or idealizing romantic relationships as vixen Venus enters your solar 12th house of spiritual transcendence and out-of-body experience. This is a natural evolutionary process of emotional death and rebirth, one to embrace and enjoy. You are gifted and blessed; smile and be happy for all that is, as it is, now.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) An arousing week presents itself as vixen Venus enters fiery Leo and sets inspirational hopes and dreams aflame. Tap into your highest self and initiate connection with those who share, support and contribute to creative actions and collective effort. At this point, you may feel like the solitary practitioner, but this is a gift from the divine. Embrace it and create.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) With motivational Mars now moving through Scorpio, you may feel more get-up-and-go than you have in months. Capitalize on this high-energy infusion by channeling it in productive, positive ways. Whether it is physical activity or creative pursuit, be certain you will benefit by getting out and about. You can get a lot done now, dont waste it on anger or ego.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) With the positive, enriching force of the Sun in mid-Virgo and the uplifting, inspirational energy of Jupiter in mid-Gemini, you may feel pulled toward the benefits and freedoms of committed relationships, especially in light of professional goals and aspirations. A full and nurturing life is all about balance. Practice the art of discretion, one day at a time.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) As your ongoing physical, spiritual, emotional and psychological metamorphosis continues, count your blessings and maintain programs of daily practice. Personal awakenings abound amidst these rather unsettling, and yet, exciting times. As a result, you see yourself differently and intuit a time of major personal change. This is it!
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) A spiritual warrior is one who cultivates the courage to feel the ecstasy of joy and the pain of sorrow, experience both failure and success, walk in rain or sunshine and follow a path of heart. As one who fights the eternal battle armed with weapons of knowledge and freedom, go forth in loving kindness.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) You may discover that you or someone in your family is pregnant with new life or expecting an addition or expansion of some type, shape or size. Whatever the manifestation, know that your personal world is growing in positive, productive ways. Open your heart and mind to the unlimited possibilities of our universe, as it all relates to you. Good luck!

The Physical Health and Spiritual Wealth of Self-Reflective Virgo
September! Wow. August flew by like a jet on its way to LA, reflecting the light of the Sun, shiny against the deep blue Colorado sky, moving fast.
I know that time is an illusion, that we can only mark it by cycles and seasons, the phases of the Moon, falling leaves, changing temperatures, decreasing and increasing light. With time, my body changes. I have grown older. I see the world from a broader perspective, with deeper depth and understanding than when I was a child. I am older and wiser, or am I just older?
Lots of philosophical, spiritual and metaphorical questions. Well, after all, it is the zodiac month of Virgo; the analyst, self-reflectionist and critic. The one who helps others, works and serves the world, born with the intention to assist and improve, make better and healthier, stronger and more physically fit; humble and modest, respectful, thoughtful and considerate.
It is Labor Day weekend and in Telluride that translates as TFF: Telluride Film Festival. The colors have started to change, autumn is in the air and the streets are filled with future film pundits and aspiring paparazzi. Ahhh, yes. Another cinematic revolution around the Sun...here's to 39 years of film in Telluride.
Elsewhere, harvest markets are full of flowers and produce, thoughts turn to winter and gathering firewood, putting food by. I am canning and collecting, summer's end is right around the corner. School has started and in Norwood on Friday night, the year's first Maverick varsity football game will be played under their brand new, state-of-the-art stadium lights. Happy harvest, happy TFF, happy self-refection and may the best show, team and Virgo-tempered temptation win. Good luck!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) Virgo/Pisces full Moon energy brings matters of heart and head to fruition and illuminates issues of service and surrender. Where might you be over-analyzing or picking apart relationships when what you need to do is accept, forgive and go forward? Take a good look at what you can do to improve the way you feel rather than expecting others to do it for you.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) This week's blue Moon lights up everything and everyone with whom you are involved and committed. People and places, talk and activities revolve around you like a carnival ferris wheel. In the process, you may feel a bit maxed out or overdone by other people's agendas and demands. Relax and enjoy the show as you practice patience and cultivate balance. After all, your life is good.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) As the Virgo Sun opposes the Pisces Moon and aspects every planet in our solar system, you may feel as if it is all about you. And with jovial Jupiter now in mid-Gemini, you just might be right. At the very least, you are currently popular and in demand, expanding and exploring possibilities and potential. Go in directions that feel good; cultivate faith.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) Voluptuous Venus in late degree Cancer shimmers love and beauty upon those who embrace the Mother Earth's bountiful gifts and cherish the fruits of her seasonal harvest. Nurture yourself and others with a delicious diet of fresh food, grown with love and free of toxins. Balance work with play, count your blessings and see the forest for the trees.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) Heart-centered living and being comes naturally to those born under the Lions mantle, but for many it is a difficult place to get to. Objective, mechanistic, linear, logical left-brain thinking is often favored over right brain intuition, dreams, images, feelings and imagination. Now its time to balance the two; combine facts with fantasy and awaken the magic.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) The real world of Virgo can shun the woo-woo realm of Pisces, but let us face it, the two are eternally, cosmically linked. When you find yourself over-thinking, over-doing and over-analyzing people, places and things, you must let go. Otherwise, you get lost in the crazy kingdom of details, facts and foibles. Relax and release; sweet surrender keeps you sane.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) Balance comes naturally to Libra, like a computer default or one's genetic DNA. And full Moons are all about balance, so tap into your inherent way of seeing and being. Virgo craves literal definition via facts and figures, shapes and sizes. Pisces loves to transcend and merge into the numinous One. A little bit here, a little bit there. Feel the magic, enjoy the show.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) A full blue Moon calls upon the fantastical as well as the factual. Look to friends, fellowships and support groups for grounded, down-to-earth solutions and ideas, but let your heart soar when it comes to love. Balance practical logic with intuitive feelings, recognizing the value of each. In all cases, be willing to accept responsibility for your choices.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) Looking for love in all the wrong places? Or simply searching for meaning in a world that seems lost? Whatever you are doing or feeling, take heart. Courage and confidence are lights on the hero's journey, and you are the hero. Tap into your magical, mystical soul and let spirit guide your path. Surrender to faith and let go of trying to control outcomes. Cultivate faith.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) Full Moon light illuminates mental and spiritual realms, as well as the actual and virtual. Perception becomes definition in a dance of reality vs. fantasy. While the old line "money can't buy happiness" is both true and false, you know material wealth must be tempered with emotional and spiritual health. That comes via loving, sharing and giving. Relax and let go. Trust and accept.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Lunar light shines upon your deepest, dearest dreams, encouraging you to follow your bliss and pursue your heart's desires. The first step in getting what you want is knowing what you want, and now you know. Carve out a practical, realistic path to goal achievement, recognize the value of persistence and take it one day at a time. Perseverance futhers.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) As the Pisces Moon opposes the Virgo Sun and we experience the advent of a full blue Moon, take some time to rest and relax. Count your blessings, thank the spirits and give love to those you love. Relationship balance is important to relationship success. It is a process of give and take. Speak your truth and listen to others. Life is good, enjoy it.

Visible Planets: Morning: Venus and Jupiter Evening: Mercury, Mars and Saturn
Eternal, Forever and Always: Viva la Virgen!
We have moved from sunny, radiant, center-of-attention Leo to hard-working, analytical, am-I-good-enough Virgo. And I'm wondering, can you feel the change? The pristine purity of light, shimmering sunshine, magnificent roses and magical wildflowers shout loudly of Leo and the summers vibrant beauty and vitality. It's a time to have fun, frolic in the forest and dance in the divinity of romantic love and passion. We connect with childlike innocence and remember childhood escapade, excitement and experience. It is a time of heart, for matters of the heart and all our heartfelt desires. And then comes Virgo, with purity of a different color and vibration; white rather than bright and virtuous rather than victorious. Virgo brings us the season of harvest, the satisfaction and joy of a job well done, the rewards and fruits of our labors.
