The Pace of the Space Spin vs. the Earth Walk

Wednesday, March 28th, 2012

blue earthI just took a look at my blog.

So much has changed in cyberspace since the inception of my website in 2008 – wow! Being born a few twenty-four hours ago – as they say in the recovery rooms – I know I’m not on the cutting edge of Internet technology or any of that. I can remember years ago – certainly it was before the millennium shift – sharing with one of my editors how I felt the world was spinning so fast that I could feel the earth slipping out from under my feet as I walked. And today, things are moving much, much faster! So…

I notice that I haven’t been much of a contributor to my own blog over the last couple years.  Not too good. Apparently, the space spin outweighed my earth walk. But I’m taking a vow to be more present, more right-here-and-now on our rapidly, radically rotating planet Earth. It’s time to write. Wish me luck!

Testing My Blog

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

This is just a silly test – not silly really, because it happens to be important to me – even if no one ever reads this. So…I’m going to be trying to post photos here and see what happens.

This is a photograph of my maternal Great Grandmother Clara Kessler Wood with her husband, my Great Grandfather William Wood. Guess they wanted to pop up in cyberspace after all my fiddling around and frustration to let me know that all is well! Lots of funny stuff in this world. Thanks for showing up and reminding me to laugh and lighten up! I think I’m over the hump!

Internet Freedom

Friday, May 1st, 2009

I’m a writer and I write. And I have to admit, I love the freedom of this format.

This week I’ve been busy doing readings. It feels great to be back in the saddle, riding the cosmic range following a 7 year hiatus from astrological consultations. Funny how the Universe guides us if we let it.

I just now posted my weekly Alacazem astrology column on the hip, cool new internet blog/newspaper www.tellurideinside.com and here at www.alacazem.com. It’s all about the lusty month of May, Beltane and the Four Gates of Avataric Descent - one of which opens at 15º Taurus the Bull. I had fun looking through old copies of Jim Maynard’s Celestial Influences calendars – the only one I ever use – for evocative images of Taurus the Bull. I found my favorite zodiac sign artwork ever – originally done by Joanne Dose in B&W in 1988 and then published in color in 1998 – and was thankful that I’d saved it – it had just been too beautiful to toss. I’m so happy to have the opportunity and ability to write, import images, design and play with my humble little website. It’s fun and creative and magic all at the same time. And I am eternally grateful to my readers. I appreciate you all so mucho!

Cyberspace

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

I’m amazed today that a humble little astrologer like myself can write what’s on my mind and then post it on a world wide web for all to see – or not see. Cyberspace – what a concept!

I think about all the invisible lines of information written in the cosmos and flying around the house and pastures – gamma rays, satellite feeds and wireless connections are just a few. Thank goodness I can’t see them – what a tangle! And yet, I can see the effects everywhere. From television to cell phones, text messaging and Youtube, the faltering newspaper business and the booming twitter phenomena, I am stunned.

Colorado Indian Paintbrush

Colorado Indian Paintbrush

It’s springtime in the Rockies and yesterday, it snowed all day. I found a scarlet-red Indian paintbrush poking it’s flowery head out from under Mother Nature’s soft white blanket, cozy and warm. This morning the snow has melted and the world is verdant green. I saw six elk – animal of stamina and persistence – grazing in the field below our tree farm. My little high mountain desert world here in southwestern Colorado es muy tranquilo and I can pretend I’m not surrounded by threads, lines and ties. But, I am.