The fiery spirit of Leo calms and re-centers itself in the more reserved, resourceful energy of the Virgin, returns to the earth, toils in the field and reconnects with the practical and pragmatic. The child matures and goes to work, lends a hand and helps the needy. It is all about practice, routines, schools and schedules, service, sacrifice and self-improvement.
Today it's raining cats and dogs. It rained all night last night as well. There is a definite chill in the air - temps are in the mid-60s - a major switch from 80 and 90 degree highs. I hear the knock of autumn at the door, think of gathering firewood and look forward to the promise of southwestern Colorado's long, golden Indian Summer, yellow aspen and crimson oak.
Meanwhile, our greenhouse tomatoes are ripening on the vine and boxes of delicious Palisade peaches are being transformed into pies, jams and frozen or dried preserves. The cycles of the seasons pull at my heartstrings as the Lion gives way to the Virgin and I cross the metaphysical bridge between then and now - eternal, forever and always. Viva la virgen!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) With the Sun now in Virgo, your solar 6th house of health, work and self-improvement, look forward to a month of making great gains in all matters of self-betterment. Take time for the process of healthy self-reflection. Examine how and where you might be taking things too personally or are out of balance in relation to others. One day at a time.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) The Virgo sun time is one of heartfelt loving and being for the Bull. Focus on the process of creative self-actualization as you go about your daily round. Spend time with children, at play and have fun. As summer wanes, your best bets come by way of healthy recreation and romance. Take time to notice the beauty and bounty all around you. Enjoy life and embrace grace.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) Home is where the heart is and the zodiac month of Virgo has a tendency to put you in a feeling place regarding where you came from and where you find yourself today. Family past and present have a big affect on your emotions and sense of self-worth. Find the hero or heroine within and give yourself permission to love the child and embrace the goddess.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) You may find yourself taking short trips, visiting friends and catching up on the local gossip as solar rays illuminate your desire to talk, question and communicate. Check in with siblings and family members to make sure all is well. Busy, busy harvest markets and activities keep you on the go as school bells ring and a touch of autumn is in the air. Look, learn and listen.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) As birthday candles flicker and Leo gives way to Virgo, take a deep breath and count your blessings. Congratulations on another revolution around the Sun! Life is what we make it, no matter what cards were dealt or burdens we carry. Happiness is an inside job, and you know it. Now that youre another year older and wiser, accept responsibility and make it good.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) Happy birthday month to vivacious, vibrant Virgos! As you move toward the end of one year and cross the threshold of another, take a thorough and searching inventory of yourself and your life. Be sure to look and identify all your gifts, talents and abilities. Let's face it, you can do more than most, so isn't it time to pat yourself on the back and feel great?
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) Hints of autumn stir the heart and pull you to the depths of soul and spirit. What you find there is your eternal, metaphysical connection to nature and the universe; living and breathing, dancing in rhythm and singing in harmony with the cosmos. Embrace it all, become One with all that is and ever shall be. You are blessed, thank goodness.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) People you love, dreams you embrace and aspirations that inspire you twist and turn in a rhythmic dance of heaven and earth as summer wanes and autumn beckons. Be your best, most beautiful self - soul and spirit - as fruits of harvest grace your table and Mother Nature's beauty and bounty stirs your heart. See the magic of life and share it with the world.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) Social and professional demands take center stage as you move from a relatively inspired, fun-loving consciousness to one more focused on performance and achievement. The recent respite from work has ended and the vacation is over. The good news is that you are ready and willing to go for the gold, in excellent shape and loaded for bear. Enjoy the ride.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) A dreamy, rather inspired awareness of spiritual realms and esoteric philosophies uplifts your consciousness and calls you to explore and experience higher-self living and being. The universe is an ever-evolving, fertile field of unlimited potential and possibility in which to plant seeds of intention and desire. Water with care and detach from the outcome.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) You may feel a bit more steamy and dreamy than usual, sensual and sexually inspired this week and upcoming month. The Sun has entered your solar 8th house of intimacy and intrigue. Of course, you are naturally pragmatic and practical when it comes to these things, but for now, you might consider the concept of surrender. Let go of inhibition, enjoy the show.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Partnerships and relationships in general fill your dance card as people you love, people you like and people you simply are involved with line up for some time and attention. Prune the bush when it comes to commitment and manage your time as wisely as possible. Practice saying what you need to say in the least words possible. It will keep you and others sane.

The Sun - the central star around which all planets of our solar system orbit - and the Moon - celestial companion and satellite to our Earth - come together in the exact conjunction aspect of a late degree Leo New Moon on August 17th @ 9:56 a.m. MDT.
As always, new Moons mark the beginning of every 28-day lunar month. The appearance of the Moon's delicate silver sliver low above the western horizon at dusk has been used by humankind for millennia to keep track of time. It is our most basic, primal calendar. Gardeners track lunar phases for planting, weeding, watering and harvest. Sailors, boaters and fishermen monitor new and full Moons to chart maximum low and high tides, as well as aquatic behavior patterns of fish and sea life. Gravitational pulls are strong and metaphysical energies peak as the Sun, Moon and Earth line up in their perpetual dance of direct and reflected lunar and solar light.
The place in which the conjunctions of the new Moons and the oppositions of the full Moons take place along the ecliptic - aka the zodiac belt - give us clues as to what types of energies and events will be focused upon, highlighted and illuminated during the days and weeks of each lunation and companion lunar month.
Leo is the 5th sign of the tropical zodiac and is symbolized by the proud and courageous Lion, the king [and queen] of beasts.* Leo's planetary ruler is the Sun - the most important, magnetic and powerful planet in our solar system - and it is also, obviously, the King of Planets. Leo energy is characterized by spiritual generosity, courage, confidence and strength of heart. It represents the primal will to live and the enduring life force. Just as the Sun is the benefactor of all life and every living creature on Earth, the luminosity of the Leo sun-time and lunar month gifts us with the power of light, love and good intention. It is a time to feel one's own heart, feel the actual physical heartbeat, as well as its heartfelt wisdom, emotions and sensations. Located in our solar plexus, it is the center of our physical life, the organ upon which all the other organs depend. It is the source of our physical vitality and sustenance, as well as the spiritual center from which comes our integrity, honesty, truth, will and passion.
As the Sun and Moon come together this week, tune into your heart. Discover the courageous, generous, loyal, loving king and queen of beast residing there. This is your divine spark, the creative fire that gives birth to your individual greatness, goodness - and most of all - the fiery, burning, passionate power of love. Good luck and may the force of the Lion and the will of Spirit be with you.
*[The Leo constellation can be seen in the spring night sky and is one relatively easy to identify. Its group of stars looks like the mythological figure it is supposed to represent. Also easy to identify is the Lion's heart-star Regulus, a blue-white 1st magnitude star shining with unrivaled brilliance in this section of the night sky. In mid-November, the Leonid meteors - a once spectacular group of shooting stars - radiate from this part of the sky.]
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) Wild at heart and running with the wolves, fire signs can burn out-of-control and damage the ground upon which they walk. In the hot passion of the Leo sun-time it is wise to keep an eye on compulsive, obsessive or quick-to-react behaviors that can spark dangerous wildfires. Focus on goodness, the courage to heal and the inner peace that keeps you sane.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) This week's Leo new Moon presents you with a fertile field in which to plant seeds of love, courage and creativity. Personal relationships - especially those involving close friends and family - benefit tremendously by way of nurturing, heartfelt action and focused attention. Instead of waiting for others to come to you, reach out to them. Then enjoy the joy.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) We have journeyed far on the path of separation. Today we walk the path of return, remembering our common origin and shared, interwoven destiny. The six degrees of separation have been reduced to one, and we are One. This week, embrace the strength and heart of the Lion and go forth with courage. Live in truth; the world revolves around its power.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) Leo is associated with the Sun, the star at the center of our solar system. Its power, light and gravitational force keep us here on Earth, centered in our earthwalk. This week's new Moon compels Moonchildren to center themselves in the personal truth found in the heart - and follow its wisdom. Consider the concept of dedication, the act of commitment and be true to you.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) The spiritual task of Leo is to live from one's center, one's heart. And while this may sound like an easy task for the Lion, it is one that requires a bit of caution and pause in the heat of passion and desire. Find your core truth, around which everything else in life must revolve. The most heroic acts are those of loving-kindness and compassion. Be a hero.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) It takes courage to be who you really are, confidence and faith to express one's true, essential being. Spirit embraces and encourages authenticity, living in truth and cultivating a life in harmony with your values. It is no use to pretend or hide from anything or anyone anymore, you are everything you need and want to be. Stay on the path and live in the light.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) While one-to-one relating and personally important relationships are the Libra forte, Leo sunrays encourage connections with people you do not necessarily know but have something worthwhile in common. Leo is also linked with the heart, the center of life force and the creative gifts you have to give the world. Smile and love, live and share your beauty, insight and light.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) The Leo new Moon reminds the Scorpion that happiness is an inside job and right action is the way to achieve it. Private and inherently secretive, you can feel uncomfortable with the Leo imperative to show feelings, demonstrate affection and be on center stage. No worries, all of this can be done with discretion and grace. Simply smile and be true blue to your heartfelt truth.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) Uplifting, positive, enthusiastic and optimistic are adjectives describing the Archer. While these words are accurate, we all know via the laws of physics that what goes up, must come down and you are no exception to the rule. Pace yourself, take time to rest and recuperate, count your blessings and then begin again. Focus on goodness and follow the light of spirit.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) The ongoing Uranus/Pluto square in Aries/Capricorn plays another powerful cosmic hand in the unfolding game of human evolution this week. It is time for something completely different; just remember, you can run, but you can no longer hide. That said, take extra caution when it comes to avoiding truth or practicing denial. Face the music, do the dance, enjoy the show.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) A change of mind and change of heart are on the cosmic agenda for Aquarians this week as the Sun and Moon conjoin in late degree Leo. Suddenly, you see the forest for the trees and the meaning behind the madness. It is all about awakening and awareness, truth and honesty to self and spirit. The world is morphing and transforming, go with the flow and ride the wave.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Planetary alignments and cosmic forces favor a practical and patient assessment of your relationships and your individual part and performance in them. Are you willing to accept responsibility for the circumstances and conditions of your life and commitments? Do you feel compelled to blame others or indulge in victim mentalities? Work on you and let the Universe take care of the rest.

Brave, Courageous, Truth-loving Open Hearts
The month of August in southwestern Colorado enchants the soul and uplifts the spirit. Mornings cool and I feel the wistful call of autumn in the air. Cumulus clouds build magnificent towers throughout the day in puffy shades of white. At sunset, peachy pinks, orange and purples surrender to turquoise twilight. Slowly, deepening shades of blue give way to shining stars, dancing moonbeams and the shimmering shadows of night. It's a magical, mystical time of year - a time for fairies and fantasy, future dreams and memories of days gone by.
We have passed the point of mid-summer and the school year is fast approaching. Farmers Markets overflow with fresh produce, brilliant sunflowers, organic meats, breads and cheeses. At home I'm baking fruit pies and canning preserves, gathering recipes, weeding gardens and watering trees. I'm doing what so many have done before me, what so many continue doing today. It's the natural rhythm of life on earth, life in harmony with celestial cycles, changing light, the music of the spheres. The metaphysical force of shifting seasons and the shamanic power of the Mother Earth pull at my heartstrings and tear down the walls I've built around my fears and pain. I see beauty in the wind and weather, the sunshine and rain. I am one with the earth, the sun, the moon and the stars. The facade lies crumbled and broken at my feet. My heart is open, exposed to all that is.
I know there is something happening now, something unusual and unique taking place right here, right now, on this Earth, in this solar system, galaxy and universe. After all, it's 2012. Each and every one of us is here for good reason, with special gifts and talents - just like the Blues Brothers said - "we're on a mission from God." We are giving birth a new age, a new era, a new reality.
It takes the courage of a Lion and the dauntless spirit of a warrior to be here and fight the battle of the loving, kind, compassionate, honest and truly open-heart. Good luck and may we all discover the Lion within and follow our brave, courageous, truth-loving open hearts.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) Your biggest wounds have come by way of self-undoing the things you have done yourself - in reaction to what others have done to you. Witnessing behaviors and recognizing patterns is the first step to healing and wellness. With Mercury now direct in Leo, practice the arts of self-love, forgiveness and right action. Focus on your own and other's goodness.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) Powerful sunrays of the Leo sun-time are shining down upon home and family, illuminating issues of domestic security and relationship, emotional nurturing, maternal love and self-care. Others may be upset, prideful or oversensitive when it comes to criticism. Take care of your own back yard, clean house and accept responsibility for your part.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) The proud and courageous Lion roars to get attention and affection. For the Twins, this is an intriguing and curious way to love and romance, and one that does not come naturally. Try on your more dramatic outfits, shine with beauty and give from the heart. The process of making the world a better, healthier place comes via joy and laughter. Smile and be happy.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) As you take those first baby steps into a new solar year, put your best foot forward. Faith and trust in love and peace are allies, especially in light of the crazy, mixed-up global madness of our social, economic and political news. What is real? What can you count on? What can you change? It all comes down to you. Be the best you can be, follow your heart.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) The main focus this birthday week is on friends and allies, those with whom you share hopes, dreams and wishes. It is important and even imperative that you surround yourself with uplifting, positive people and influences now. Your strength and courage are necessary ingredients in the current global awakening. No self-pity, no negative vibes. Choose joy.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) As the Sun continues to move through your solar 12th house of ego dissolution and soul connection, you may feel like hiding out, being reclusive or simply getting away from it all. The truth is this: you are feeling the pull of spirit and your cosmic connection to the universe. Nurture yourself in Mother Nature's beauty and discover the joy of life.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) As ruler Venus enters nurturing Cancer and the Sun transits proud and courageous Leo, you may feel the poignant pull of childhood memories and experience the clash between then and now. Innocence has been replaced with wisdom; you are older and wiser. Reclaim the simplicity of youth via heartfelt gratitude and joy. Live life, share love and embrace grace.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) Taking responsibility, taking charge and being an authority in one way or another is likely this week and month as solar rays shine upon your natural abilities and personal achievements. Others see you as competent and capable, and it is true, you can do whatever you set your mind to. Just remember to rest when you need to, smile and be happy.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) With several planets in your solar 7th house of other people, places and things, you are no doubt busy with the world and everything in it. Recognize and accept responsibility for your part in every relationship, commitment and interaction you engage in. The quality of your life is up to you. At the end of the day, the only one to blame - win or lose - is you.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) You may encounter someone or something sensually seductive and magnetically attractive to you this week and upcoming month as voluptuous Venus enters your solar 7th house of sharing and pairing. Love is in the air and you are no doubt feeling it on the breeze. Remain as calm and positive as possible. Focus on inner peace and just be beautiful you.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) One-to-one relationships and professional and personal commitments take priority this week and month as Leo light shines upon the people and things that are most important to you now. It is imperative that you show up for others and put first things first. This is a time of work and service, when you can make great gains via partnership. Do your part.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Move in the directions that feel best, take good care of yourself and simply do the best you can when it comes to others. Health is a top priority now; eat right, exercise regularly and keep in touch with spirit. Chiron and Neptune in Pisces encourage self-healing via spiritual practice. Meditation, prayer and relaxation are means to a beautiful end. Enjoy!

Mythical Mid-Summer and the Human Earth Walk
The human Earth Walk is one of ups and downs, twists and turns; flat plateaus, canyons, peaks and valleys. And we can't forget the rivers, floods, mudslides, landslides, fires, lakes, oceans, snow and rain, hail, thunder and lightning. In darkness and in light, happiness and sorrow, we travel the road of life. Each and every one of us is unique and yet the same. All of us have brains and hearts, thoughts and ideas, feelings and emotions. Sometimes we see life ripped away from us, people we love die. Others get lost in the shadowy prisons of addiction, indulgence, self-pity and self-destruction. Some discover joy, simplicity and inner peace. Some help others and many others need to be helped. We judge and misjudge, win and lose, make mistakes and achieve success. Everyone we meet is both a teacher and a student, a reflective mirror in which we see the ever-changing images of ourselves good, bad, ugly, worthy, unworthy, beautiful, intelligent, funny, happy, sad, mad, glad...
Today I see the magnificent power and beauty of Mother Nature. I see myself reflected in the billowing clouds, the soft breeze, verdant green pastures and moist earth. I remain thankful for the monsoon rains and shining rainbows, the sweet Paonia cherries and juicy Palisade peaches. I just made apricot jam with fruit from our tree and we're eating the first red tomatoes from our greenhouse. I feel lucky and blessed, grateful to be here, living and breathing, a part of it all.
The maternal Cancer zodiac month has drawn to a close. The proud and courageous Lion has taken the throne and this week, we experience the magical, mythical days of mid-summer. August 7th marks the yearly 15 degrees Leo cross-quarter day - the halfway point between summer solstice and autumn equinox is one of four days in our home-planet's yearly orbit around the Sun, when the magnetic currents circulating from the Earth's north to south pole and the Sun to Earth's gravitational pull reaches a maximum intensity @ 45 degrees. (The other days take place @ 15 degrees Aquarius [Feb. 5], 15 degrees Taurus [May 6] and 15 degrees Scorpio [Nov. 8]). These are days when electromagnetic forces peak, sunlight reaches a specific point of arc, days shorten or lengthen and seasonal energies shift.
Plants and animals metabolically and instinctively respond to the changing light and electromagnetic forces, seasonal migration and weather patterns kick in, mating and other behaviors awaken in life's dance of birth, death and rebirth. On and on; cycles and seasons, worlds without end.
Take notice of the sensations, stirrings, thoughts and feelings you experience this week. Also take note of what you see. For me, it's the first yellowing leaves, crisper mornings and a mystical sense of autumn in the air. Another revolution around the Sun. Blessings, peace and starlight. Happy mid-summer!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) Massive global and personal changes continue as the radical, transformative energies of Uranus square Pluto awakens, disrupts and destroys facades, illusions, systems and behaviors that no longer work. The power of this volatile combo intensifies whatever comes your way, so be the best you can possibly be. Honest and true, it's up to you.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) Leo/Aquarius full Moons are perennially powerful turning points for the Bull, and this one is no different. Family events, circumstances and relationships intensify as others ask you to be a compassionate spiritual guru, down-to-earth problem solver and altruistic philanthropist all at the same time. Breathe deep and stay centered in truth. One day at a time.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) Humanity is in the midst of a dimensional shift of consciousness and we have reached a major turning point, tipping point. As we transition from the Pisces to Aquarian Age, it's essential that each person contribute his or her unique gifts. As a multi-talented, multi-faceted magician of multiple realms, you must give the most. Give your best; think and act!
Cancer (June 21-July 22) As a child of the Moon, you are quintessentially equipped for communing with the metaphysical magic and magnificence of monthly lunar cycles. And, lucky you, it's now mid-summer, when devas dance and fairies sparkle. Seek out beautiful, natural environments and touch the Mother Earth. Eat sweet fruit and fresh vegetables. Sustain and nurture life.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) Happy birthdays continue as candles glow and cakes are cut. Gift yourself with serenity, joy and love on your special day. Make your birthday extra special this year by taking extra good care of yourself be as healthy and happy as possible on the actual day of your birth. The wild and reckless, metamorphic collective changes continue. Seek inner peace and discover grace.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) You may be asked to take a more visible role in society or your professional life as several planets in your solar 10th house shine upon well-earned achievements and accomplishments. Family members may also ask you for advice, guidance and direction. Tap into your own inherent wisdom via heartfelt knowledge. You have everything you need.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) The Leo/Aquarius full Moon is usually one of the years two most vital and convivial lunations, a time to party with friends, share love and reach for the stars. This year, however, you may feel a bit more cautious and reserved when it comes to revelry and indulgence, and that's good news. Discover the magic of Mother Nature, count blessings and choose joy.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) Mid-summer magnetism, intensified solar activity and altered electromagnetic fields dance and dive in a world spinning at warp speed when it comes to individual and collective change. These times are charged with powerful awakenings and breakthroughs, often experienced as radical or uncomfortable. Embrace the moment and go with the flow.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) Summer trips and midnight jaunts may be on your agenda as mid-summer magic twists and turns you down the road of life. Whatever path you choose or map you carry, be essentially true to spirit and one with the universe. Pay attention to what comes your way. Many of life's travelers miss the beauty of the journey, focused on the destination. Not you; enjoy!
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) Each full Moon reveals how far we've come and how much further we have to go. What was born at the Leo new Moon has now taken shape and form. You must do what you can with what you've got. Focus on your own back yard - what you can do to make your self and your life better rather than attempting to control or change others. It's all about freedom.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) The people who mean the most to you and your strongest commitments emerge in a dance of sharing and pairing, give and take. Examine yourself in the light of your relationships and recognize that what we see in others is often what we are ourselves. Where can you be more loving and giving? Have you forgotten how to say thank you? Show appreciation; discover joy.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Guardian spirits, dimensional shifts, spiritual moments and idealistic visions may come and go in an ethereal dance of mystery and magic as Mother Nature shimmers with the natural, energetic forces of mid-summer. Surrender to the power of the invisible and ethereal. Take in a magnificent sunset or the sparkling beauty of the night sky. Enjoy life!

"Live each and every moment of your precious life."
When I wrote the intro to Alacazem last week, I was looking foward to a family visit. My brother Jeff, his wife Mary, their two grown children - my niece Devan and nephew Blake - along with my niece's two young toddlers, Grant and Presley, were driving down from Denver for the weekend. The final days of Mom, home and apple pie Cancer seemed perfect for some time with someone who had been in my life since birth - my older brother - and his easy-to-be-around, much loved family. A trip to the pool or our secret swimming hole along the San Miguel, complete with picnics and short nature hikes, would be just right. On Friday, July 20th around 11:00 a.m., I decided to give them a call and find out where they were in their travels and get an ETA. I dialed my niece Devan's cell phone.
I found out shortly thereafter that they had gotten a bit of a late start. Their cousin Ashley - my brother's wife Mary's niece - had been shot at a midnight movie premier of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora and was in I.C.U., paralyzed. Ashley's 6-year old daughter, Veronica, was in the theatre with her mother that night and had been shot also.
Tragically, Veronica did not survive the shooting. Devan asked me if I'd seen the news. No, the television had been off all morning; I knew nothing.
"You might want to turn on the TV," Devan said. "I'm sure it's on every station." Oh, my God. I was surprised in some ways they hadn't canceled the trip. I was thinking of Mary's mother Jean, Ashely's grandmother - Veronica's great grandmother. You can imagine our conversation over the next few minutes. "Are you guys OK?" I asked finally. "We're just glad to be together," Devan said. "We're all together and we're safe. It just feels good to be together."
Devan, her darling children, my nephew Blake, Mary and Jeff. A beautiful, happy, healthy family. Tragedy strikes. No matter how good we are, how bad we are, how much we love each other. Death is a part of life, it's how it ends for all of us. At times like this, I embrace the words that my sweet niece Lise - who is no longer with us here on Earth - wrote on a wall in Fort Collins High School as advice for the young kids she was mentoring: Live each and every moment of your precious life.
It was, and continues to be, good to be together. Prayers and blessings for Ashley and Veronica, their loved ones and all others who have been directly or indirectly affected by this tragic event. May we walk in beauty, live in gratitude and find the courage to live fully, helping others and ourselves along the way. Hope, peace and love..
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) The Leo zodiac month translates as one of feeling and following a path of heart. We too often listen to our minds the ceaseless chatter of what ifs and why nots leading us down roads of fear and doubt. Courage and strength are allies now. Let go of your attachment to outcomes, cultivate faith and live fully in the present, simply doing the next right thing.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) Home and family relationships take center stage as solar rays shine light upon maternal/paternal roles and responsibilities. Treat others especially those closest and dearest - with compassion, sensitivity and respect. Life deals us cards from a deck of heartbreak, trauma, challenge, joy, success and triumph. We never know what we are going to get. Be kind.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) With ruler Mercury, and several other planets retrograde, you may find yourself re-working projects, re-writing scripts or dealing with repeating patterns in your life and other relationships. Take it slow, relax in the process and cultivate patience. Everything happens in its own time and at its appropriate pace. Spirit has no time, surrender to the cosmos and choose joy.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) As your birthday month draws to a close, take a deep breath and ask your angels for guidance. The road ahead glimmers with hope and possibility. You are loaded with plenty of talent and potential, but you may feel lacking the courage or confidence to go forth. Forcing solutions on problems creates more problems. Tap into your heart and follow the light.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) Happy Birthday month to the kings and queens of the zodiac. Regal and proud, loving and courageous, Lions can fall victim to ego-based thinking and behaviors, preventing the joys of humility and grace. Accept your life circumstances and the people in it exactly as they are in the present moment and focus on whats good. Gratitude is the key to happiness.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) The Leo zodiac month heralds a time of introspection, surrender, humility and ultimately grace. You may find great comfort in quiet spaces and places, solitude and silence. Prayer and meditation are allies now, even amidst the chaos and drama. Be true to yourself and the light of spirit.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) Friends and fellowships, groups and social gatherings may be on your agenda this week and zodiac month. Leo energy encourages a more convivial approach to life and people; get out and about. Cultivate contact and interaction with those you admire and respect, expand your sphere of experience and influence. Joy is everywhere; seek and you shall find.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) Career responsibilities, desires or achievements top your list of priorities as the Sun enters your solar 10th house of the social and professional. You may feel as if others are watching your behavior and performance. Guess what? They are. Simply do your best and be yourself. You have more than enough talent and ability to get to wherever you want to go. Let it flow.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) The bigger picture the stars, galaxy and universe surround you now. Fortunately, you understand the spiritual fabric of life here on planet Earth and beyond. We are all interconnected and interfaced, a butterfly in Peru affects a polar bear in Alaska. Say your prayers, feel your heart. Follow the light and go in the directions that feel good; help others.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) You may feel deeply emotional or mysteriously intrigued by matters of intimacy in relationship. Psyche, soul and spirit dance with images from the past, illusions in the present and fantasies for the future. Take your time, feel your feelings and stay firmly grounded in the facts. We can create good or bad, depending on our attitudes and perceptions.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) As the Sun enters your opposite sign and your solar 7th house of long term relationships, prepare yourself for several weeks of one-to-one relating. Pairing and sharing are dominant themes now. Recognize your part in every situation and circumstance. Take responsibility for what you say, do and feel. The quality of your life is up to you. How are you doing?
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Themes of health and self-improvement dominate the week and upcoming month. Chances are youve already made great progress here, but, of course, one can always be stronger and better. Take a good look at yourself in the proverbial mirror. What are the areas that could still benefit by way of attention and practice? Do your best and enjoy the process.

The Sweet Cosmic Mid-Summer Shfit from Cancer to Leo
My family is coming to visit this weekend. How sweet. And especially for me, as I am feeling the powerful, poignant impact of the cosmic shift from sensitive, nurturing Cancer to courageous, heartfelt Leo. Ah yes, mid-summer in all its fabulous fantasy and magnificence. Luscious mornings, monsoon rains and shimmering rainbows. Peachy-purple sunsets, turquoise twilight and the distinct shape of Scorpius glimmering low, above the southern horizon as the magic of night eclipses the sun.
I was born in Denver and our summers were long and hot. I grew up playing ditch 'em with the neighborhood gang, jumping sprinklers, playing baseball and riding horses. I remember lying in the cool, lush grass of our front yard, overlooking the city lights; staring at Venus and a thin crescent Moon above the silhouette peak of Mount Evans. Voices filtered out of the kitchen and into the darkness. I felt young and strong and innocent...
Today, I'm a grown woman, married with no children of my own. My nieces and nephews are as close as Ill ever get to that. The blessings of family - the ups and downs, the trials and tribulations, the joy and ecstasy, the pain, suffering and growth - death, birth and rebirth. I have been reborn several times - as we all have been and are. And I'm still living and breathing, here on planet Earth.
Thank you for my family, thanks for the memories and thanks for the magnamous gifts of life in our southwestern Colorado mid-summer. Blessings and peace...
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) New Moon in Cancer initiates a powerful lunar cycle of intense emotional impact. Waves of change crash upon the shores of life and wash away any facade you may have attempted to maintain. It's all about rigorous honesty and true-blue integrity now. Be mindful of every thought, word and deed. What we say can wound or heal. Do the next right thing.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) Holy men say that violence is anything that causes pain or separation. As one who prefers peace and love to war and hate, it's easy to feel lost in a sea of drama and chaos. Cultivate inner calm as you go about your daily round. Is it possible to save the world? Hardly. But you can identify what you can do within your realm of possibility and value. And then, do it.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) High surf warning: Mars is now exactly opposite Uranus and square Pluto, greatly intensifying waves of change. Awareness is lightning quick; passion, will and power run wild. Reform and revolution play ball with ruthlessness and domination in a world series of exponential potential and power. Remain flexible, fluid and adaptable. Stay the course, do the work and keep the faith.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) Suppressed emotions and needs don't go away, they are tucked away in the unconscious. Damned up judgments, hurts, fears and traumas must be transmuted. By allowing yourself to fully witness your feelings, rather than repress or project them outward, you can see and act in the truth. Open the floodgates and ride the joy of honest freedom and inner peace.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) Emotional responses are like an internal, spiritual GPS. Joy confirms we are on course; depression tells us we're heading in the wrong direction. Preeminently positive and pro-active, Lions glow with happiness and sunny smiles most of the year. There are moments, however, of doubt and fear. Focus on equanimity; stay in balance and cultivate inner peace.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) The archetype of Cancer and the element of water show us how to intuit change, shift from conflict to collaboration and move from polarization to progress. Its a game of strategy where external balance and inner peace are essential. Remain calm in the face of adversity, anger or aggression. You have all the skills and talents you need. Be cool.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) The characteristically soft, nurturing, nascent Cancer lunar cycle is tinted with shades of red-hot passion and white-hot power this year. Mars, Pluto and Uranus square off in a dance of will, action, upset and desire while Saturn in Libra advocates healthy boundaries and inner peace. Maintain balance and cultivate a daily spiritual practice. Find the joy and feel the grace.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) It can be more than difficult to let go and go with the flow when it comes to emotions. Especially when we have experienced hurt and pain. While expectations are perennially set-ups for resentment, and attempts to help others may be rooted in a subconscious desire to control, we carry on. Take a deep breath, rest and relax. It's time to help, love and nurture you.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) One day, one moment and one second at a time, we move through life. Then, all in a wink, its over. As the preeminent explorer, traveler and discoverer of the galaxy, is it not time to slow down and relish the present? There is so much joy, beauty and bounty on this awesome planet Earth. Hug your friends, love your lovers. Count your blessings and be here now.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) Mars in Libra exactly opposes Uranus in Aries and squares Pluto in Capricorn as the Sun and Moon conjoin in Cancer. Add Saturn to the mix and watch the rising tide of emotion and will wash through collective hearts and heads. Fire, earth, water and air swirl and twirl in a wild dance of polarity, challenge and awakening. Stay in the moment, do your best.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Where are you going and what do you know? These unsettled times reverberate with energetics of the 60's, when revolutionary Uranus was in exact conjunction with transformational Pluto. The dreams, visions and intentions born then are now in crisis. What to do to revive, resurrect and reconstruct the cause? Be the change you want the world to be.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) While numinous Neptune and health-focused Chiron near conjunction in Pisces - encouraging you to take it easy, focus on healing and open your spirit - the rest of the zodiac is caught up in crisis and drama, polarity, power and politics. Do your best to maintain a sense of inner peace and outer calm. Happiness is an inside job. Choose the joy of joy and transform the world.

The Moon Occults Jupiter & Mercury Goes Rx as the World Turns
Last Sunday I watched Ziggy Marley perform at the annual KOTO DooDah in the Telluride Town Park. When we left our house in the West End that afternoon, the sky above Telluride was a deep, dark grey-blue - torrential rain. Of course, we werent complaining. It was a welcome reprieve from southwest Colorados severe drought and we had plenty of rain gear. Without a blink, we loaded the Jeep and headed for the high country to meet whatever came our way.
By the time we arrived in Telluride, the downpour had run its course. A soft drizzle followed us to the town park and eventually ceased altogether. Lucky us.
Ziggy was awesome. His moves, his message, his music stellar. A fabulous way to break in the luscious, languid days of mid-summer and the rich emotions and sensations of the Cancer zodiac month. Ziggy is a Libra and his message and music constellate the Libran ethics of peace, love, beauty and harmony; balance, equality and justice. His stage presence is calming, comforting and charismatic, his smile infectious. He moves with Libran beauty, balance and grace. Lucky us.
Thanks for making it back to Telluride, Ziggy. Thanks for bringing us the songs of your Father, along with your own. And to KOTO, thanks for asking him to come. May we dance with raindrops and shimmer with rainbows; swim in the river, play with the Moon and smell the roses. Blessings, peace and grace. Happy mid-summer!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19)The waning Moon winds its way through the last week of the Gemini lunar cycle, bringing closure to a month of lessons and learning regarding issues of communication, transportation and personal business. And just in time for a retrograde period of Mercury in Leo, where you can use this new, insightful knowledge in all matters of the heart. Relax and let it flow.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) With several planets now moving retrograde, you can choose between fighting the tide or treating yourself to a more relaxed and laid back approach to summer. After all, isnt this the season for fun? Whether youre on the road or in the ballpark, accept life on lifes terms and discover the enigmatic magic of uncertainty. Find beauty; seize the day.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) The Moon occults Jupiter in Gemini this week, a portent of emotional and spiritual synthesis. Be open, accepting and compassionate with self and others as you walk your talk and travel a path of heart. You are on the front side of a wildly wonderful year of expansion, opportunity and growth. Relax and let goodness flow in and all around you. And its all good.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) Guardian spirits and angelic forces surround you now. Be open and willing to feel and see them. A passel of planets moving retrograde may pull you backwards, into the past or another place equally as poignant and rich with emotion. Maintain a sense of calm and inner peace as you deal with lifes customary chaos and confusion. Happiness is an inside job.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) Mental Mercury goes retrograde in Leo the same day the Moon occults Jupiter in Gemini. This translates as a point of shifting perspective and perception, when you see the magic in the madness and the calm within the storm. The trick here is in maintaining composure and cultivating inner peace. Great things are taking place. Relax enough to see them.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) You may find yourself dealing with an emotionally charged crisis involving people with whom you are intimate or intimately involved. Whether its family, friends, lovers or partners, keep a cool head and calm heart. Saturn direct in Libra encourages pragmatic, realistic attitudes and approaches. Balance equations and focus on practical solutions.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) You may feel incredibly calm inside amidst a week of outside ups and downs, highs and lows. Cultivating inner peace via a daily spiritual practice allows you to juggle resources, manage energies and balance equations. Partners and significant others may surprise you with old habits or odd behaviors. Its a process of death and rebirth. Focus on you.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) Mercury retrograde in your solar 10th house of achievement and success may pull you back to professional bucket lists or previously identified goals. This influence favors career reflection and review, when you can clearly see the path upon which youve traveled. Work on what youve already started rather than beginning anew. Find, finish, wrap and walk.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) Happy moments in sharing and pairing abound this week as Jupiter occults the Moon in your solar 7th house of important others. With several planets retrograde, you may revive and revisit old feelings and previously significant relationships. Good news is that you are somewhat emotionally detached and healthy here. Cultivate compassion and be kind.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) Revolutionary awakener Uranus goes retrograde in square aspect to already retrograde Pluto in Capricorn this week, pushing you simultaneously further into both the past and future. How can this occur? No worries; time is an illusion. The sense of mergence you feel is real. Actual and virtual worlds collide in a metaphysical dance of transformation. Embrace it.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Ruling planet Uranus in fiery Aries in square aspect to metamorphic Pluto in earthy Capricorn is igniting fires and destroying faades all over the planet. Flames of death and rebirth, freedom and revolution prevail as we breathe in the smoke of revolutionary change. As standard-bearer of the Aquarian Age, you lead the pack. Stand tall and carry the light.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Mercury and Uranus join Pluto and Neptune in retrograde motion this week, pulling us collectively toward perspectives of nostalgia and the way things were. This is rich territory for review and recollection, to use as a tool for more active, effective living in the present. Personally, you may feel as if youre in a type of physical stasis. Develop spirit and cultivate faith.

Visible Planets: Morning: Venus and Jupiter Evening: Mercury, Mars and Satur
Fire and Rain; Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness
It finally rained here yesterday. The forests, fields and gardens are grateful, as am I. After weeks of cloudless skies, super-hot days and unusually warm nights, it looks like the summer monsoon season may start early this year like just about everything else.
After a state-wide ban on private fireworks and a voluntary shutdown of most public displays, Colorado moves through the 4th of July with hope and trepidation. The devastating wildfires of High Park near Fort Collins and Waldo Canyon in Colorado Springs have heightened awareness and intensified concern in a drought year much like that of 2002, when we watched the Burn Canyon fire take off across the canyon like a pack of ravenous greyhounds chasing a rabbit. Living on the north - and ultimately safe - side of Naturita Canyon, we had a ringside seat.
This weeks July 4th issue of the Telluride Daily Planet is filled with articles about global warming, climate change, firefighters, beetle-kill and severe weather of all shapes and sizes. One headline reads: Hot, dry, smoky and scary and it really sums it up. After all, its 2012.
Last night we ate fried chicken and potato salad, danced with raindrops and flooded our lawn with irrigation water from our pond. Then we traveled to New York City and Washington D.C. to watch fireworks virtually, of course flipping back and forth to a show on the History Channel entitled America: The History of Us. Fascinating stuff: time travel and watching millions of dollars go up in smoke - intentionally in honor and celebration of freedom, liberty and justice for all. And, of course, the pursuit of happiness. Its a national holiday tradition and we are here, celebrating with our nation.
I cant say Im totally happy about the way things are today in America, or the world. I can say Im incredibly lucky and blessed. Free to do as I please; laugh, love and enjoy lifes most simple pleasures. Including rain.
Now, Im looking for rainbows
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) Ruler Mars has just moved into your solar 7th house of partnership and marriage, so be prepared for a couple months of coupling, sharing and pairing. With master teacher Saturn already there, this is an excellent combination for building strong foundations in both new and existing relationships. Show up for others; be responsible and do it right.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) The Cancer sun time is perennially one of mother, home and apple pie; including the 4th of July! Whether its eating cherries, strawberry shortcake or root beer floats, enjoy the summer as best you can. Family get-togethers, warm nights and starry skies beckon memory and nostalgia. Cultivate beauty in simplicity and count your blessings.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) You may find yourself actively involved with family, children or loved ones as summer waxes in blasts of color and heat. The evolutionary wave of change that has been building for years crests in a crescendo of guts and glory somewhere deep within the collective consciousness. You feel it as a burst of wonder, hope and awe. Follow the good. Do what you can.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) Happy birthdays continue with sizzling days and starry nights. This is a time to shimmer and shine, dance and dazzle. Go for gusto in your customary sweet, seductive, sensual style and see what happens. Focus on positive solutions and stay actively in the present. Let go of hurts and resentments from the past; embrace freedom. Touch the earth; love the planet.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) These times are prophetic and profound. Echoes from the 60s rumble through present day canyons of passion and intention. As kings and queens of the zodiac, what should you do? Lead by example and rule with benevolence. Thoughts, emotions and actions resonate throughout the universe in a galactic dance of evolutionary force. Follow the signs.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) As motivator Mars bids adieu to Virgo and enters neighboring Libra this week, you may feel a blast of personal power and desire. Accepting things as they are today and taking total responsibility for the shape and condition of your life and relationships is the single most empowering thing you can do. Happy or sad, good or bad; its up to you!
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) Mars, planet of action and desire, entered Libra on July 3rd and will be staying as a sometimes impatient but highly motivated guest until late August. This indicates a period to pursue goals and attack projects that need to be initiated, worked on and/or finished. Energy is high and passions are running strong. Be pro-active, positive and patient as you go.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) The recent Cancer/Capricorn full Moon illuminated issues of authority, control and dependence. Now its time to work on what was brought to light. Relationships are a great place to start. As Saturn moves ever closer to Scorpio, embrace the dynamics of closure, endings, death and rebirth. A major life cycle is culminating. Get in touch with spirit, rest and relax.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) With so much riding on the wind, you may feel helpless and insignificant, at the mercy of forces much greater than those of humankind. Embrace the grace of humility and surrender to the power and beauty of Mother Nature. Relinquish the illusions of possession and control as you dance to her creative, destructive melody of death and rebirth. Follow the stars.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) Drives for freedom, innovation and reform propel the break from cultural conditioning and push you toward quantum leap. Pluto in Capricorn has forced facing the proverbial shadow in a process of bringing dark to light. Personal power is at issue; this time its all about the true, authentic power within. Let go of the faade, illuminate spirit and go forth with grace.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Last week, ruling planet Uranus in fiery Aries square transformational Pluto in earthy Capricorn enflamed actual and metaphorical houses in the hood and around the world. In the spirit of death and rebirth, you understand the imperative of change and are willing to ride the wave. As you carry the flag of the Aquarian Age, proceed with courage and go with the flow.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) What to say to the most spiritually evolved sign of the tropical zodiac in these apocalyptic times? Are you living your essence, cultivating true compassion and loving-kindness or engaging in battles of self-will, self-defense and self-ego? What about fear? Neptune and Chiron in Pisces demand surrender to a holy mission, higher power or calling. How about now?

Uranus in Fire & Pluto in Earth: Ignition, Destruction, Death and Rebirth
Fire and brimstone, apocalyptic heat, images of a world burning out of control. Thats what weve been dealing with these days in Colorado. And it couldn't be more appropriate for the first of seven Uranus [ignition] in Aries [fire] Pluto [death and destruction] in Capricorn [earth and physical reality] squares. The heat is on!
Last Saturday afternoon my husband Richard and I rode our motorcycles up to Telluride town to meet up with friends from Steamboat, catch a free Bluegrass concert in Elks Park and make it to an early dinner at the Cosmo by 6:00 pm. Getting on the Harley felt good; I hadnt been riding much, too busy. The day was super-hot and cloudless, perfect for a ride along the San Miguel and the promise of cooler temps at higher altitude.
The pavement snaked along the canyon, curving in tandem with the river in an almost hypnotic rhythm of natural and technological bliss. Blasts of hot air, tempered with an occasional cooling breeze, carried us to Placerville and then Fall Creek. At water tank turn, I started to smell smoke as the slanting sunlight changed in hue from yellow-white to dusty orange. A forest enflamed? Riding up Keystone Hill, it was obvious that something big had caught fire. The entire Telluride Valley was wrapped in smoke.
We found out shortly after arriving in town that a wildfire was burning near Mancos, just over the mountain. By the time we left that evening - near 8:00 pm. - ash had started to rain down upon the town. The setting western sun was crimson red. The ride home was cooler, but still plenty warm; I didnt need a jacket. I felt a deep sense of sadness in my chest. I had joked with friends I met on the street my TIO editor Clint included that, after all, it was 2012. Is this what the end of the world looks like? he jested. I hope not.
In all this burning and heat, drought and dryness; let us help all those who need help, do what we can and say our prayers however, wherever and whenever we can. Its in the efforts and actions of people who care; the hope, peace and salvation of what is good, strong, loving and kind that keeps us going, moving forward on this planet. And for all those who lost homes, battle flames, save lives and help others, may you walk in beauty and find peace amidst the madness. God bless. And, hey, let's dance for rain!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) With love planet Venus and master teacher Saturn now moving direct, you can expect a change of heart and shift of priorities in your life and relationships. Positive thinking and uplifting communication are allies in the road ahead. Focus on goodness, inside and out, as you maintain daily schedules and practices. Balance and responsibility are keys to success.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) The time has come to treat yourself to some of lifes most enjoyable pastimes. Whether its taking a trip to a beautiful place, spending time with people you love or simply relaxing, go ahead and do it. The last few months have been a test of compassion, work and service. Youve helped others out a lot and, in the process, come out with flying colors. Enjoy!
Gemini (May 21-June 21) You may feel more confident and capable this week as Venus in Gemini and Saturn in Libra are now moving in apparent forward motion. Personal charm and charisma are running high; others find you attractive and loveable. Indulge others and yourself in sweetness - a little chocolate, perhaps? Of course, self-discipline comes easy. Its all about healthy boundaries.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) The first of seven Uranus/Pluto squares took place on June 24th; Saturn stationed direct on June 25th and Venus ended several weeks of retrograde on June 27th. This translates as plenty of challenge and change for Moonchildren, guided by the most magnificently beautiful guardian angel you can imagine. Embrace the cosmic flow, trust and keep the faith.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) With so much going on, you may feel as if the world is moving at warp speed and you are either sadly or happily missing the jet planes that zoom across the skyways. Whatever the mundane manifestation, spiritual awakenings and epiphanies abound. This is a very special time to be on planet Earth. You are gifted, blessed and exactly where you need to be.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) Love and beauty planet Venus going direct in your solar 10th house of achievement and recognition favors professional rewards and remuneration. Others see you as charming and attractive, capable and confident. And guess what? You are! Focus on positive solutions and optimistic attitudes as the world turns [or burns!]. Happiness is an inside job!
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) Master Teacher Saturn resumed forward motion on June 25th and ended a long five-month period ouch! - of retrograde in Libra. Hurray! Trials, tests and tribulations as daily rigor is over but the practical, realistic, pragmatic approach to life we learned to use in the process has a place of honor in our spiritual toolbox. We are now happy, healthy and blessed!
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) Lets face it, 2012 is all about awakening and transformation. Even if we dont like it, arent happy about the way things are or feel sad, mad or furious in the process, we know we are standing on the brink of times illusionary precipice, waiting for what? Let go of anticipation and live fully in the now its all we ever have. You are beautiful; enjoy your beautiful life!
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) Flying around out there all by yourself can be dangerous, challenging, awakening and ecstatic all at the same time. A true adventurer, wanderer, discoverer and explorer, embrace the moment and seize the day. Life is for the living and you are 100% alive today. Venus now direct in your solar 7th house of relationships favors sweet, loving-kindness. Go for it.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) The first of seven Uranus [in Aries]/Pluto [in Capricorn] squares heralds a snap-crackle-pop era of personal awakening and change. Something deep inside is not just stirring, its igniting. The world has become your personal mirror and you see yourself in it all. Treat yourself kindly and with respect. Bring light to darkness, dance with beauty and sleep in love.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) A prolonged period of hard work and self-disciplined action comes to fruition as you see progress and accept the first rewards of satisfaction in a job well done. This is the first phase of a gradual climb to goal achievement and success. Feel the power of self-renewal as you commit to a path of heart. Doing good, being good and living good; you know it.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Love and beauty planet Venus now direct in your solar 4th house of family and personal self encourages everything and anything you can do to nurture and take care of heart and home. Happiness is an inside job, health is wealth and lifes simple pleasures are priceless. Today you are embraced, guided and comforted by the Mother Earth. Relax and enjoy her.

Visible Planets: Morning: Venus & Jupiter Evening: Mercury, Mars & Saturn
Cancer and the Mother Earth: Nurture, Nourish and Heal...
Breakdowns and breakthroughs, tragedy and ecstasy, love and war. Music, mountains and muses, madness and mayhem, magic and magnificence
We have reached the halfway point to winter solstice 2012, its summer and we are here right now, right here. Wherever you are, there you are; and you are here on Earth. We are all here together. Somehow we have reached a critical mass of epic evolutionary potential. The collective consciousness is exerting an actual physical force upon the planet, shape-shifting and transforming reality. Its virtual and metaphysical, physiological, mental, emotional and psychological. We are thinking, breathing and living - together. And yet, we are individuals. People with identities and egos, each with unique hopes and dreams, talents and gifts, strengths and weaknesses.
Politics, religion, belief systems, sports and social media; local, state, national and international economies; financial markets, drought conditions, climate change, rising costs amidst chaos and uncertainty, whats a girl to do?
As summer begins, we look to our homes and families, our friends and loved ones. Its time to count our blessings, feel the gratitude of lifes most simple pleasures and experience the grace of living and breathing on this magnificently beautiful, bountiful planet.
The Cancer sun time is all about the Mother Earth and her nurturing, nourishing, healing, care-giving power and potential. She does not throw us off or prevent us from drinking from her waters, breathing her air or harvesting her fruit. She is always there, forever present, never disappears or abandons her children. How lucky we are!
So, as we weave our way into the first official week of summer, may we act as a family and treat our Mother with respect, be nurtured by her bounty, calmed and comforted by her beauty. Peace, love and grace.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) The official start of summer marks a major crossroads in your yearly journey around the Sun. Its an important checkpoint at which to assess how far youve come and how much further you want to go. Take a look at personal resources and your ability to manage them, as well as physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. How strong are you?
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) The upcoming week is packed with a variety of powerful planetary punches, all with knockout potential. The key here is in understanding the forces involved; your own inherent strengths and weaknesses, as well as the natures of those with whom you work, live and play. But its not a fight, its a game. Play it with love, compassion, truth and integrity.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) The recent transit of Venus across the Sun took place in Gemini, gifting you with a magnetic cosmic kiss of sweet love and celestial beauty. Now its your mission and responsibility to shower the world with the same. Sound impossible or, at the very least, daunting? No worries. All you need to do is smile, open your heart and cultivate attitudes of gratitude. Easy.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) Your Happy Birthday month begins on summer solstice. Congratulations on another revolution around the sun! And since this is your time to shine, just go ahead and do it. Indulge yourself in self-nurturing and self-care as you count your blessings and enjoy lifes most simple pleasures. The upcoming year is one of great spiritual awakening. Start today!
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) With no planets transiting the Leo/Aquarius polarity, you may feel calmly grateful and deeply at peace how unusual! The good news is that while you certainly arent the center of every revolving wheel, you are moving with grace and gentle motion toward positive, productive goals. Chaos and drama have taken a back seat to healing and health. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) Major planetary emphasis in mutable, flexible Gemini has called to attention your own personal authority and power. The universe supports those who take responsibility, show up and suit up. Let go of the desire to critique and analyze yourself and others; accept the world exactly as it is today. Work on what you can change: yourself and your behaviors. Yes!
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) Welcome to one of the most powerful and important weeks of the celestial year. Saturn ends its five-month retrograde phase in Libra on June 25th and Venus ends its 43-day retrograde in Gemini on June 27th- and both are big! Expect a noticeable shift of energy and consciousness as you realign with the celestial flow and get in synch with the cosmos. Good luck!
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) The first of seven exact squares of Uranus and Pluto takes place this week, awakening personal gateways to health and wellness as perceptual abilities deepen and intensify. You may feel slightly out-of-synch or pulled in directions you normally dont choose to go. Practice releasing attachments to outcomes and relax with the universal flow. Surrender.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) The magnetic power of relationship has pushed and pulled you from here to there and back again as the cosmos dance with celestial force and earthly delight. As global change interacts with atmospheric pressure, you may feel simultaneously uplifted and held down or back. Do your best to remain calm and centered amidst the chaos. After all, its an inside job.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) Powerful, passionate Pluto in your sign makes its first exact square to radical, revolutionary Uranus in self-fueled Aries this week, igniting fires and enlightening change. Whether or not you embrace this magnificent magic is up to you at least at first. Take note of what happens and who shows up. This is a time to let go, turn it over and live life as free and honest as possible.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Where are you going and what are you doing? Take note of situations and circumstances this week as powerful cosmic forces create whirlpools and set off dust devils amidst changing tides and shifting sands. Remain as personally grounded as possible, focus on inner peace and outer calm. The good news is that all is as it is and, after all, youre the boss of you!
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Planetary weight in mutable signs is balanced somewhat by a strong cardinal square, station and ingress, resulting in a powerful week of opening, change and adjustment. Old patterns give way to new beginnings as summer begins. Hang onto your hat and go with flow. Balance resistance and aversion with compassion and surrender. Enjoy.
